"no Files Have Been Found On This Remote Library"?
Feb 12, 2010
I am trying to setup media sharing (music and photo) from my server to my laptop and my ps3. Both the laptop and the ps3 can see the shared library, but when I e.g. want to see the music files I get this message "no files have been found on this remote library". I have setup a homegroup and both the laptop and the server is a member of this homegroup. I set the steaming to "allow, units to play media files automatically" - I have disabled windows firewall in the setup face - could it be that I need to open for some port in my router? SERVER is running windows 7 professional x86LAPTOP is running windows 7 professional x64

My notebook's music library had three locations: c:userspublicmusic c:usersmemusic \servermusic That last one is on a Windows Home Server. I decided to remove the server's music folder from the notebook's music library because I only wanted the files that are on the notebook to be displayed in the music library. The problem is that Zune, Media Center and Windows Media Player 12 all still show files from the server's music folder. I verified that the server's music folder is no longer listed as a location in the notebook's music library. I've also rebooted the notebook.

How do I stop a Windows 7 library from displaying files that I have deleted from my computer?More precisely, how do stop them from showing up on my flat-screen TV which is connected to my home network with DLNA (which is just a fancy abbreviation for a TV that can read audio and video files from your computer) This is driving me completely bonkers. I've spent hours trying so many solutions from forums, I can't even keep track. I even used a registry hack the disables libraries entirely and the files *still* show up.It gets worse...Files that are completely *deleted* from my computer show up in the folder as viewed on the TV, though they don't play.Files that have been *renamed and moved to non-shared, non-library folders* will still play on the TV!I also did a total reset on the TV back to factory defaults, in case it had some sort of cache. Didn't work.

I can't transfer any files to this empty folder - Library/Documents. I created a new folder called 'Docs' in Library' to see if that would work and the system won't allow me to place any files there either. It seems like I'm not allowed access, but I'm the owner.

I've just setup an HTPC (Windows 7 Professional 32bit) and am using WMC on Windows 7. I've run into a problem that lots and lots of people have had (can see lots of posts on the web) but not fixes seem to work and I've trolled for two days now finding no fixes for the problem.Perhaps someone can assist?Problem: When I add a shared folder from my SAN (which I can access from Windows Explorer), WMC says scanning for files but never finds any. I have a collection of AVI files on the SAN and am wanting to list them in the Movie library on WMC (not the Video Library).I've heard it's a file association problem but that does not seem to fix the problem. I've changed the association of AVIs from WMP to WMC.Any idea what the real fix is?Question: What's the best practice to put a collection of AVIs on the WMC. If you have 10 movies, what's best?1. Create a folder called Movies and under that folder, 10 additional folders for Movie1, Movie2, etc and under those folders the actual AVI files, or,

Windows 7 professional, Windows Media Player 12. When an album of mp3 tracks, maybe downloaded from amazon, or ripped from a Cd, is saved to the 'My music' folder, WMP12 automatically includes it in the library and it shows in the library pane with cover art and everything looks and plays correctly. Trouble is, the next time I run WMP after it's been closed for shutdown or whatever, the album is gone from the library, or at least it doesn't show anywhere. It won't reappear if I force a library update even though the folder is scanned. 'My music' is the only folder I have designated for WMP to check into the library, and that's where all the mp3s are, including the ones it won't show. The only albums it shows are those I imported when Windows 7 was run for the first time on my machine. Since then it does the 'now you see it now you don't trick' every time I rip or download a track.

I just installed Windows 7. How do I shut off the feature that asks me to take ownership of every individual folder in my music files from my external drive before I can open them and add them to my media player library? I just want to add them the way I used to in XP or better yet just drag and drop the main folder into media player.

Running Remote Desktop from Windows 7 Ultimate x64 to Windows Server 2003 Std. Can't copy a file from Windows 7 and paste to WS03 or vice-versa.
No problem with copy/paste text from an app on Windows 7 to an app on WS03. Three other machines in the office running Windows 7 Pro x64 to the same WS03 machine have no copy/paste problems.
Tried Safe Mode--no luck. Tried terminating rdpclip.exe on WS03 and restarting--no luck.

I am trying to make all my file browsing really organized so that if I ever need to retrieve a file, the process will be as streamlined as possible. However Windows Libraries are making this difficult. When I downloaded the drivers for my computer it adds several files and folders to the "Documents" folder. These will automatically regenerate if I were to delete or move them. This adds clutter to the Folder that I do not want
Shown here:
If I were to remove the folder from the Library and Replace it with a different folder that has all my "real" documents, than the layout changes and now lists data that I don't care about, (Folder Name, Folder Location, Number of Files in Folder, and the path to the empty Public Folder)
Shown here:
Is there any solution? is there a way to get rid of the unnecessary files in the "Documents" library? or can I at least replace the folder with another folder that has all my relevant documents?

i get a windows error randomly when i search my folders. To my knowledge the errors started happening about a week ago when my comp shut off by accident. The folder crashes then it says windows is searching for a solution, then it restarts and no solution is ever found. I find this error in win explorer. Also a program i run guitar pro 6 is completely crashes, even tried reinstalling to no avail thats how i know its a windows error. I have no restore points for whatever reason so that cant work, dont wanna reload or upgrade, i tried sfc/scannow and it says it was unable to fix it and couldnt proceed. help please this is very annoying i need my program back. I need to replace the damaged files.

I know there have been a number of posts on this subject but I have been unable to find a solution. I have 2 Windows 7 machines, both running SP1.
My HP Pavilion is running 64-bit and my Dell Latiude E6400 is running 32-bit. I can successfully RDP from my Dell and even my Apple iPad (via an RDP client) into my HP Pavilion. However, the problem is that when I try to RDP from my Pavilion into my Dell I get connected but all I see is a BLACK from the Dell machine. The only thing i can see is the Status bar at teh top telling me that i am connected. A few moments later I get a popup message telling me that the machines have failed to communicate.
I have confirmed that RDP settings are identical on the Pavilion and Dell. I have even downgraded the Dell NVIDIA graphics driver to an older version based on the recommended version on the Dell support web site.

As soon as I do that I get a black screen with 2 white bars in the upper left hand corner(looks like a pause button). The user who's pc I am connected to sees the log inbox for the admin creds, how ever I can not get to it. How can I make that screen stop popping up?

We recently installed Yahoo messenger and suddenly the Library folder isn't showing any folders/files under the Administrator account. When I go to create a new Library it reads the following error message: "Unable to create the new file 'New Library.library-ms' File System Error: (16389)." Not only is the library no longer accessible, but I cannot access any of the Music, Pictures or Documents from the Start Menu.I am only able to access the folders using the search bar by selecting "User Name" from the drop down box, then suddenly everything's there. It will not allow me to drag/drop anything into the Library folder or even create a new one.

We have several remote systems that can all connect fine. I am having an issue with one box. It is a windows 7 home premium machine with netgear wireless nic. When I open mstsc to connect to a remote machine I put in the ip address and click on connect.I receive an immediate failure with the text "This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again...blah blah"I have a server 2008 r2 with Network level authentication enabled. I have 8 other systems that are hardwired, at different geographic locations and all connect fine. I have not made any changes on the server side since this problem seems to be local to this client only. On the client I have made the following changes/observations. I have disabled the firewall, cleared the remote desktop cache, remove the MRU entries from the registry, verified that port 3389 is open via telnet. I have been bashing my head for days trying to figure out why this one box is not working. The problem occurs for every user on the box including the admin.I don't receive the box that prompts for warning if there is a server authentication issue but I think that is because I selected ignore at some point and said yes to continue. I'm not sure where that cache resides to delete that selection.

I had some trouble with one of my harddisks, after I connected it via a USB hub. When I disconnected it and put it back in later on, checkdisk told me I had a corrupted file and proposed a scan. After scanning, it told me that it had created a found file somewhere. I didnt find it, but since nothing was missing, I didnt think about it any further. A couple of days later, the same thing happened again, but this time most of my files were gone. I searched everywhere for the "found"files, but there are nowhere to be seen.

I'm running Win 7/64 Home Premium with an nVidia GT-430 (301.42) connected via HDMI to a Denon 2310CI.I don't normally use Media Center to play DVDs, so I have no idea when this issue started, but when I try to play one, the video will play for a few seconds, but there is no audio output. Then I get the dreaded "Files that are necessary for playback are not found ..." error, which, of course, tells me next to nothing. I encountered this same problem with Vista (which is one of the reasons why I upgraded to Win 7/64).Thinking it might be a conflict with 3rd party codecs (since uninstalling ffdshow in Vista cured that for a while ... I think, I can't really remember now ...), I uninstalled ffdshow, LAV filters, Haali spliter and rebooted. Didn't help. Meanwhile, DVDs play fine in WMP12. Also DVR-MS and TS files will bitstream AC3/DTS fine when played in Media Center.
