I have installed windows7 on Dell Latitude D630 Laptop. I am not able to install Printer on it. When press Add Printer it is not showing any USB port, although i can use these ports for net and for Pen drive.
View 1 RepliesHave a wireless Lexmark printer for three computers, (His, Hers, Laptop). All were working great. I set up (tried) Homegroup. Piece of cake for Hers and Laptop. His gets "This computer cannot connect to a Homegroup" message - another problem. Hers tried to do 2-sided printing, used to work great but could not now. I noticed that the printer on Hers was now named Laptop. We only use the Laptop for traveling. So I removed Laptop printer on Hers and tried to add the printer. Now I cannot add the printer, it tries, gets to the "installing printer popup and hangs forever with no CPU usage. I cannot cancel. The only way to go on is to restart. Have tried the following all without success. Deleted the printer and the printer drivers. Installed the drivers from DVD. Tried to add printer. Hangs as described above. Plus tried everything else I could think of, removing printer, adding printer, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Mom has an HP laptop. She recently purchased a new HP printer and I have been trying for the last 4 days to get it to install/connect. I've been in touch with HP but the links they provide aren't resolving the issues. First, using the CD that came with the printer: hangs up at around 85-90%. It doesn't not show up as installed. I copied the CD to the desktop, modified Setup.exe in CFFExplorer and Run as Administrator and it appears to completely install; however, when I go to Device Manager, it says no driver is found.
I sometimes have the option to update and sometimes that seems to work but I can't access it through Add a Printer (which has the green bar run across the top, then pulsate and freeze). Trying to install using the driver I download from HP results in no installing screen appearing but it does hang up in the background and the only way to stop it is to Restart. The same thing happens if I try to use HPs Wizard. I've installed several HP printers through the years and not had this much trouble. That doesn't even include the dozens of times I've had to reinstall my own HP printer because of its contrariness!
Additionally, attempts to uninstall the old printer results in it hanging up/freezing soon in to the process, whether I try to uninstall from the Start menu, file or Uninstall program. I'm not even being able to get the Windows Updates to install - that process also just hangs up/freezes. I've not checked her machine in a while so there are many updates; however, when I just choose 1 at a time, it still sits at 0% and never moves. The printer, when connected, is with the USB and I've tried all 4 USB ports on this just in case. Am still in touch with HP but they are sending me the usual links so I'm hoping perhaps someone here can think of something a little less ordinary!
I've just taken delivery of a new windows 7 PC, with i5-2500k/8gb/SSD/1TB HDD, Asus p8z68-v lx motherboard. Everything was going fine with setting up until it came to printers.I have 3 printers connected - Brother HL2030 laser, HP Photosmart D6160 and Epson Stylus photo R2400 - and NONE of them will work. All three came up with "your device is installed correctly etc etc" message. I can't print documents or even a test page. I've downloaded and installed Brother's W7 driver - zilch. HP site says you lose most of the functionality of toollbox etc but "the windows 7 default driver should work" - it doesn't. Likewise the Epson. I've tried 3 or 4 times to reinstall them all, deleting each first from the control panel, and absolutely no joy.I'm sure I must be doing something wrong but can't figure

Printing's been working fine up until about a week ago. Suddenly I'm unable to print out of chrome. Whenever I try to print I get an error that says "Printer not Installed" in the browser. I disable the "print preview" chrome has recently implemented but that doesn't work. I reinstall Chrome to no avail. I try to print in Firefox and get a different error... "An Error Occurred while Printing." I do some research and then realize I can't print out of Acrobat Pro. My print settings dialog in Acrobat is unlike any I've ever seen and no options work. I can't change the paper size or access the printer settings from the Acrobat Print Dialog.
Steps I've taken so far:
Reinstalled the printer
Restarted Print Spooler
Deleted the Port
Reinstalled Printer again with new drivers
Successfully Printed Test Pages after each of these steps. Still could not print out of other programs.
Successfully Printed out of MS Word
I logged in under a different user and was able to print out of firefox.

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.12 Ghz
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB PCI-e
320 GB Western Digital HD SATA
1 Gb DDR2 1066 MHz and 2x2Gb DDR2 1066 MHz SDRAM
I set my boot sequence to boot from DVD-ROM drive first, and HD second. It goes to the "Windows is loading files" screen and gets hung up. I started the process and went to watch TV for an hour, and it is still on the "Windows is loading files" screen. I haven't gotten any error messages. I've unplugged all USB devices from my computer as I have seen on this forum that it has worked for some people.
edited to add: I originally had only 2 Gb of RAM, and it got hung up at the "Windows is loading files" screen. I thought it was getting hung up because I didn't have enough RAM, so I bought brand new 2 sticks of 2 Gb RAM. I took out one of the 1 Gb sticks and placed both of the 2 Gb of RAM...for a total of 5 Gigs. And, it is still doing the same thing.

I've got a bootable USB stick, and I've modified my bios to boot from USB first. When I reboot my computer, the windows seven install setup begins. I select the new hard drive and begin installation. All goes well, and it eventually says "Windows needs to restart to continue". The computer reboots (remember, it's booting from USB first), and immediately goes right back to the beginning of the set up process. So I'm in the infinite loop of running the set up process, but it never gets passed that. Any ideas with what I'm doing wrong? Set up seems to go fine, but after reboot, it just starts over again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOk So I recently got a virus on my computer and it really wasn't going away with any anti virus program so I reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch.Everything seemed to go off without a hitch and all drivers were found and the like BUT after about a day or so I couldn't install any programs. I've tried ITunes, The new Office Suite, Enterprise but nothing seems to install. I keep getting an error message that I need to "Install as Administrator" even though I'm on the adminstrator account, AND when I click "Run as Administrator" it still doesn't install. ITunes spit out the error that I was running in Safe Mode when I wasn't at all.I'm just at wits end. Should I reinstall Windows 7 again? Could I have gotten another Virus? It just seems really really odd. Also the version of Windows 7 I installed WAS not the same version I got when purchasing the Laptop. I recieved it through MSDNA from my college.

This has been burnt to DVD and i have attempted twice to install from the DVD. On each of these last 2 ocassions it has reached the 'configuration' stage but has failed at 15% then 'reverted the changes'.I have run the System Update Readiness Tool ( this said it installed ok ), i have turned off Avast AV and i have disconnected from the internet during installation.I notice in Windows Update there are a lot of old updates which have 'failed' - updates which were released before SP1 was. Should i attempt in install these first then try SP1 again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use two types of paper, one ordinary (in the ordinary paper tray), one coloured (in the rear tray), hence with XP I installed my Canon MP560 printer twice, one with properties for the ordinary tray, one with properties for the rear tray. Then I can select which paper I want by selecting which printer (and just naming them differently ie CanonMP560 ordinary and CanonMP560 colour )! I just copied the first installation, pasted it for the second installation, then changed the properties to suit. My installation is WIFI, and now that I am with Windows 7 I can find no way of having the same set up
