I was testing out whether using the optical zoom on my camera is better than manually zooming a picture in Photoshop. As a complete newbie, what are the basics on how to zoom and crop and not lose my 4288x2416 resolution?

I'm having problems with my the graphics card on my laptop. It's an APU and I have picture and videos problems. Whenever I watch movies or look at pictures I see most things fuzzy, (if that makes any sense). I tried to watch a DVD and the video quality was unbearable. The most unbelievable thing is it affects picture quality. I can't do anything without poor quality pictures or videos. I have tried installing new drivers and all sorts of things. Is it me or is it my laptop?

AMD A6 Quad Core APU 1.5Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 6520G
6GB DDR3 Memory 1066Mhz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
I have got a new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7 installed, I had a windows Vista laptop before and the default programme for viewing my photos was FANTASTIC as I could easily crop photos (great for ebay) but on this windows 7 laptop it has NO OPTIONS at all for cropping a photo that I have downloaded from my camera, it opens the photo in Windows Photo viewer, but the top tools are all blurred, so my question is: which programme can I use to be able to crop the photo of my choice? I am really P'd off that this new laptop hasnt got the FANTASTIC "fix" tools that Vista had, I thought this was going to be a "better" laptop but this photo viewer with no option to crop is a definite step backward,?

View 9 Replies View Relateda few months ago I called dell to have something on my computer fixed (I don't remember what it actually was). The dell rep remotely took over the computer and cleared out a bunch of the programs from startup in various locations. Since then I have not been able to use the scroll and multi-touch features on my mousepad. I can't find where to turn this back on and re-installing the driver has not helped.

I use a Hitachi plasma screen with a native resolution of 1024x1024 to watch TV via Media Centre and with the recommended output resolution at 1024x768 via VGA. As would be expected, this results in black bars top and bottom so I have to use Zoom 3 setting which corrects it nicely. The picture quality is excellent.
The problem is that when I change channels a few times, it reverts back to the default Zoom 1 so I have to manually change it back again using the info/zoom menu. This applies to HD & SD digital channels.
Is there some way I can get the zoom setting to stick? It's a real nuisance otherwise and ruining the setup.
I reported this problem on the beta and hoped that it would be fixed by now in the RC.
I have a widescreen Hitachi plasma with a native resolution of 1024x1024. My HTPC is connected via VGA using 1368x1024 resolution through an ATI Radeon 4670 card which gives really excellent picture quality for live TV (with a few tweaks!). MC displays correctly full screen but I need to set it to Zoom 3 for live TV to remove the black bars top and bottom and fill the screen correctly for 16:9 aspect ratio.
The problem is that this setting will not stick and randomly changes back to Zoom 1 when I change channels. Sometimes it works and sometimes not regardless of content. Sometimes I can just see the picture change zoom an instant before the channel changes.
This is definitely a windows problem and not related to the graphics driver. I have used the driver automatically installed by Windows 7 and updated to Catalyst 9.4 with exactly the same results. WMP remembers the zoom correctly for DVD playback.
I have an identical setup running under Vista MC and the zoom, once set, always remains the same (Zoom 3).
Is there a way of making this setting stick as it should remain the default for all my TV viewing and I could not live with having to change zoom every other time I change channels? Any help would be much appreciated as without a solution I would not be able to adopt Windows 7 which would be a great shame considering all its other improvements over Vista.
How do you set the default zoom factor in IE 9?
I know about the option to automatically reset it whenever a new tab opens (found in the advanced tab in IE options), and I know that this is based off of what option is set in the "Ease of Access" control panel. The thing is, is that this is on a laptop, so I like all my icons and text outside of IE to be at 125%, but flash is messed up in IE if it isn't set to 100%. Also, every once in a while I discover that I have accidentally changed my zoom factor by hitting control+scroll (just a guess this is how it changes), and would like to avoid this.
I just purchased a new canon 60 d and I loaded the new software that came the camera, and the zoombrowser keeps saying not responding ,or is very slow to respond, my computer software is windows 7 ultimate

It seems erratic from one web page to another, and often automatically returns to 100%. Sometimes when I return to previous viewed web pages, the higher setting will have remained. For RAW shots, in order to manipulate the photo, it has to be converted. No problem before. Now, there is no link to do the conversion under Edit, which is where it was and where I found info on line where it should be.

Might this be because its a 64 bit OS ? Previously had Vista installed on the laptop, and it doesn't state anywhere on the PS box whether its a x86 or x64 software version.

It cannot install the Microsoft VC80_ATL and VC90_ATL . It has 2 inputs, DVI and VGA. I have two different types of cables, HDMI-DVI and VGA-VGA. I tried connecting my laptop to the monitor.
My laptop has two outputs, VGA and HDMI. When I use the HDMI output, the image on my monitor is sharp and clear. When I use the VGA output and the VGA-VGA cable, the image on my monitor is blurry.
EDIT: My VGA connector also has one peculiarity. From the point of view of the sockets, Pin No. 9 is missing, for both ends. (although it may unused)
I can't understand why. I played the same xvid videos with Media Player Classic Home Cinema and it look way better. Is it the codec WMP 12 uses?

Upon a left mouse click, whatever tool I was using would jump where it should not be (eg the move tool would displace a layer after a left click, or the brush tool would add a swipe of color where it shouldn't be, or the marquee tool, refusing to de-select because it would add a new selection at a new mouse click)--and this has been causing massive frustrations to say the least.I'm on a Windows 7 64-bit install, Quad core, 2.8Ghz, 8Gig RAM system.After chasing the problem for a few days, it appears to be caused by a PCI network interface card. If I remove the card, the behavior goes away... But if I only disable the card in devices, the problem persists. I've tried updating the drivers, but this doesn't help. The problem card is a Rosewell, which uses a RTL8100C chipset. I tried a Belkin PCI NIC to see if that would help (chipset 8139a), but it causes the same erattic behavior.So, I'm looking at a system problem (not a photoshop problem), maybe a hardware conflict. Photoshop is the only program in which I've noticed the behavior.My first step has been ordering an Intel PCI-express card, which uses an Intel 82574L chipset (rather than Realtek).
