Zoom Level Is Not Holding On A Webpage - Windows 7 Support Forums?
Feb 9, 2013
i am on a webpage, any webpage, and as i'm looking at the page it can slowly or quickly get smaller and smaller. my zoom will go from my normal 125% setting down to 12%. i reset the zoom and it happens again. this has been an interrmittent problem for the past few weeks. i use IE9. tonight i downloaded firefox to see if the problem would appear there also. it did. so i do think it's a windows is there some way to lock the zoom? what is causing this? my computer is set to download windows updates automatically (not the optional ones).i don't know if it's related, but at times the icons on my desktop get small. when i check i see that it is set to small icons. i change it back to medium icons, and it goes back to small icons. this also is intermittent, and sometimes seems to coincide with the webpage zoom issue, but not always.i sometimes lose my hot key settings for my wireless keyboard. for example, i hite the hot key for mail and nothing happens. this also is an intermittent issue that sometimes coincides with the other issues and sometimes does not.
In Vista, I was able to sort files by date created, highlight the files I want, then sort again by name, and all the files I selected previously would still be highlighted, but now they're in numerical order. Win 7 won't let me apply that second level of sorting. It's either name or date, but not both.
Just Curious in whether a lot of the Windows 7 community have tried W8 at all.I really like Windows 7 but I've also been incredibly surprised at how stable and fast W8 is too -- It's primarily based on Windows 7 but it is a bit different. To me it's amazing that Windows 7 has evolved into something that could be used as a competitor to Android on mobile devices / tablets while still retaining features that are still needed on a PC using a "Classical OS".
I dual boot XP and W7. No problems with XP but if I use Win 7 to access the PCAdvisor forums, the following message keeps appearing:-"Stop running script?A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresposive.I'm using Inetrnet Explorer 8I click on "YES" and the message disappears but re-appears when I select another forum..
I've been having a lot of BSOD's since i installed my new graphics card. I thought it was the graphics card itself, so i exchanged it for a new one - the problem still persists. I also uninstalled all the drivers, and try'd new ones. I even try'd some of there BETA drivers - still nothing.Who crashed says it's a driver issue, so i'm guessing that's what it is. Considering I've run several diagnostic tools to see if my hardware was the issue.
I am still kid at heart. I like eye candy. I have W7 home prem. I wish it had that Pan and Zoom Screensaver that Vista had. Is there a way to copy the Pan n Zoom from Vista and insert it into 7?
I just purchased a new canon 60 d and I loaded the new software that came the camera, and the zoombrowser keeps saying not responding ,or is very slow to respond, my computer software is windows 7 ultimate
Recently purchased an Acer 5733. Why will my new higher zoom setting not remain as such, until I wish to reset. It seems erratic from one web page to another, and often automatically returns to 100%. Sometimes when I return to previous viewed web pages, the higher setting will have remained. If I set at 125% I want it to stay there!!
Just yesterday my laptop (HP Pavillion G) started holding on the welcome screen when I log in, this has only just started happening and I can disk cleanup or system restore which works for one log in, then when I shut down and log in a few hours/days later it holds again without allowing me into my desktop.
So the SATA connector on my old 64GB SSD snapped off, now it's become a crap shoot just trying to get the bios to recognize it. I've already accepted I'll need to RMA this one, and even bought a bigger replacement for it.to the nature of my OS install I am a bit confused as to how I should go about reinstalling windows. I'd put the main OS files (and drivers) on the SSD, while storing the users folders and everything else on my larger HD. Now however I am left with just my windows 7 install disc, and a 1TB harddrive I know has my user folders on it.How should I go about installing it? Is there an easy way to simply use the already established folders and the like, instead of manually moving/deleting the old ones?
So i have had my USB for some time now, and recently i discovered that all files that i had on it (some music and pictures - nothing serious) was corrupted or completely missing. As a man of thought i decided to keep my tears in and format my key, which returned it to it's factory 8GB, good, next thing i do save my pictures (as a test) onto the key, next day, i try to open them, and they are all corrupt.
I get the message "word has detected that you are holding down the control key" after I discover that Word 2007 doesn't work very well, in particular, I can't highlight individual words to edit. This has happened twice; the last time, it ended on its own after I tried numerous changes to the settings in Word, none of which made any difference. I'm running Word 2003 with Windows 7 on a new HP ProBook 4530s.
I have windows 7 ultimate 32 bitI use Samsun 16" Wide; When i run a program, it's like a flash,it appears that some parts of it are not shown, and it shows an errorHere's the error:" ERROR Control Panel/Display/Appearance/Display SchemeThis computer is set to display abnormally large window borders and window controls. Please reset this to a "Windows Standard" scheme. "I think everything is because of this wide thing, but what can i do?
Last yeat I was able to get WLM working just fine in Windows 7 (with a bit of help here) What I ended up with was a Windows Live Mail Page holding three accounts including Gmail. I acess Hotmail from a seperate Icon on the destop. All is good.I am trying to mirror this in Vista home. The Hotmail account came right up as I signed in with my Live user/password. What I am having trouble with is setting up the second page holding my three main accounts.I tried getting in by using Sign In, but it reverts back to the hotmail page.
yes, Im using an ASUS laptop and the brightness +/- and volume +/- macros or shortcuts are located on the f keys.Is there a way I can change it so I dont have to hold in the 'fn' key to use them?
I'm looking for a program that "grabs the scroll bar" when holding down the right mouse button. Then when moving the mouse cursor, it should act exactly like I'm actually holding down the scroll bar. Then when I let the right mouse button up, it doesn't scroll any more when moving the mouse cursor. If I'm not clear about what I mean - let me know. I've tried some programs already, but only one could work like this: MouseImp Pro Live! But the sad thing is that this only seems to work in Windows, but not in other programs and such.
I typed some text. And I want to erase some of that text using the Backspace key. I press it. But it only deletes 1 character before I have to press it again. And so I'm in the process of pressing the backspace key multiple times before I get rid of one word. I want that to be resolved. How can I change (return) to the way where holding down my finger on the key will do the operation multiple times.
P.S. I'm not sure if this is already included i the my footnote or not. But I'm on an Asus G73jh, I've been exposed to some well-known issues on the G73, but this keyboard problem hasn't been one of them.
a few months ago I called dell to have something on my computer fixed (I don't remember what it actually was). The dell rep remotely took over the computer and cleared out a bunch of the programs from startup in various locations. Since then I have not been able to use the scroll and multi-touch features on my mousepad. I can't find where to turn this back on and re-installing the driver has not helped.
I use a Hitachi plasma screen with a native resolution of 1024x1024 to watch TV via Media Centre and with the recommended output resolution at 1024x768 via VGA. As would be expected, this results in black bars top and bottom so I have to use Zoom 3 setting which corrects it nicely. The picture quality is excellent.
The problem is that when I change channels a few times, it reverts back to the default Zoom 1 so I have to manually change it back again using the info/zoom menu. This applies to HD & SD digital channels.
Is there some way I can get the zoom setting to stick? It's a real nuisance otherwise and ruining the setup.
I reported this problem on the beta and hoped that it would be fixed by now in the RC.
I have a widescreen Hitachi plasma with a native resolution of 1024x1024. My HTPC is connected via VGA using 1368x1024 resolution through an ATI Radeon 4670 card which gives really excellent picture quality for live TV (with a few tweaks!). MC displays correctly full screen but I need to set it to Zoom 3 for live TV to remove the black bars top and bottom and fill the screen correctly for 16:9 aspect ratio.
The problem is that this setting will not stick and randomly changes back to Zoom 1 when I change channels. Sometimes it works and sometimes not regardless of content. Sometimes I can just see the picture change zoom an instant before the channel changes.
This is definitely a windows problem and not related to the graphics driver. I have used the driver automatically installed by Windows 7 and updated to Catalyst 9.4 with exactly the same results. WMP remembers the zoom correctly for DVD playback.
I have an identical setup running under Vista MC and the zoom, once set, always remains the same (Zoom 3).
Is there a way of making this setting stick as it should remain the default for all my TV viewing and I could not live with having to change zoom every other time I change channels? Any help would be much appreciated as without a solution I would not be able to adopt Windows 7 which would be a great shame considering all its other improvements over Vista.
I know about the option to automatically reset it whenever a new tab opens (found in the advanced tab in IE options), and I know that this is based off of what option is set in the "Ease of Access" control panel. The thing is, is that this is on a laptop, so I like all my icons and text outside of IE to be at 125%, but flash is messed up in IE if it isn't set to 100%. Also, every once in a while I discover that I have accidentally changed my zoom factor by hitting control+scroll (just a guess this is how it changes), and would like to avoid this.
My computer (Win 7 Pro 64 bit) recently crashed hard during a Windows Update, probably during Win 7 SP1 installation but I have no way of being sure. I have daily backups on a WHS system and I reverted to a version known to be good prior to the crash. Unfortunately, there were some changes made to some user files between the early AM backup and the next day's crash. The data should be recoverable (there is another WHS backup that was completed while Windows update was installing that should have the user data but I'm afraid to try using it for a full restore because I don't know what other changes were going on in the OS)
I can recover all of the files from my Documents folder in Win 7 easily enough ... but is there a way to recover the files from the XP Virtual Machine's folders?
I'm tempted to copy the XP Virtual Drive from the WHS volume and write over the XP virtual drive on the restored PC but I have not found any information about doing so and I don't want to trash things to the point where I have to do yet another restore. I have to admit that I had not considered a backup strategy for the XP Mode VM until this happened.
Alright, so recently I upgraded my windows vista laptop to windows 7 ultimate.Everything ran smoothly, except for now when I type, it will randomly act as if I am holding ctrl for short bursts, opening new tabs, windows, closing the browser, opening the find window, bookmarks window, etcIt never did this before I installed windows 7, and I checked to make sure my drivers are up to date, which they are. I've googled and tried many solutions, but none of them have worked. I am running windows 7 ultimate 34 bit on a Toshiba laptop, but that's all I really know.
This tutorial will show you how to adjust the level of protection in the UAC (User Account Control) to under what circumstances be notified about your computer changes.
I was testing out whether using the optical zoom on my camera is better than manually zooming a picture in Photoshop. As a complete newbie, what are the basics on how to zoom and crop and not lose my 4288x2416 resolution?
