Windows 7 Checkdisk Scan Now Says Need To Format?
Oct 20, 2012I have an external usb hard drive (2tb I think) that I ran Microsoft scan disk on I (right click the drive in my computer then tools etc.)Option to automatically fix errors was checked.Before the scan I could access the drive and files but was having problems with a certain program so I decided to run the scan. It said it found errors and fixed them from what I saw it didn't look like it recovered any corrupt data files but must of fixed something else.Now it says I need to format the drive I said NO but now it just hangs if I try to open the drive right click on the drive etc. What is the best way to save my data from getting lost?

My computer successfully completed the Chkdsk, but now my computer is in some sort of coma where it loads up fine, but after logging in, there is no text whatsoever on the screen. On top of this the start bar does not work and any explorer based functions are extremely large, pixelated and absent text.

IF IT BOOTS takes and an incredibly long time to get to the desktop (20-45min). Does not want to run programs. Runs EXTREMELY slowly (makes a windows 95 pc look like a speed demon.) Random restarts, restart loops, and shutdowns. Sometimes after turning on it will immediately shut off then turn back on. Keeps recommending windows repair on startup. Wants to run chkdsk, then freezes on it.Malware detection programs. Hardware diagnostic programs. registry tools. disk defrags. Driver updates. Windows updates. BIOS update. System restore. Windows repair tool. Repair installation (twice). WINDOWS 7 CLEAN INSTALLATION (twice).Exactly the same as the first day it started happening. Restart Windows 7 - Computer Freezes With Three Colored Dots On Screen
Oct 20, 2011My Gateway runs great until a restart is requested by me or a program. A few days ago, it would restart just fine. When I select Restart, the computer appears to shut down fine, it beeps to restart, the Windows 7 screen begins to open but it freezes with three colored dots on the screen. It always stops in exactly the same place.
If I kill power, then boot again I get an offer for Windows to repair itself. If I let it, it cannot repair. If I select Boot Windows Normally, all is well. Except for this one problem, things are really running well. Odd. I've run Chkdsk, SFC/ SCANNOW, and PC Pitstop Optimize3. Nothing finds a problem or fixes anything.

Feb 11, 2012I am little bit worried about my harddrive. Previously I had 80 gb harddrive and then I upgraded it to 320 gb. I have dell latitude d630 laptop with two operating system. Windows 7 and XP. When I use Windows 7 then my computer specially hard drive light stays on and mouse is busy and I have to restart my laptop however in my XP this problem is never seen. I also installed vista and deep formatted the hard drive but the problem still persists in windows 7. The system is normal but when I surf internet via mozilla or chrome. This problem arises. I have done everytrouble shooting I can chkdsk and everything but when I use chkdsk in my western digital harddrive, it says error. I am thinking its harddrive issue what do u say?

Computer Seems Slow And Sometimes Freezes?
May 6, 2011I am having trouble with my computer which is still farely new (got it at christmas time),. The computer was built by Cyberpower has Intel Core i5 CPU 650@3.20GHz 3.19GHz, 4.0 GB RAM, 64 bit operatings system in it. I have recently been having trouble where I click to go from one page to another whil on internet, and it seems to freeze up and take a minute or so to catch up. I have 94% free memory so it does not seem it should be freezing or running slow as it is. I run Norton security on it and if anything it only ever comes up with tracking cookies.
When I go into Hijack this and click on run scan and safe results I have a box that comes up saying For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file.If any hijacked domains are in this file, Hijack This may not be able to fix this.If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, blah, blah, blah....I did that but the notepad came up saying This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. There is also an example of a hosts file but then it says localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.1. How to I go to DNS and what do I do there to make the program workroperly.. I want to upload the data from my scan and have someone tell me if there are any files I need to remove because I do not know enough about this program to do it on my own
Computer Randomly Freezes
Jul 13, 2011I just recently bought my computer, It's been only about 4 months. I spent about 3k on it. It has 16 gigs of ram, Asus motherboard, ATI firepro v7800 which is a $750 graphics card, liquid cooling for my processor and I have a 120 SSD. Since a week or so I've been noticing my computer do weird stuff like if I'm listening to music and doing some work with 3d softwares the sound randomly lags a bit for about 1-3 seconds. And sometimes it messes up my mouse cursor.I spent quite a bit of money on my computer and bought all the parts that were top of the line 4 months ago. I would expect a new computer worth 3k to work exceptionally well and not be slow or anything. Does any have any idea what might be causing this problem? Do you think a part might be deffective and is not working properly and so how would I test it to confirm?
