Unable To Use DEP To Accept Games
Nov 7, 2011i resently had my laptop reinstald from vista to windows 7 (my C was full and i had nothing instald on it, its just up-dates, so it was needed)the problem now is, before if some games dont work as the sims 3, i just opend the system en opend the advanged to add the sims in a list that DEP allows it
but for some reason i cannot do that now, the text below command about needing to be admin (wich as only user on the lap i am), and run the BCSEDIT.exe.i run it (even as admin) but it the problem keeps going on.i noticed some ways to turn the DEP off on this site, but that seems a bit extreem (as that people most of the time warn that its not the best option)
Unable To Play Games
Dec 1, 2011I am trying to play some games, but I can't because of this problem. I only have 64mb dedicated video memory, when in fact, I have 1696mb graphics memory. Also, there is a combined graphics card, one worse than the other, and I always seem to be suing the worse one, whne i want to use the better one. BTW, I am using an ASUS.

Jul 4, 2012I recently had a problem with my games (found in the thread here) that involved the games lagging badly. It turned out to be an image settings preference that I hadn't set properly. In my attempt to fix the problem however I did a clean install of drivers and updated to v301.42.
Since I installed the new driver none of my games would start (NBA 2K12, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim etc.) and simply go to a black windowed screen. Skyrim tells me that 'Your display doesn't support the selected resolution'. However, I am using the native resolution (1680x1050) for my monitor.

Sep 20, 2011Am on Windows 7, and reinstalled it couple of times before, although it works probably, but games dont work, gives me crashAPP message, and even failed to install it. even play player dont play some files. am wondering is this is due to deleted Reg keys, and how can I restore deleted reg keys if I reinstalled windows. or reinstalling windows has the cure ?

Nov 1, 2011Let me first accurately describe what happened. So one of my HDDs failed (I got a new one, a Western Digital Caviar Blue 640gb). I had lot's of applications and games installed on the failed HDD, but nothing important. Now, when I go to re-install those games/apps again, some of them act as if they were installed, and attempt to uninstall (the hard drive failed so it was unable to uninstall the correct way). So, it will not let me re-install those programs, until I uninstall them. They are unable to uninstall because they cannot find "Drive D:," which is the failed drive, and they are probably still somewhere in my computer's registry, but the install directories are gone with the failed drive. How to reinstall my programs again. I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Nov 5, 2009ok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.

Sep 25, 2011I have an ASUS N51Vf on which I just changed a defective hard drive with a new one, same size and specs as the old.After a clean windows 7 install all was working fine. I created a System Restore Point. No errors reported, restore point created.I then tried to restore all my data and settings with a back up I had on a external hard drive.This back up has been made with LaCie Genie Back up Assistant, a program with decent review online.After having finished to restore the back up, I was asked to restart windows, which I did. Windows restarted but then it failed to log in giving an error (which appears to be quite common googling it). A window pop up saying "Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details."If you say ok the windows keeps appearing again and again.There was no way to access windows whatever mode (safe, normal and all the other boot option appearing when pressing f8) I choosed. Startup repair was as well ineffective (since there was no problem in the startup process itself.)
People online reported the only way to fix this was to check the event log files on another computer. So I installed Ubuntu on the unallocated space I left when installing win 7, I copied the logs files, I went through all the errors in the event viewer of another computer, particularly those in application.evtx, I copied safe version of winlogon.exe logonUI.exe and userInit.exe on windows/system32 through Ubuntu but nothing worked. Same error preventing log in.I then went into the System Restore Point nasty affair. As I previously mentioned, I created this point prior to restore the LaCie backup. The Restore point was there, accessible through the standard recovery options. What appears is this: standard final window of System Restore and I couldn't select any of this drive and proceed.So I go to the Command Prompt and I realize that windows has been installed on D:, not on C:, which appears to be the system reserved partition with 70Mb free. Something standard when you install Windows 7 apparently. Since my backup was made copying files from C: and I didn't care for the path when restoring my LaCie backup, I thought I messed up things attempting to copy to the wrong drive, even though no error was reported to me.So I formatted everything, reinstalled windows paying attention not to create other partitions. Clean install, all went through fine. I check on Computer what's the windows unit label, and it is C indeed. I didn't check for the presence of other partitions. I re-restore files from the LaCie Backup. At the end I try to create a new System Restore point, but a weird error tells me that I can't. Already suspicious, I restart, to find myself on the exact same position as before, unable to login, unable to restore (both same as previously described) and, moreover, checking through command prompt, win 7 appears to be in the D: unit again with the C: set up to be the system reserved!!

May 18, 2010I am using Windows7 and IE8 on a Dell2350. The computer was working fine till last Friday and now I can't download anything. I keep getting a message saying "Unable to download... Unable to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The dialog box itself doesn't show how big the file is or the download speed or the time left. I also keep getting a message saying a program has corrutped my program setting.

Dec 15, 2012I have 2 computers on the same network (connected to the same router). Now the problem is when one PC hosts a game, the other PC can't see it (and vice a versa). I have tried this with several games (both PCs using each game with same version) and still both PCs can't see each other.
On the other hand, under My Computer-Network, both PCs can see each other and access any shared files between the 2.
PS: Both PCs are running Windows 7 Ultimate x86

Jun 18, 2012I have a very new system in terms of hardware (6950 graphics, Core i5 processor, 8GB DDR3 RAM, etc), yet I get consistent stuttering in games. By stutter, I mean a 3-5 second freeze, that happens every few minutes. These only started up about 2 months ago (have had the computer for about 8 months).
The odd thing though, is that when I leave the computer on for a long time, and have run a number of programs/games already, the stuttering disappears. It only really shows up after I freshly restart the computer. When I put the computer to sleep (even for many many hours) instead of shutting it down, I don't have the stuttering when I bring it back awake, like I would if I had shut it down/ started it up.

Then I played some DiRT 2 about 20 minute's ago, It it does the same thing.Now, I suspect It's only Games For Windows LIVE (GFWL) Games doing it, But then I remember that CoD4 did it. Now I'm afraid that if I play anymore games, And do this too much, That I will Seriously Screw My computer.

Jul 8, 2009Before the flaming begins, yes I'm a mac owner. For reasons which I won't get into mac was just a better choice for me, and I recently purchased a new mac book pro (I was always a pc guy before that). Well I don't know much about mac's and i'm still on the learning curve but that doesn't concern you guys much so here's my question:
I'm looking to get either windows xp or windows 7 to run through bootcamp so I can play games (yes we all know pc's are better for running games, but for now let that fact be irrelevant.) I'm looking to play games such as Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Starcraft 2, and Diablo 3, as well as a few of my favorite oldies. So should I get XP to run these or when these games come out will they only be compatible with Windows 7?
Also I'm already running bootcamp so if I have to run emulation software to run these games through windows 7 I don't know if it will work? And if you guys do suggest windows 7 should I go with basic or premium? (do i need the xp emulation software or can I just save that $100). As I said i'm looking to play older games that were made for XP when it first came out, as well as games that have yet to come out and probably won't till sometime in 2010 (hopefully). Thanks for your help!
Pc Lags With Games?
Dec 12, 2011I'm having incredible frustration with my pc. It LAGS during most games, including the following,

So why on earth would these games lag??? IT's DRIVING ME INSANE! I can't play them without a lag and my system specs are above the "REQUIRED" system requirements to run the games.
1. There are no additional process's running in my process's that are chewing up my memory and slowing my pc down.
2. PhYsix is set to auto so it selects the best CPU for physix controlled games. And I've also tried both.
3. My games are run in the LOWEST possible game and graphic specs to try make it
less laggy, to no avail.
4. 3d is "disabled". So it can't be slow.
5. I do not have any virus's, and all my display drivers are correctly installed and up to date.
