I was jailbreaking my ipod, and something went wrong. While I was doing the whole DFU thing a little pop-up notification showed up about installing new USB device. The Ipod rebooted and the computer froze. After I hit the reset button, everything starts loading and it get to the Win7 log in screen...... but the keyboard and mouse do not work. They work in BIOS. They are getting power, but if i unplug them and plug them back in while at the log in screen they dont get power any more. ( they light up, so when i replug them in... no pretty lights). So I tryed safe mode..... Can use keyboard to select boot options, but once win7 loads.... no go.Win7 CD ..... Keyboard and mouse work!!!! But it tells me that my CD is not compatable with this version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my keyboard and mouse are completely usable in the bios and during boot, but once the windows login screen opens up, there is a 30+ second delay before the keyboard and mouse become active. This doesn't appear to be a freeze or lag of any type, just like the keyboard and mouse hasn't been recognized yet. I have a printer and several external drives connected to my computer's USB ports, so I tried unplugging everything but the keyboard and mouse. The time goes down to about 5 seconds, however, the last few times I've tried, there was about a 10 second wait for the mouse to work after the keyboard worked. With only the mouse and keyboard plugged in, I feel this must be either 1) an issue with drivers loading or 2) a specific issue with my USB drivers. Here's what I've done so far to try and troubleshoot. Not sure what to do next.Used google (couldn't find anything that looked related enough to try)Unplugged everything but keyboard and mouse from USB ports - Decreased lag time to 5-15 secondsenabled boot logging, checked file for drivers not loading (attached)Checked bios for legacy USB enabled (it was)Double checked AV software (only MS Security Essentials and Malwarebytes installed, malwarebytes does not run any processes unless I start it up)Having multiple USB devices plugged in upon boot should not delay the usability of my keyboard and mouse.
View 1 Replies View Relatedtrying to recover from a system crash here.. One of the issues was me not being able to install/uninstall microsoft antivirus, since it seems some files were deleted which it needed. I tracked that issue to yet another issue what windows installer could not start, which suggested me to check if it was enables in Msservice.exe, which I couldn't start either. After some googling, I found a fix on MS website, which moved some dll around and asked me to reboot PC. After doing so, it stopped recognizing my keyboard and mouse (both usb) at the login screen, they are completely dead even thou they work on boot and in bios (and are detected in bios).I tried to restoring to the point before the "fix", but same issue.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWas playing Left 4 Dead before and noticed whenever I hold down any key on my keyboard (Logitech G15), and try to move my mouse (G9), the mouse moves, the suddenly stops for a split of a second, moves to where I want it, then stop, etc.
Almost as if the MOUSE had latency issues.
Opened up Autodesk Maya afterwards, spun my scene around using Alt + Mouse, and it's all fine.
Anyone else got anything weird like this? Running 64-bit Windows 7.
FIXED. I verified game cache and restarted computer as well as swapping my USB slots.
Yesterday I got on my computer everything is running fine. Today got on it for awhile and suddenly the USB keyboard and USB mouse lock up. I've tried restarting it and I can't get past the first screen. It says keyboard not present or something around those lines.I plugged in a ps/2 keyboard and it works but my USB mouse will still not work. I've tried going into BIOS and making sure USB was enabled. Tried a system restore but for some reason it wont complete.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi've been experiencing some issues with mouse and keyboard lately. Both of them randomly freezes for a couple of seconds and then just come back normal. Anyway, i tried to ignore this for a couple of days but now when they freeze, they won't come back and i have to reboot the computer manually.I've tried starting windows through safe mode. It still freezed but for a second this time. I'd be so glad if you guys could show me to fix this problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS laptop running Windows 7 64 big home premium. a few days ago I brought it out of sleep mode and when the page came up for my password I had no touch pad or keyboard control. I have tried restarting. I tried using a USB keyboard. I also tried Safe mode and I've got nothing. I turned it off with the power button since I had no other choice. When it comes up with "Windows did not properly shut down" screen i can use my keyboard to select options, however, after the screen I've got nothing. My login screen comes up like normal. I even have a flashing cursor in the password box yet my touch pad and keyboard do nothing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a very strange problem. My mouse clicks by itself, and my keyboard types things I've previously typed EVEN THOUGH it's not plugged in. It's random, but occurs after about 2 hours of use. Could I have gotten a virus or changed some weird setting?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have two PC'c and I would like them to share a mouse and a keyboard. I have heard that could be accomplished via KVM switch ( hardware ) or program called Synergy.
Does anyone have experience with either/both. What is more reliable and seamless?
when I open, it's seemingly random, programs sometimes the usb flicker on and off. For example, the mouse works 1-2 seconds then stops 1-2 seconds and continues like that. Same with the keyboard, it works a few seconds, stops and repeats. When I shut down the program it works again, 'the program' because it's been abit of everything. Sometimes it happens again, so I have to restart again etc. With the new keyboard with back lighting and mouse with dpi indicator I see that the keyboard and mouse flicker with its light on and off, one after another. The usb unplugged sound or whatever it is has also occured with these new peripherals aswell.I've tried disabling power saving option in the Root Hubs in device management, but it doesn't help.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm seeming randomly having a problem on my self-built desktop PC where my keyboard and mouse will freeze up, leaving the computer virtually inoperable. I also get strange hangs in the mouse that last a second or so, leading up to one big hang. There's no BSOD or anything like that.I have to hard reboot in order to do anything. All programs and services continue to run and there's no real warning. Games will continue to play like normal as will videos and music, I just can't alt/tab or Cntrl/Alt/Delete. There's no indication that the devices disconnected physically or otherwise. The LEDs on the keyboard stay lit, so it's not as if it loses power.I have tried unplugging and replugging, updating USB drivers, installing and subsequently uninstalling Logitech software, and physically cleaning the fan (Just to ensure heat wasn't a factor). I've ran virus checks from Avast and Malware Bytes that have come back clean. I've looked into the event viewer, but I'm not very proficient with it and I can't seem to find anything on it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedShortly after installing the latest intellipoint drivers suggested by Windows 7 along with several other updates from windows update, my Microsoft Keyboard stopped working after windows boots up. The mouse works fine but the keyboard does not.The keyboard doesn't respond AFTER windows starts but works fine in BIOS. I can boot to safe mode using F8 but then the keyboard stops working once Windows prompts me to logon.I can even use the sleep mode button on an alternate keyboard (Logitech) I tried later just to debug the problem to put the computer to sleep but the keys to log on aren't responsive. The computer succesfully restarted a few times after installting the updates so it may not directly be related to the windows updates. Either way, it didn't happen on next bootup.
-I tried all my system restore points and that did not work,
-I tried the "on-screen" keyboard just to get past the logon, but it does not pop up. I can get it to pop up in another installation of windows 7 on the same computer.
- I tried the keyboard on a separate (new) installation of Windows 7 on the same computer and it does work fine, but that doesn't solve the problem. Also the "on-screen" keyboard works fine in the new installation.
-I've tried going into BIOS and setting num-lock boot to on (I don't know why but someone suggested this might work for a similar problem) but it didn't work for me.
- I've also tried a few BIOS options that look like they might make a difference like legacy USB 3.0 support but that did not work.
- different USB ports 2.0 or 3.0 for the receiver combo do not make a difference.
Also a clean re-install is not an option for me because the licenses used for Windows and MS Office won't allow another install.I can get to a dos prompt or access the non-working windows 7 drive and files with dual-boot, but I need to get back to access that installation. Is there a way to manually reinstall the drivers via DOS, the other partition, or some other solution that might work?

recently my computer was acting up and would not startup past the "windows is starting up" screen. I really wanted to play a bunch of games I just bought so I kept occasionally getting it to work in "last known good configuration". Safe mode didn't work and eventually I ran a disc I have no idea what it's called but it said soldierx on the screen and ran like 8 virus scans and did a bunch of tests on my comp, apparently geeksquad uses it. Anyways it removed 3120 spyware, but right before I decided to run this the only reason I decided to was because my keyboard and mouse stopped working. It works in the bios and anything before I actually get to my desktop, lights up and everything, even the keyboard shortcuts work such as windows search, but I can't move my mouse or do anything with my keyboard. I ran startup repair and it says that windows can't automatically fix the problem, had my dad do some pin reset thing where you do something with the battery and move pin 1 to 2 and 2 to three or something like that and didn't work, the bios has ps/2 enabled and legacy something enabled which I read could be the problem, and I have no restore points.

I tried doing a system restore, but for some reason my backup disk is not being seen (even though the reader is) and since I got the OEM version of Windows 7 I don't think I can just re-install it.
I am thinking of getting a wireless keyboard and mouse, probably a Logitech, and wonder if, when I power off the computer, the mouse and keyboard will also turn off? It seems like a setting in Power Setting should offer the choice to do so.
