Just downloaded the latest Java Version 7, no problems. However, when l tried to get rid of my older version, Java(tm) version 6 Update 32, it says that the installer is missing a dll (no name mentioned) and cannot continue.Did this via the add/remove programs in control panel, and also Revo Uninstaller, but the same message appears. Then tried downloading Java 6_32 again in case that was somehow corrupt, but it wouldn't install because of this un-named missing dll!I suppose l could just delete the directory concerned but surely that would leave remnants behind as opposed to a clean uninstall.
Compatibility mode allows you to run an older program written for an earlier versions of Windows to possibly run in Windows 7. This tutorial will show you how to use it.
I don't know where this error hs_err_pid came from.I closed down explorer and there were all this notepad messages on my desktop and I can't get rid of them. Researching, I know this is a Java thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. My windows update is fully updated.I've run 3 virus programs.I notice this was addressed for someone using XP but what of Windows 7? My add/remove program file only contines the program Java (TM) update 29. Nothing else is listed as far as Java is concerned.I've run cleaner programs and these did not take care of the problem. Every time I restart my machine these errors immediate pop up at start up.
In order to make an older program run, I have to copy a stack of dll/ocx files into System32, and then register them. Yes, it's crappy design, but it's a game editor for an older game, and I'm evidently the last tech-savvy admin. That, or a sucker.I copied them onto the desktop, and am trying to copy them from there into the system32 directory. I hit the UAC prompt, and select continue. Then it tells me I need to provide permission for it. I am a local admin (as well as a domain admin).
I have these files (renamed hi) that were from when I installed Windows 8. These files are program files, program files (x86), program data, and perf logs
i was wondering why after i uninstall a program for instance "Yahoo! Mwssenger", after the uninstall is complete if i run a "search" there are all kinds of files left behind. Then if i try and remove them manually some say "cannot read" or "you don't have permission".I guess what i want to know is, what is the best way to remove a program without leaving any files behind or am i just going to have to live with the left behind files on my pc?
On my desktop I have a few shortcuts that have the UAC Shield on them. I assume this means that you must have administrative privileges to run it (correct me if I'm wrong). If it's important for any reason, I am the administrator. How can I get rid of that pesky icon?
My installs of Windows 7 was working fine and all of a sudden it wont boot anymore. Yesterday I put in a required Java Program update install and I think Windows just added a couple of critical updates as well. I have tried booting in every way possible, rolling back, safe mode, etc, and nothing works.
I keep getting the screen telling me there is a problem and must do a system repair. Then the repairs and all it wants to do is shut down. I managed to pull up some error reports and it seems two files are corrupt which are TCPIP.SYS and one called FWPKCLNT.SYS.
TCPIP.SYS is located in C:/WIndows/System32/Drivers FWPKCLNT.SYS seems to be in drive F:/ which is not an actual drive. It must be a temporary boot drive created by Windows 7.
I have an older XP on another partition on the same hard drive so I booted in XP to see if I could possibly delete the reported corrupt TCPIP.SYS file and replace it from another Windows 7 install from my laptop just to see if that might work. But it wont let me delete the TCPIP.SYS file. It says it is in use, but I can't understand that since I am trying to delete it from the Windows 7 partition while I am booted up from the XP boot partition.
i have Microsoft security essentials and it detected that i have this virus trojan win32 alureon program .i tried to remove it with the program and reboot but it did not work.
When I try to run an RS private server, (which runs using java), It says this. I have attempted to make a path in my system variables, i named it "Java" and put it as C:Program Files (x86)Javajre6in and it still does not work.
Ok, I have looked everywhere and tried several "solutions" to get windows to recognize where Java.exe so it can run .jar files.I'm running windows 7 64-bit with java 1.6 32-bit installed. And when I try to install craftbukkit I only get errors.I have copied these errors so you can view them at...So I searched all over google and tried to go to my computer, advanced settings, path and add the path there but i still get the same errors.I've been all over the mine craft and bukkit forums but no one there can explain how to fix it
My tv has a DVI-D "hdtv" input, and my Dell latitude d620 has a vga output, so I bought a vga to DVI-D adapter, but either my computer or tv still won't pick up each other's signal, and thus I am still left unable to view my computer on my TV. The TV doesn't have a vga input, nor does it say "computer" anywhere, as the newer tvs do.

Can USB 3 Ports on a new pc be used with all the older USB gadgets that were plugged into the USB 2 Ports originally on an older pc? O.K. To use USB 2 cables if not worried about achieving the faster speed of USB 3.I realize the faster speed of the 3 won't be realized, but any other potential problems? Is 3 fully backward compatible with 2?

Which is better for an older computer? Vista or Windows 7? I've got a Pentium 4 3Ghz with 1.5GB of RAM and onboard graphics. Vista seems to be a little much for this old of a computer. Would Windows 7 handle the system better?
I want to do a fresh install of windows 7 on an SSD for a new pc i'm building. I've been using an asus laptop that came with an OEM windows 7 without any physical disks but with the product key on the bottom of the laptop. They had an option to remove this password which I clicked on. When I tried to log on tonight the log in was still there and on top of that my old password did not work.
