My mother just told me about a problem she's been having accessing her documents folder. I looked into it and could not access anything from the documents library. This is the error I get when I try to open the library: But I found the documents folder in the Pictures library: It won't let me put the documents folders back in the library. How can I do this?
View 2 RepliesI just loaded Win 7 pro and in my pictures library I have a folder path that goes to no where. It was a folder in my external drive that no longer exists . The problem is when I tried to do a back up it failed and said it was because the folder path was missing. I tried to delete the folder but it will not let me.

If I open Kodak Easyshare these picts show for a split second so I know they are somewhere. What can I do to restore them to the original location?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn various pictures, I've seen it read the XMP "Title" tag, the EXIF "Description" or "User Comment" tag, the IPTC "Caption" tag, even Keywords or Sub-categories.
So my question is, what's the limit to it all? I would think that "Title" would only display a metadata tag with a similar name, like XMP DublinCore Title, or, if it could only find its IPTC counterpart in a file, Fixture Identifier. I suppose that when you don't give yourselves all that much space to work with, as is the case with the bottom panel of a Windows 7 Explorer window, doubling- and tripling-up like this can be considered practical. Maybe I haven't looked far & wide enough. All the same, I think that a tooltip or some easily-gotten-at description of the fields in that bottom 3/5 of the window would be more than enough to satisfy one's curiosity.
I won't add mischief to misery and ask "Why was this done?" as I've already partly come up with a reasonable answer myself (available space within the bounds of the window). I'll just ask if anyone else has been curious about this, and if so, invite them to comment here on this thread.
I reloaded Windows 7 from scratch. I have two drives. The system Drive is a 128G SSD. The second drive is a WD 1T hard drive I used for storage.
Used space: 44,277,760 42.2MB
Free space: 60,575,744 57.7MB
When I try to open the drive and access my files, Pic, Doc, etc. It says this folder is empty. How do I regain access to my files?
When I open the start menu the only libraries showing under libraries are music, pictures & video. I can access the document library by clicking the main library title. I have tried restoring default libraries but still documents is missing.

I recently have moved some of my users documents to a newer server from our old server.This caused no real issues and was quite easy to manage. After the move on one particular system, I updated the document library to make sure it was pointing to the new location on the new server, made the files available offline, and let it synchronize.After the synchronization was complete, there were no issues.However, when they try to attach a file to either an email or to a web form through Internet Explorer, the document library from the 'Attach a file' window is still pointing to the old location. When I try to point that library to the new location, it says the folder isn't indexed, although I can have the library open in a windows explorer window and show that it is indexed and in the library.Is there any way I can have the library updated in both Windows and Internet Explorer?
The system is currently running Windows 7 Professional 32Bit.It was running Internet Explorer 8 when the error first appeared, but I updated to Internet Explorer 9 and it is still not working correctly.This is the only system where it is acting like this, I have checked other identical systems that have had this file switch done as well.
I keep my photos in the Windows 7 Pictures Library on my laptop. The library is copied to a portable hard drive.
I recently collected some new photos on the portable drive and later dragged them to the corresponding folder on the computer. All OK until the computer was rebooted, when the new photos apparently vanished from the folder. A search showed that they were still there, and they became visible when the folder was dragged to the desktop. But they vanished again when it was replaced in the library.
I deleted the whole folder from the library and replaced it with the copy on the portable drive. All was well, including the new photos. But further photos imported from the portable drive still vanish as described.
This only seems to happen with the hard drive: individual photos imported from an SD card or copied to the library from other applications are OK.
Maybe I'll just have to collect new photos in a different way, or import the whole folder each time, but I'd be grateful for advice.
I had the Pictures library no longer working error happen yesterday, it's still the same today.
Is there an 'easy-to-follow' cure for this, as I'm puzzled as to where my imported pictures will go when I next transfer pics from my digital camera?
I have noticed that my computer is taking images from the internet and saving them in my 'Pictures Library'. I have also noticed that most of the images saved are from websites I have visited. There are hundreds and hundreds of these images stored in my Picture Library folders. I need to know how to remove them and how to stop the programme that's creating them in the first place.

Then when I have time, I have tried to go in and set up folders, by year 2011, Month, or activity such as folder named 'Holiday's that would be in the 2011 folder... when I move the pis to a newly created folder to organize them all, it freaks out and gives me some error message! I had hoped that this machine would be good enough. Added a wireless n USB adapter other than that it is stock with only 2 gb of ram. I have the tv Hooked up via hdmi with 720p resolution.When I look at network drives through windows explorer, it seems to react fairly quickly. When I try to access movies list from media center, it takes forever (>10 mins) and doesn't bing all of them up. same with recorded tv or music or pictures.Is my problem that emachines pc needs more ram or do you think it could be wireless network connection or a setting. I have another laptop that streams great from my main htpc so I don't think it is network,especially since win explorer seems to work fairly quickly. (I don't have to open it, I only have to select it).I get an error message from Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library saying, 'This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information'. The application (which I assume is Windows Explorer), has to restart. I have no problems selecting any other folders.The problem folder is on my external hard drive, which hasn't been connected for a couple of weeks. But I then found that the error occurred on that folder's copy on the internal drive. (The two drives are not synced - I had simply made a back-up copy about a month ago).

Their is a weird folder named "WINDOWSTEMPDIR_FONTCONFIG_CACHE" in my Pictures Library. After searching I haven't been able to determine what this folder is for or why it was created. Is it OK to delete it or should I move it, leave it alone or what?
I am trying to share my MUSIC folder on my Windows Home Server (WHS) to my Music Library.
Pretty simply structure, so thought this should not be a problem. If I add the entire folder to the Library only 1/3 of my songs are listed. In trying to understand what is happening I found that only 2 of the 5 sub-folders under MUSIC are included (Songs1 and Songs5).
Starting over, I removed the "MUSIC" folder from the Library and then proceeded to add each sub-folder indivually. What I found is I could add 2 sub-folders (Songs1 and Songs5), but adding the other 3 sub-folders returned an error message, "this network location can't be included because it is not indexed". If I add any new folder under MUSIC I can't add it to the Library either.
I'm thinking this has to be some type of security or user issue but can't think of what it would be since some of the sub-folders under MUSIC can be recognized, while others, including new folders, can not be added. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have my "pictures" folder on a separate disk drive and have set Libraries to include it. However, I still have Microsoft's My Pictures folder and can't get rid of it. As a result, many applications get confused and save files to the wrong folder or I loose files myself.How can I modify the default Library to point ONLY to my chosen folder and not the defaults please? Or alternatively, get rid of the MS default library system completely as I HATE being forced to be organised like this by MS when no alternative is offered that works!

Both the laptop and the ps3 can see the shared library, but when I e.g. want to see the music files I get this message "no files have been found on this remote library". I have setup a homegroup and both the laptop and the server is a member of this homegroup. I set the steaming to "allow, units to play media files automatically" - I have disabled windows firewall in the setup face - could it be that I need to open for some port in my router?
