Someone told me "The corrupted registry file needs to be repaired and would require performing advanced troubleshooting steps to fix the Windows Update issue" is there anyway i can get this fixed free? The problem this causes is that when i update the brand new windows 7 i just bought and i install then restart the computer so they can take effect ( Graphics Update ) After the Starting Windows Page my screen goes into sleep mode but i hear the starting windows noise. The computer technician told me "Just 149.99$ to fix this problem in one session" which makes me think i am really getting ripped off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently had a Gateway LX6810 repaired. The system board, NVidia card and power supply were replaced. It is a 64bit machine. I downloaded a new version of Windows 7 from Microsoft to another PC, then copied each of the 3 files to CD. The Gateway does go through the normal boot process and the drive priority is DVD as first boot. When The drive spins all I get is the white cursor in the upper left corner.

It would last usually around 15 seconds, occasionally till I did a cold boot. When it came back from a 15 second episode, sometimes colors were strange and or parts of the screen remained black. It acted like my ancient '98 had when out of resources. But that was rare --usually it just came back and we kept going. I contacted HP and they tried some diagnostics (as in, they controlled my cursor), with no trouble apparent. The told me I'd have to mail it to them. Knowing they usually format the hard-drive, and seeing this as a lot of trouble, I insisted they send a tech.

Since it came back, I've started to have BSOD issues, which pop up randomly while playing games or doing other things. I already ran a Memtest overnight. View 4 Replies View RelatedI was booting off an ssd originally and have a regular hdd as backup. then i had to get my laptop repaired. i removed the ssd and shipped the laptop off. upon receiving it, i popped my hard drive back in and changed the boot settings in bios to my ssd instead of the hdd.it boots just fine, but my wallpaper was gone and i cant access certain things like my computer, control panel, etc. an error pops up saying that it wont initialize.is there a procedure i must do? i tried sfc scannow and it restored my desktop, but it said somethings were unable to be repaired. im also wondering how come it didnt just work right away as if i never sent it in for repairs. i stumbled upon a guide that said how to re register my dlls.

I performed a secure erase of the HD with "Clean All" command in DISKPART and reformatted the drive in ntfs. When I install Windows 7 64 bit I get an error 85% through that says "windows could not configure one or more system components" and requires a new installation. Did I wipe critical drivers from SONY that are needed to perform an install? If so what steps do I need to take to install Windows 7?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently updated from XP to 7 and everything was fine for a few weeks but that honeymoon seems to come to an end.
First symptom was that Messenger couldn't connect, and after a few days I uninstalled it and tried to re-install it. Well, the installer couldn't connect anywhere to get files and I decided to let it be.
Then I installed some new hardware and allowed Windows to connect somewhere to get the drivers (I don't usually do that, but with this hardware it has allways worked well) and it couldn't find anywhing this time. I just thought that 'well, windows, it's allways a different battle' and got the drivers from the hardware manufacturer.
Now I would really like to get the Messenger up and running again and tried to look at it again. I thought maybe I should do a windows update first and off I went. At this point I realized that the problem lies deeper than Live Essentials / Messenger. After just 1 or 2 seconds the update tells that some updates (=none) couldn't be installed + error code 8007273D which 'surprisingly'
From day 1 I've had Zonealarm and Avast! running, I've also tried with them turned on but no help.
I tried to install Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit on my brand new rig and I kept getting a "Windows could not configure one or more of your system components". I tried reformatting, changing the SATA to IDE and AHCPI, nothing worked, so I installed Home Premium x86. Being a 32 bit system it only recognizes 3.5gb of my 8gb Dual Channel DDR3 with 4.5gb being "system reserved hardware".

A few days ago it started playing up, at first I thought I had a virus of some sort as my protection had run out, so I downloaded another protection plan and ran a test which came back clean. Then a message came up up from windows saying that I needed to install a "P2P driver" and do a upgrade. So I downloaded the driver and did the upgrade which seemed to work. The next day I started up and it went straight to the start up repair, which came back saying my system cant be repaired automatically. I can get as far as the system recovery options. I tried a "system restore" and that didn't work, and a "windows memory diagnostic" and still nothing. I haven't done a back up disc or have any other discs so I'm pretty much stuck in a loop now. I've been looking into the "system image recovery" but have no idea what that means or what to do.

It then prompts for a reboot as if something happened. I just did this install last week and finally have everything how I want it minus that. SP1 installed fine and no other issues. ic hecked the event viewer but see nothing in there when i try and disable the components.

Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." This is a 64 bit machine. Was running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate until yesterday.
Tried partitioning/cleaning/wiping the drives in so many ways I couldn't even count, including "clean all" from repair disk, booting to ubuntu live cd and making sure no rogue filesystems/partitions exist, letting windows installer create partitions, precreating the partitions in diskpart/ubuntu. Have tried several iso's and several cd's/usb drives.
Messed with some bios settings, but to no avail, and made sure my bios was up to date. Downloaded drivers from dell and loaded chipset drivers pre-installation just in case. Have removed all extraneous devices from system excepting the keyboard, mouse, HD, CD-drive, and video card. The 32bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium installed completely fine, with no issues whatsoever, even without pre-loading the chipset drivers.

My computer got the BootMGR is missing problem, which I have had in the past which is not that big. I insert the Windows 7 64 Ultimate disk it starts up everything fine, press repair my computer and it finds the installation. But when I press on it and next it has an error pop up saying "This version of system recovery options is not conpattble with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that i compatible with this version of Windows." If I dont select anything but press next it allows me to look at the screen Im supposed to, but if I go to command prompt or click autmatically repair nothing will be saved or changed. This is the same disc I installed Windows with and repaired it several times. But I did have to reset BIOS earlier so this may have affected something.

What if I install all the software I need, activate Seven, then create a system image. Shut down the computer, disconnect the Windows 7 HD, attach an equal new HD, use recovery tools to return the said image to this HD number 2. For my custom computer I want it to have all of the proper parts in front (power, reset, LEDS, USB, audio), and I found how to do the switched and LEDs, but not usb ports and audio jacks. where do I get these? I recently created a virtual server of window 2008 x86 enterprise edition. I installed integrated components and configured my educational / testing server and things were working fine until I rebooted the host OS and everything seems peachy but after the OS splash screen something seems to be conflicting locking the OS preventing the user login screen to appear. I checked the bios and intel virtualization Is on in the bios and I can load into safemode so the issue must be caused from some conflict that isn't loaded in safemode.
