So I'm guessing the new HT Omega drivers for Windows 7 may have been released a little prematurely. I can install the drivers but as soon as the audio service is initialized the whole system locks up, requiring a hard reboot. Anyone else have this problem?
By the way, I have the regular CLARO, not the +.
no win 7 beta driver yet from ht omega.control panal applet freezes my pc-if i try to open it.

I've been using Windows 7 x64 as my default OS since build 7000.
I have an HT Omega Striker 7.1 sound card that has worked fine from build 7000 to 7127. I used the Vista x64 driver for all these builds. I used 7127 for quite some time because when I tried upgrading to 7264, I encountered a problem.
After installing the driver, whether it's the Vista driver or the 7 driver, it won't let me open ANY applications besides explorer (not IE). It tries to open and then (I assume) it crashes, because nothing comes up and the icon fades back as if I never clicked it. (Although, if I open Task Manager, I can see *.exe running but only using 2mb of RAM...?) I can uninstall the driver, reboot, and all my applications work again.
I have no sound without the driver and no applications with the driver.
Also, this problem is still around in 7600, as I just tried it.
Can anyone provide any insight on what the problem may be?
After building my current system and getting frustrated that Realtek wasn't producing any passable sound for my 5.1 speakers, I decided to pick up a soundcard and found the Striker 7.1 from HT Omega had great reviews.
I installed the Windows 7 drivers from their site and had beautiful sound for about a minute before it started deteriorating and I was listening to something from my music that sounded like the devil singing underwater. I replugged the jacks in and got not change, so I started searching around and found some solutions on this site. Merging the Windows 7 and vista drivers (-HsMgr.exe) worked okay, but I had some pops and static in the sound. Installing just the vista drivers worked pretty well for awhile wither fewer pops and static, but the sound again deteriorated after about 15 minutes.
Now I am at a loss. Is this a driver, software, or hardware problem? All I can currently think of is that I'm using a RC of Windows 7 professional 64bit that was out just before the official release, and perhaps I should reformat with whats currently on the shelves. I'd much rather find out I should try that than return the card or find out my pci slot is faulty.
I have the HTOmega striker 7.1, and I cannot get windows to recognize it. I try to load the drivers and it says that "there is no device installed". This card worked perfectly in my XP media center ed. But I have been fighting with this a couple of days trying to get this thing sorted. I have the onboard sound off in the bios. This is in windows 7 home premium.

running optical out and into my amplifier, have tested the amplifier input, and the optical cable. tried the drivers from manufacturers website, a couple sets of vista drivers, no drivers, and tried switching the default optical out back and forth with different drivers in the windows 7 "manage audio devices" screen.
on that screen it shows a sound bar going up and down, as if the pc thinks it is sending sound out of that output,. but nothing. double checked the optical line is coming out of the output on the back of the card, checked volume...out of ideas!
anyone else have this issue? not sure if the drivers are not working properly or just need to try some different vista drivers and squeeze sound out until the windows 7 drivers are working properly.
(should mention this exact setup worked fine 2 days ago, until i installed windows 7)
i have a compaq presario cq56 hp laptop and it suddenly died on me it boots up to a black screen and the caps light flashers once continually and the f12 button is on solid orange..I read that the CPU is not functioning is there a fix for this and how.

Anyway, has anyone gotten ANY Blu-Ray drive to work in Win 7 64-bit yet? I've got the LG GGC-H20L Blu-ray/HD combo and I was at least able to get the drive to lose the caution/warning symbol in the device manager thanks to the reg edit in another thread. But I still can't get the drive to read any blu-rays. I've using Total Media Theatre which is fantastic in Vista.
Just wondering what some others have encountered on their Win 7 journey. Anything with 32-bit(I might triple boot just to find out)? Anything with a different program? Anybody with a different drive? Heck, anybody with the SAME drive?

I can't recall changing anything, so I'm not sure why this is happening. When opening the cam in skype, windows live messenger, or lifeframe3, it keeps saying that the cam is in use by another application. I've reinstalled the driver, but to no avail. Every time I use the machine, and especially when on the net, the system stops functioning and I get the BSOD with a warning it is performing a crash dump. The screen stays on for a few seconds and then I am asked to restart windows. I cannot understand all the messages but it does mention problem with new hardware or software.

The only solution is to restart the computer.Windows Support says for me to call Toshiba, and Toshiba Support blames it on Windows. It seems obvious (even though nothing is obvious with computers) that the keyboard is in working order - since I can type 99 percent of the time - the glitch has to be with Windows.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a new standard account on my computer. I installed chrome and messenger onto it, then switched back to my admin account. I opened up chrome, and my history, themes, and all customizations were gone. It gave me some error that I failed to record. I tried to install a theme but it gave me the same error. I decided to uninstall chrome. But when I attempted to re-install it, it wouldn't work. I eventually gave up and tried to install firefox. It gave me an error something along the lines of "Profile is missing or inaccessible" I also attempted to open trillian, an IM program. Usually, it automatically logs in, but this time I had to manually type it in. But it would not log me in, giving me an error "unable to read from or write to the configuration directory for this account" I had a similar problem with yahoo messenger. Afterwards I discovered, my music files and videos I had on my admin account would not play, and gave me an error. The songs were erased off of my media player, and even though the files were still on my computer, none of them would play.Everything on my new account seems to work, but nothing on my admin account will work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bootcamped my Macbook Pro 15" (2010) model and installed Windows 7 within a 40GB partition. Shortly after I ran out of space and needed to upgrade my partition. So I created a system repair disc and created a system image. Then I rebootcamped and installed Windows 7 on an 80GB partition. Before I reinstalled and repartitioned my hdd, I booted from my system repair disc to check for functionality. It worked fine and allowed my the option of checking or unchecking the box that reads "Format and repartition discs". Now that I've reinstalled windows 7 AND all the apple drivers using my OS X disc, when I boot from the system repair CD and follow the steps, I cannot uncheck the box asking to format all discs. I can't do this obviously because it would format the entire hdd and delete my OS X partition which has all my stuff backed up on and has all of my data.
