New Feature: Change The UAC Level Of Protection In Windows 7
Dec 1, 2008
This tutorial will show you how to adjust the level of protection in the UAC (User Account Control) to under what circumstances be notified about your computer changes.
I recently installed Matrix: The Path of Neo, which is a great game, but its PC port is horrible. The problem is, the game detects any gamepad and maps its buttons automatically, with no options to change the buttons. So, the game uses the right analog stick to manipulate the camera but the X and the Y axis are switched so, what I wanted to do was to make Windows 'think' that the X axis is the Y axis and vice-versa.I already searched the internet and couldn't find any program that did this (xpadder, pinnacle game profiler, motionjoy, joytokey, none work)
To change the volume level on Linux just put the little arrow-click on the audio icon on the taskbar and use the mouse wheel without having to click. This is possible in Windows Seven, changing some configuration in the system?
In Windows 7, the good old Calculator accessory gets a makeover. You can use Calculator to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The Calculator now even offers the advanced capabilities of scientific and statistical calculators. This tutorial will show you how to open the Calculator and change the Calculator mode to either the Standard, Scientific, Programmer, or Statistics mode.
In Vista, I was able to sort files by date created, highlight the files I want, then sort again by name, and all the files I selected previously would still be highlighted, but now they're in numerical order. Win 7 won't let me apply that second level of sorting. It's either name or date, but not both.
i want to make my taskbar take longer to reaper after hidden because it gets annoying every time i try to scroll down it pops up. I have done it before but i forget how now
I have a few small .exe files that I received by e-mail. When I click on them to install the program I get a message saying Windows is preventing running the file for security reasons. I know the file is free of viruses and want to install it. I am told there is a setting somewhere to turn this security feature "off"--I am the only user of my PC and want this annoyance turned off.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on a stand-alone PC with a hardwired Internet connection (no router).
i am on a webpage, any webpage, and as i'm looking at the page it can slowly or quickly get smaller and smaller. my zoom will go from my normal 125% setting down to 12%. i reset the zoom and it happens again. this has been an interrmittent problem for the past few weeks. i use IE9. tonight i downloaded firefox to see if the problem would appear there also. it did. so i do think it's a windows is there some way to lock the zoom? what is causing this? my computer is set to download windows updates automatically (not the optional ones).i don't know if it's related, but at times the icons on my desktop get small. when i check i see that it is set to small icons. i change it back to medium icons, and it goes back to small icons. this also is intermittent, and sometimes seems to coincide with the webpage zoom issue, but not always.i sometimes lose my hot key settings for my wireless keyboard. for example, i hite the hot key for mail and nothing happens. this also is an intermittent issue that sometimes coincides with the other issues and sometimes does not.
Its strange but my battery goes from 16% to 23% (Or etc% To etc%) in one minute, once when I get down to about 10% I have to hurry and find my charger because that is no longer accurate.. Does this mean my battery wearing out? The battery and the computer is one year old.
I'm at the end of my rope with my volume issue. I'm running Win 7 64 Pro with a Creative X-FI Gamer card (latest drivers).
The issue: Master volume keeps resetting to 30%. Noticed it happens when I bring my PC out of standby, and when I run certain apps like Creative's sound panel. I've tried the "Do Nothing" option on the Comms tab, and also tried unchecking the Exclusive Mode options which give apps direct control over the sound card. Nothing works.
Is there a way to set the master volume in the registry and/or create a task which runs periodically to adjust the volume to where I want it?
I have been searching everywhere on this forum and others in trying to fix this. I have a 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate machine. I am trying to add .Net 3.5 from the install windows feature section. It fails and after a reboot it reverts back to not installed. Some things I have tried. I completely removed all .Net installs, I ran the .Net cleanup utility
My neighbor's laptop hdd seemed not to be working right, he had left the laptop in the closet for 2 years anyway, so it seemed not a loss to run a utility that might bring the hdd back [might not], so I started the low level hdd pre-format from a disc I had been given.
That was about a month ago, and the 250 gb hdd is still not done. Should it really take this long, or is the hdd totalled?
I installed Hamachi Free VPN. I have shared (full control) my entire external drive for convenience for everyone on my LAN. However, there are some folders that need to be excluded from this share over the VPN due to sensitive information in those folders (other users on my LAN backup data to those folders).
Is there a way to restrict ALL users over the VPN from accessing those folders (without adding a rule for every user)?
I used to be able to see the ink levels of my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 printer everytime I went to print something. Since I upgraded my computer to Windows 7 I cannot find out how to see this information anymore.
At this moment the "low ink" red light is flashing and I have no idea which ink cartridge(s) I need to replace.
I found some scripts that can move the sub-folders or files to a specific location but that's not what I'm after. Here's my situation:Folder 1Subfolder Afiles.xxxFolder 2Subfolder Bfiles.yyyFolder 3filez.zzzetc etcI'd like to move files.xxx to Folder 1, files.yyy to Folder 2, and leave all files.zzz alone. There's no consistent naming pattern in the subfolder names or contents and the file formats vary. Is it possible to script this?
My laptop dies if I am on the battery and the battery percent gets between 25-40% then it will just completely shut off. It never used to do this for the first 8 months i've owned it. Now it does it every time I'm on the battery. Also, right before this started happening I was getting GREAT battery life out of my battery, so I don't personally think the battery has gone bad, however you may feel different!
I've a question about Brightness in laptops When I use Cord to Power my Laptop I usually get higher contrast, brighter back lightning then just using battery.
I get as much brightness with Battery usage as with a Cord ?
i was wondering how can i use the blue input port on my pc for my speakers? I've run out of ports to put my speakers as my headphones are taking up a slot. I've tried plugging it in and changing the speaker configuration and it plays sound but not all the sound, for example it's missing the music in games but it still have sound effects
Running Win 7 64 bit and I noticed that my AddRemove Windows feature box is blank. I ran the windows readiness tool and tried system restore to no avail.
HomeGroup is a new feature introduced by Windows 7 which aims to simplify the process of sharing content and devices on your home network. In older versions of Windows, sharing content was a tedious and sometimes painful process, especially for home users. By using HomeGroups, you can now access all shared content in your home network with just one click. I know it sounds to good to be true. That's why, in this article, I will show what a HomeGroup is, how it works, how to create one and join your home computers to it. Also, I'll show how to change the password of your HomeGroup and how to retrieve it in case you forgot it.
