I am able to boot into Windows setup but I get a BSOD at the "setup is starting Windows" step.
I've got a Dell laptop that has to be returned for a refund and I was wondering how to transfer my bookmarks over to a thumbdrive? I want to have them ready so I can put them on my new laptop when I decide what I'm getting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have problem with my laptop acer aspire 4730zg,im trying to install windows 7 in my laptop using secondhand hardisk 80g,the original harddisk is 250g has corrupted.my first problem is in the middle of installation an error pop-up saying "windows cannot be installed to this disk".This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk.Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."I try changing from "IDE to AHCI" and "AHCI to IDE" in the bios menu but still does not work both ways.I tried to install WinXP,VIsta and Windows 7 and all still stuck in the middle of installation.So i want to update bios,because there is a bios update from acer that fix unbootable hardisk problem for this model.
My second problems are since the hardisk does not have any OS install,i cannot update bios using regular method.I need to flash it using thumbdrive in dos,if anyone can show me step by step to update bios and how to create the bootable thumbdrive for this model
I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs. I keep getting an error along the following lines: Quote: ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again. Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Windows 7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.
Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install

Would there be any advantages to install proper drivers? because right now my computer runs perfectly stable and smooth using the Windows7 ones.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Windows 7 Professional onto a computer from an 8GB USB drive.I can boot from the USB fine but when it asks you choose where you want to install Windows it can't find any drives and it says I must load a driver. This is strange because if I put the hard drive into another computer it will install Windows perfectly.I can see the HDD in the BIOS but it just can't see it when installing Windows. I have a Western Digital 320GB HDD. Any ideas what's wrong, or perhaps where I can get a driver for it? I have looked on the WD website but couldn't find anything.

Anyways, I have found that my best option (possibly the only one) is to slipstream my NVIDIA drivers into the iso install and then reinstall the OS. I am unable to get into safe mode on the Windows 7 install due to Setup not completing the initial boot process. Either way...Does anyone happen to know how to Slipstream drivers into my Windows 7 iso while using XP? I have found numerous ways on how to do it while using Vista, but not much can be found on how to with XP.

I downloaded the Windows 7 64bit drivers for my new laptop off the HP website and the setup goes well all the way to the end when I connect the printer and wait for it to go through the driver install process. I get to step 7 of 8 and it stalls out for quite a while. When it finally completes it says that the install failed. The driver is not installed. I tried this several times. Even completely uninstalled the printer and reinstalled. I then ordered the disk from HP and tried to install directly from it but I got the exact same problem.
Is there some sort of trick i'm missing? I used compatibility mode, and tried the "have disc" trick under device manager with no success.

When I put the windows 7 disk in and try to install it, I get the error "A required CD / DVD drive device driver is missing." The drive did come with a disk that includes Nero burner and on the front says includes drivers, but windows still won't recognize it.
