View 5 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the Restart option on my PC has stopped functioning. After logging off and shutting down, the PC starts the process of restarting but gets stuck on the welcome screen of the motherboard. I can see the light showing had disk drive activity but no further progress takes place. I have to then forcibly stop the PC by pressing the start button long. After the PC stops, I can start it notmally by pressing the start button again and then it starts normally.Whether the restart option is used mouse Start/Restart or clicking on the <Restart Now> option after updates, the problem is the same.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy installs of Windows 7 was working fine and all of a sudden it wont boot anymore. Yesterday I put in a required Java Program update install and I think Windows just added a couple of critical updates as well. I have tried booting in every way possible, rolling back, safe mode, etc, and nothing works.
I keep getting the screen telling me there is a problem and must do a system repair. Then the repairs and all it wants to do is shut down. I managed to pull up some error reports and it seems two files are corrupt which are TCPIP.SYS and one called FWPKCLNT.SYS.
TCPIP.SYS is located in C:/WIndows/System32/Drivers
FWPKCLNT.SYS seems to be in drive F:/ which is not an actual drive. It must be a temporary boot drive created by Windows 7.
I have an older XP on another partition on the same hard drive so I booted in XP to see if I could possibly delete the reported corrupt TCPIP.SYS file and replace it from another Windows 7 install from my laptop just to see if that might work. But it wont let me delete the TCPIP.SYS file. It says it is in use, but I can't understand that since I am trying to delete it from the Windows 7 partition while I am booted up from the XP boot partition.
I keep getting a Windows installer pop-up saying that "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue....." I click "Ok," and the pop-up goes away but comes back. I'm not trying to install anything, and I don't know what program may be trying to install or update or whatever it's doing. Is there a way to find out what program it is so I can get it to stop?

My other problem is that all my data is on a striped raid configuration and probably not that easy to access otherwise i'd pull the hd and retreive the info. Most of my data has been backed up, but i do have some work data that i need.
My mouse won't work in the usb ports anymore and my touch pad won't work either...what could be wrong?

Anyway, has anyone gotten ANY Blu-Ray drive to work in Win 7 64-bit yet? I've got the LG GGC-H20L Blu-ray/HD combo and I was at least able to get the drive to lose the caution/warning symbol in the device manager thanks to the reg edit in another thread. But I still can't get the drive to read any blu-rays. I've using Total Media Theatre which is fantastic in Vista.
Just wondering what some others have encountered on their Win 7 journey. Anything with 32-bit(I might triple boot just to find out)? Anything with a different program? Anybody with a different drive? Heck, anybody with the SAME drive?

I wanted to delete a folder in my documents but it was giving me an error which I cannot remember exactly now, but after doing some research, most sites had suggested that I run a Chkdsk. My computer successfully completed the Chkdsk, but now my computer is in some sort of coma where it loads up fine, but after logging in, there is no text whatsoever on the screen. On top of this the start bar does not work and any explorer based functions are extremely large, pixelated and absent text.I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x32 on a 2009 Toshiba Satellite In the last year of high school and don't have most of my files backed up anywhere?
