Feb 18, 2012
I have 2 computers a desk top with Windows XP a new Sony laptop with Windows 7 Try as I might I cant get past the Play button when I go to the [URL] site All I get is blank page when I click on the Play button?
Last night I was on the internet at home absolutely fine and my laptop automatically downloaded an update, since then I have been unable to connect to my wi-fi. I deleted the updates and was still unable to connect, so I tried to used a system recovery restore point and every one I use starts but fails to complete. So, I did a factory reset after around 8 hours of trying to sort it out today and I STILL have the same problem. I can plug in the cable to connect and my housemate is having absolutely no issues connecting and neither is my phone so now I am at a total loss what I should do to resolve this. Prior to the factory reset I was able to connect to the wi-fi but it was stating no network access/limited access and now it simply won't connect to my internet at all. It finds my full strength signal but will not connect. My drivers for the Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n card are the most up to date and the laptop (HP G62) says it is working fine.
Am on Windows 7, and reinstalled it couple of times before, although it works probably, but games dont work, gives me crashAPP message, and even failed to install it. even play player dont play some files. am wondering is this is due to deleted Reg keys, and how can I restore deleted reg keys if I reinstalled windows. or reinstalling windows has the cure ?
Im trying to play an old game on my new laptop.. the os is windows 7 and it says that l cant play the game becaus of the 62 bit.. I know you can change this but is it easy to do and if so how
i resently had my laptop reinstald from vista to windows 7 (my C was full and i had nothing instald on it, its just up-dates, so it was needed)the problem now is, before if some games dont work as the sims 3, i just opend the system en opend the advanged to add the sims in a list that DEP allows it
but for some reason i cannot do that now, the text below command about needing to be admin (wich as only user on the lap i am), and run the BCSEDIT.exe.i run it (even as admin) but it the problem keeps going on.i noticed some ways to turn the DEP off on this site, but that seems a bit extreem (as that people most of the time warn that its not the best option)
I am trying to play some games, but I can't because of this problem. I only have 64mb dedicated video memory, when in fact, I have 1696mb graphics memory. Also, there is a combined graphics card, one worse than the other, and I always seem to be suing the worse one, whne i want to use the better one. BTW, I am using an ASUS.
I am using Win 7 64bit. I am unable to get to Facebook (and Mozilla, probably many others) through IE 9, Firefox, and Chrome.
If I use Win XP, I can access Facebook from all three browsers. I have tried multiple PCc/Laptops and the same thing happens....it works in XP but not in Windows 7 x64.
If I run an XP virtual machine within the Win 7 machine, I can access Facebook. It seems to be something with Win 7 64bit (maybe 32bit as well?)
If use a web proxy like HidemyAss.com I can at least bring up the Facebook login page, though cookies become an issue.
I have followed multiple suggestions from other sites i found such as clear cache, DNS cache, resetting TCP/IP stack etc.
I have a canon lbp 3300 printer attached to a windows 7 system. Recently i changed its user access configuration through device and printers. But now i am not able to access this even in administrator account or in any account having admin privileges.
I upgraded to a new compaq laptop last year with windows 7 installed, and now i'm unable to play my old dos games and its giving me this error message when i try to play :
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
I have dos box and it's still not working!! I would of assumed windows 7 would of had a program installed that would automatically allow you to play these games? What do i need to do? I'm not always keen or too confident at changing my computers settings is there a laymans guide at all?
This same problem happened about 1-2 months ago on the first user profile on the computer. My cousin and I searched google and all we could find was deleting 1 of 2 registries or something along those lines, we tried and it didn't work. Since the problem seemed like a one in a million shot, we eventually settled on copying the contents of the other user profile into a new user profile through the hidden administrator account. We just used that account instead. The other account is still on the computer as well
Constantly having to "play games" with Permissions and Security and "denied access". First of all, I don't understand why Windows 7 Home Version is NOT designed for home use but apparently for some large corporation the size of...uh..maybe...MICROSOFT? Why isn't a HOME version created for use in a home where we don't have an "Administrator" and we aren't dealing with CIA files or hiding from our spouses.(usually).
my network connection has been dropping when I try to play any online game (I've tried 3 different games). I can browse, stream video/music. As well as download at speeds over 1MBs. But whenever I open an online game windows notifies me that I have no internet connection, but shows that I am still wirelessly connected to my router. This computer is brand new and has a fresh install of windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. This computer is the only one in the home having the issue, there are several other devices that are able to connect wirelessly with no issue. I have tried 2 different brand new wireless cards, with the newest drivers. I've also assured that my motherboard has the newest drivers. My event viewer shows several issue pertaining to both DNS issues, and to the Wlan.config I believe. I will check when I get home later this evening on the exact errors and their error codes. My next step is to try to reset my winsock and TCP/IP stack.
I recently had a problem with my games (found in the thread here) that involved the games lagging badly. It turned out to be an image settings preference that I hadn't set properly. In my attempt to fix the problem however I did a clean install of drivers and updated to v301.42.
Since I installed the new driver none of my games would start (NBA 2K12, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim etc.) and simply go to a black windowed screen. Skyrim tells me that 'Your display doesn't support the selected resolution'. However, I am using the native resolution (1680x1050) for my monitor.
Let me first accurately describe what happened. So one of my HDDs failed (I got a new one, a Western Digital Caviar Blue 640gb). I had lot's of applications and games installed on the failed HDD, but nothing important. Now, when I go to re-install those games/apps again, some of them act as if they were installed, and attempt to uninstall (the hard drive failed so it was unable to uninstall the correct way). So, it will not let me re-install those programs, until I uninstall them. They are unable to uninstall because they cannot find "Drive D:," which is the failed drive, and they are probably still somewhere in my computer's registry, but the install directories are gone with the failed drive. How to reinstall my programs again. I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
i use a dell laptop and i cant be able to play any game even the OS games. it says directDraw acceleration, DirectD3 acceleration and AGP texture acceleration are not available. Ii also says hardware acceleration is disabled?
Today is the first time I have had to access my work pc remotely so went out and bought Windows 7 Home. I accessed my works VPN network via the browser (have an icon in my taskbar called "network Connect" which tell me how long I have been connected for), I was able to ping my work PC but when I tried connect via Remote Desktop I was getting an error: Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: 1)Remote Access to the server is not enabled 2) The remote computer is turned off 3) The remote computer is not available on the network Make sure the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled."
I have an Acer Aspire 5542 Laptop running Windows 7 and have had no problems until recently. I went to check my Hotmail and found I could not get to Hotmail.com then my msn messenger signed out and would not sign back in.
I then noticed that I could not get to any Microsoft site but all other sites work fine. I am a computer tech and run a small home network the laptop being the only machine running windows 7 all other run XP or Linux all other machines can access all Microsoft sites so I am pretty sure the problem lies with the laptop, however after running every scan I can think of and coming up empty I wiped the mbr and recreated the hard drive partition and reinstalled windows with the factory restore disks.
Recently my XP machine bite the dirt and on one of its IDE NTFS HD contained a few folders with hidden and encrypted files. Thinking this was a decent way to keep family members from touching my work, I never excepted them to become inaccessible after I installed Win 7 Pro 64bit.
My problem is that I am unable to open, or move any of the encrypted and hidden files within the folders, yet I am able to only copy the folders, but without the files contained within, as I receive permissions errors.
When I try to move one of the files, I get a File Access denied error stating "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy this file", I press continue, and I get another error "Your require permission from Administrators to make changes to this file".
My user account "Mark" is an Administrator within the Administrators group, and I have set User Acccount Control to it's default setting. I have also enabled the hidden default Administrator account, logged in as it, and receive the same errors. If it makes any difference, the username of my XP machine was PHOENIX/Administrator
When I view the file attributes, Read-only, and Hidden are not selected, but under Advanced "Encrypt Contents" is selected. If I click details, I receive an EFS error "Unable to find the user information for the file", and another window appears called User Access with all of its options grayed out.
If I took at the Security Tab of one of the files, it says "You must be an administrative user with permissions to view this objects security properties", I click continue, and it shows the Administrators group (PHOENIX Administrators) with allow full control selected. After pressing ok, I click on Advanced, I click on the Owner Tab, and current Owner says "Unable to display current Owner", so I click on Edit, and I have the option to change owner to PHOENIX Administrators or PHOENIXMark, I chose Mark, press Apply and close and reopen the windows. I then try to move the file again, but this time the error says "I need permission from PHOENIXMark to make changes to the file"
I've had no problems accessing the other files from the XP HD, but I've spent weeks now combing forums for solutions, and I just can't access the hidden and encrypted files from the XP hard drive. I was able to access one encrypted and hidden spreadsheet without a problem, so I don't understand why I cannot access these two groups of folders and the files within their subfolders.
I've installed Windows 7, is nice I must say but there is a problem I cannot access a NAS that is attached to my network.
I have configured Windows 7 for be inside the correct workgroup and activated some stuff in the panel for access remote files, but every time that I try to connect to the NAS I get an error 1208. The NAS is a NexStar LX
My 15 year old son was trying to bypass Cyberpatrol and in the process of tring to change his account from an adminstrator to a standard user I've made things worse. I changed the administrator account in his name to a standard user account but there was no other administrator account on the PC other then something called CYBERPATROL_SERVICE which is an administrative account istalled automatically by Cyberpatrol. This was the first mistake. Then he guessed the password to Cyberpatrol and attemped to uninstall it...it only 'half' uninstalled it, leaving a real mess of error messages and no access to let me change anything. I can now neither reinstall cyberpatrol or unistall it, nor can I see a way to log back in as an administrator to effect any changes to put things right. Three emails to cyberpatrol have elicited no response so I'm coming to the conclusion the onlu way out is to reinstall Windows 7 and find a different web filtering program- is there any way to log back in a an administrator? I didnt delete the admin account, only changed it to a standard type. Then If I can get back in as a administrator how can I get rid of the unwanted Cyberpatrol?
I have a laptop computer with Windows 7. This morning, every time I try to enter any program, I get a message which reads: Choose which program you want to open this file". This has never happened before. I tried going into Safe Mode, but the same message pops up when I attempt to open any program there as well. I tried scanning the computer with AVG, but am unable to because I get that same message. Is this some sort of virus? And what can I do to remove this message?
Also, I'm unable to go into regedit. I got a message which reads: File not found.
EDIT: I am able to access my programs in the Start menu. Now, I'm thinking that I might need to delete my shortcuts and replace them with new ones.
I am having problems with my daughter's laptop accessing the internet with her wifi, She accidentally reset her laptop back to factory settings. She also didn't make any recovery disks. The problem is now the laptop keeps asking for a network user name/Password when she tries to access the internet. I have researched this issue but to no avail. I am curious as to how to resolve this issue. I feel the only way may be to reset the wireless router back to factory settings and start again.
I have windows 7 premium desk top and out of the blue I was unable to access internet. I Then booted my lap top and all was good. I notice on the internet settings on laptop the IPv4 stated " internet" and the IPv6 states " local " on the desk top IPv4 state "internet" and the IPv6 states " no internet" upon rebooting the computer in safe networking mode I was once again able to browse in safe mode.
I recently reinstalled my copy of windows 7 on my laptop. I saved all my files to an external hard drive so that I could reload them after I was finished. I forgot I had some folders locked to my user account so after the install I cannot view or transfer them back to my laptop because it recognizes my computer as a different account.
I have a wireless router "Belkin", and when I am try and access the internet I receive an error message "Server not found" this only occurred occasionally an once I would connect directly it would solve the problem. And I would again be able to go wireless. However, the problem has occurred and now persists. My IT guy at work suggested that I remove my wireless driver and reinstall I did that and I am still experiencing the same problem. Here is my "ipconfig/all":
Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : MININT-1GU3A0D Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : Belkin
I've added a new laptop to my home network (now 3 computers, all of them with win 7 ultimate 64) . I didn't use home group because i don't like it, so i configured everything manually and everything worked great, file sharing. printer sharing, everything. And then I added a password to my user on the new laptop to protect it and the sharing between the laptop and the two other computers stopped working. when i try to access the laptop from another computer it reports i have no access, and when i try to access one of the computers from the laptop it asks for a user name and password.i uninstalled firewall - didn't help. reinstalled. i removed the password - problem solved. added password again - problem returns.
In Win 7 Home Premium, I apparently did something wrong as I can no longer access the administrator account on my desktop. I am logged in as a guest and have tried just about everything suggested here. I have started in Safe Mode but can't access admin. I have used the installation disk to do a repair and used the activate command in the command prompt. I used the "enableadmin" mentioned on this site. Regardless of what I do here, when I restart I am back in Windows as a Guest. Even doing a system restore made no difference.
It would appear I have to do a clean install but before doing so thought I would ask to see if there is anything else
Recently, I lost access to many of the programs from my desktop. For example...when I try to open My Computer, or Recycle Bin, or Control Panel, I get an error panel stating....."This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program, or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." Unfortunately, I cannot access the Default Programs program either, for the same reason.
