I wanted to delete a folder in my documents but it was giving me an error which I cannot remember exactly now, but after doing some research, most sites had suggested that I run a Chkdsk. My computer successfully completed the Chkdsk, but now my computer is in some sort of coma where it loads up fine, but after logging in, there is no text whatsoever on the screen. On top of this the start bar does not work and any explorer based functions are extremely large, pixelated and absent text.

It said it found errors and fixed them from what I saw it didn't look like it recovered any corrupt data files but must of fixed something else. Now it says I need to format the drive I said NO but now it just hangs if I try to open the drive right click on the drive etc. What is the best way to save my data from getting lost?

Anyway, has anyone gotten ANY Blu-Ray drive to work in Win 7 64-bit yet? I've got the LG GGC-H20L Blu-ray/HD combo and I was at least able to get the drive to lose the caution/warning symbol in the device manager thanks to the reg edit in another thread. But I still can't get the drive to read any blu-rays. I've using Total Media Theatre which is fantastic in Vista.
Just wondering what some others have encountered on their Win 7 journey. Anything with 32-bit(I might triple boot just to find out)? Anything with a different program? Anybody with a different drive? Heck, anybody with the SAME drive?
I installed Win 7 Home Premium and I am having trouble spinning up my CD Drives (both of them). They were working under Win XP.If I attempt to install a game, the CD does not spin up.
Several times I have installed/reinstalled java but Win 7-64 Home Premium does not allow this to run.Programme is installed but applications, e.g. ping test speed test are reporting Java requires to be installed.

I have an ASUS N61Jv, running Windows 7 Professional 64bit (legal, pre-installed). The built in webcam is suddenly not functioning anymore. I can't recall changing anything, so I'm not sure why this is happening. When opening the cam in skype, windows live messenger, or lifeframe3, it keeps saying that the cam is in use by another application. I've reinstalled the driver, but to no avail. I have also reinstalled the software programs.

Bought a new HP computer with Windows7. Has plenty of memory and large hard drive. I copied my old files from an XP machine. Have not installed any new hardware. Every time I use the machine, and especially when on the net, the system stops functioning and I get the BSOD with a warning it is performing a crash dump. The screen stays on for a few seconds and then I am asked to restart windows. I cannot understand all the messages but it does mention problem with new hardware or software.
So I'm guessing the new HT Omega drivers for Windows 7 may have been released a little prematurely. I can install the drivers but as soon as the audio service is initialized the whole system locks up, requiring a hard reboot. Anyone else have this problem?
a message box appeared on my screen and after i clicked yes, i noticed that all my desktop icons turned white and wen i try to click them, they will attempt to open with windows photo viewer which is always not successful because the windows photo view displays a message that says it cant open dis file. Normally, d icons should show d logo of the application and wen clicked, they should open the application but mine is not working dis way anymore.
My one RAM chip just stop functioning (some RAM parity error?). Now i have only 1 GB RAM(ddr2 pc2 6400/5300) in one slot and another slot is empty. I wanted to know if i could install another RAM chip in this slot (of probably higher MHz frequency or of ddr3 type) while maintaining compatibility with the existing one.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop which is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.I don't know how long it has been since the DVD drive stop functioning. Whenever I insert a factory DVD,CD, or even custom/ blanks my drive does not recognize the inserted device. For some reason, which I cant understand, the drive itself clocks, but the OS isn't recognizing anything. When I checked the drivers, it said they were up to date.
The ALT Keys on my USB Keyboard used to work perfectly fine until around the 1st. I'm unsure of what caused this issue. The computer I'm using is a laptop and both of the ALT keys on the laptop work perfectly fine. The USB Keyboard I have has ALT keys but those don't function at all. They used to, but not anymore.I've tried checking and unchecking sticky keys, looking at the On-Screen Keyboard, uninstalling, rolling back, and updating drivers... full system restores to middle of last month which is about a week before I suspected it stopped working.
I have made a thread earlier with some SS. Unfornunately i forgot to submit my thread so here I am. I am not at home but I would like to ask about my wireless lan driver. I just recently installed windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite U500. It's original OS is Windows Vista. At the first day that I changed to windows 7, Everything is working perfectly. But the second day, My Wireless lan Driver is not working. I have my WiFi on but whenever i troubleshoot it, it says connect an ethernet cable, and it says something is broken..

Ever since I installed Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite computer, the keyboard unexpectedly stops functioning at times, perhaps once a week. The only solution is to restart the computer.Windows Support says for me to call Toshiba, and Toshiba Support blames it on Windows. It seems obvious (even though nothing is obvious with computers) that the keyboard is in working order - since I can type 99 percent of the time - the glitch has to be with Windows.
I am getting this error, a device attached to the system is not functioning, when I try and log in remotely after I have successfully logged in before. Also I get the same error when I try and log in locally.
I created a new standard account on my computer. I installed chrome and messenger onto it, then switched back to my admin account. I opened up chrome, and my history, themes, and all customizations were gone. It gave me some error that I failed to record. I tried to install a theme but it gave me the same error. I decided to uninstall chrome. But when I attempted to re-install it, it wouldn't work. I eventually gave up and tried to install firefox. It gave me an error something along the lines of "Profile is missing or inaccessible" I also attempted to open trillian, an IM program. Usually, it automatically logs in, but this time I had to manually type it in. But it would not log me in, giving me an error "unable to read from or write to the configuration directory for this account" I had a similar problem with yahoo messenger. Afterwards I discovered, my music files and videos I had on my admin account would not play, and gave me an error. The songs were erased off of my media player, and even though the files were still on my computer, none of them would play.Everything on my new account seems to work, but nothing on my admin account will work.
Last night my keyboard and touchpad stopped working on my laptop and now I'm using the usb mouse and the "On screen keyboard". I have done a system restore but to no avail. I've also taken out the battery (found in another thread) but nothing. In device manager there is an exclamation mark next these:1. Under keyboard. keyboard device filter2. Under mouse and other pointing devices. ELAN PS/2 port smart padDouble clicking both of them gets these properties for each respectively:1. Under keyboard. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)2. Under ELAN PS/2 port smart pad. This device cannot start. (Code 10)The laptop is an Asus x53sv running win 7 64bitI made a recovery disc (in fact there 5) when I first got it but using that wipes the hard drive C:. I know that for XP there is a repair program which you get to by following the procedure for doing a re-install but you have this option which doesn't wipe the hard drive. I've used it.Does something similar exist for Win 7?
my keyboard and mouse doesnt work when i boot my pc..but when i tried it again and again only my mouse will work but during startup repair it will not function again...whats the problem with my pc? is it the mouse and keyboard or its inside the cpu ?
I bootcamped my Macbook Pro 15" (2010) model and installed Windows 7 within a 40GB partition. Shortly after I ran out of space and needed to upgrade my partition. So I created a system repair disc and created a system image. Then I rebootcamped and installed Windows 7 on an 80GB partition. Before I reinstalled and repartitioned my hdd, I booted from my system repair disc to check for functionality. It worked fine and allowed my the option of checking or unchecking the box that reads "Format and repartition discs". Now that I've reinstalled windows 7 AND all the apple drivers using my OS X disc, when I boot from the system repair CD and follow the steps, I cannot uncheck the box asking to format all discs. I can't do this obviously because it would format the entire hdd and delete my OS X partition which has all my stuff backed up on and has all of my data.
My Windows update appears corupt it fails to update and the screen is relativly bland however it looks like it is trying to connect but never does anything
No one has honestly provided any answers or solutions to this problem I am running Windows 7 And I have attempted every solution offered but to no avail the Windows Update still does ot function properly?

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion g7 laptop. It has Windows 7 and I have Internet Explorer 9. When I click on links in my emails it opens up a new tab, but does not open the actual web page. In addition some links on webpages don't work (for instance the Print link on Google Maps). My popup blocker is turned off. What do I have to do to get these links to work?
