When I click in the window, it looses focus.
When the OS starts the mouse click work fine. After some time I start seeing this problem.
This is happening on a desktop (not a laptop). I have Kingston Trackball drivers installed by OS.
The only workaround I have found is starting task manager. I had this problem in Vista also. Was hoping Win 7 would have fixed it.
any time a program, ANY program (doesn't matter if it is an installer or what) is not programmed to open or run in the background, if something happens in it, the focus gets stolen from where I am (say Firefox or a Microsoft Word Document), even if the application doesn't actually pop up, then I have to re-click on the program to regain focus and continue working.The real problem is when things pop up unexpectedly as I am typing and I hit the space bar, which results in my accepting something I may not have wanted to.Is there any way at all to FORCE a global "stay in the background" for any program that doesn't have focus or to prevent programs from stealing the focus?I tried the mouse hover trick, but that's an annoyance because if I accidentally bump it off of my active window, whatever one it comes on top of becomes active and is only worth it if I'm working in a full screen window (which is maybe 30% of the time).I am running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS L511z, with Windows 7 as my main OS. The problem is, literally every 60 seconds the current window loses focus. It makes typing anything hell, since the cursor sometimes jumps to a different position on the page, but mostly just loses focus altogether. I have a feeling the problem is to do with the Optimus setup.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a new computer and it has Windows 7. Windows 7 is driving me nuts because the top-most window will not automatically get focus. For example, say I have Windows-Explorer and Notepad open. I have Notepad focused and am working in it. I then close Notepad, which leaves Windows-Explorer as the only open window on the desktop. Yet the Windows-Explorer window will not automaticlaly get focus. Instead it is "greyed" out and the only way I can focus it is to click on the window.
Also, when I assign a keyboard shortcut (e.g., to open Internet Explorer if I assign Ctrl+Alt+I), it will never open with focus. It will open the app but it will be "greyed out" and it will not get focus until I click on it.
This never happened on Windows XP. On XP the top-most window would always get focus if there was no window "above it" or if the window "above it" was closed.
Is there any way to get Windows 7 to behave like Windows XP with windows getting focus?
Since past 2-3 weeks I have noticed an issue that bugs me too much. The focus on a window keeps getting lost automatically.
Lets say I am reading a page or writing in a textbox (like this one), the current focus would automatically get lost and again need to click somewhere in the program. I may be scrolling down using scroll bar of mouse or arrow keys of keyboard or my cursor is being pointed somewhere in a textbox. Because of this issue, I again have to click manually a program.
I tried googling but could not find a suitable solution or root cause of the issue. Maybe there is a program that gets activated automatically and focus shifts to that hidden program - however i could not find one.
I am using Windows 7 and IE8 in my application. I am opening a new pop window using window.open(). After submit, my request will reload the same opup. While reloading the page is hiding behind the parent window. I have tried using window.focus() to bring the popup front, its not working. This problem occurs only if i use Win 7 and IE8

In Windows 7, this does not happen - the focus remains in the left panel (i.e. Favourites, Libraries, Homegroup etc).

if i had 2 apps open, i could single click app 1's respective Taskbar icon to restore (minimize)/lose (set) focus. the aforementioned method would also minimize or maximize the app 1's window as the focus changed. further, if i launched app 2, app 2 would load in the foreground, immediately receive focus and i could use it right away. seems after a recent Windows Update, i lost the ability to use all the above methods. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have no viruses, all software, flash, drivers, and BIOS are current. I have no gagets running, have all animation and effects turned off. The simplest example is trying to click on the taskbar icon for sound to mute or change the volume. When I try to move the cursor to the pop-up, it disappears. Same thing happens with maxmized windows, I cannot use the taskbar icon to close them. The pop up disappears when I move off the task bar. When composing email in Windows Live Mail , I cannot keep the cursor in the Subject line to type a title. (To get the subject line for this email,I had to type it in the body and cut/paste.) The mouse focus shifts to the body of the email. I have tried USB mice, cordless mice, trackpad, all do the same.

The song changes, and I dont like it, I can free my mouse, and move it to the other monitor, but if I click anything, Windows sees that as me wanting to focus the desktop, so it minimizes the game.

For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. tried system restore, tried Cmd prompt thing... what may have happened is that I recently was uninstalling things... umm made sure this was a software thing ... defaulted my laptop's touchpad used other mouses and still same result.

You normally left click to access something on the internet but all of the sudden my computer won't do that. I have to right click then go up to click on OPEN and then it works. Using windows 7 pro and this just started over the weekend. How do I get it back to left click to open?
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsually when using an internet browser (firefox or internet explorer) and windows explorer windows, I try to click to switch tabs and it doesn't respond. It shows (Not Responding) for a split second and won't switch tabs. I end up having to click a whole bunch of times before it switches.
This same kind of thing happens with explorer windows when trying to restore them from the minimized state. It just won't respond and multiple clicks are needed before seeing any action. This has been happening for awhile now but I figure it just may be another bug

View 4 Replies View Relatedi've been having a problem with my mouse, it clicks just once in a while, and, sometimes, it gets better with one window (program) but when I change to another program or desktop, it stops clicking again. It begun out of nowhere about 3 days ago. I run my pc on windows 7, I tried changing the usb port, the mouse and it doesn't work. What does help is doing a ctrl+alt+del, starting task manager and returning to windows, then, I can click on a single program and it begins to work (the mouse clicks) with it. Typing alt+tab also helps sometimes.
My xbox controller and keyboard are functioning normally. I recently updated my kaspersky to the latest version, but I tried deactivating it but I had no luck with the mouse. I'm thinking about returning to a previous kaspersky version, first, then, if that doesn't help, reinstalling the windows.
Ah, another thing that might help: i have windows vista on the same PC, same HD and, when I logged in it to see if the problem persisted, gess what, yes, the same mouse problem. That made me think of a hardware problem, but on all usb ports is odd. Can anyone help?

A while after the computer is on, i want to click anymore neither with my touch pad nor with my external usb mouse....
The cursor moves normally but left click and right click won't work. if i do CTRL ALT DEL and cancel it works again for a while and then starts again.
The weird part, is it's not alway for the whole screen, sometimes i cannot click windows, sometimes i cannot click the tasl bar, sometimes both...
I really can't seem to find an answer to this problem, i've been thinking it might be a problem of screen refresh as the CTRL ALT DEL solves it for a few minutes, but I'm not sure... Can someone here help me please?

As i was typing in MS Word in the middle of a sentence when i clicked the space bar the pc acted as if i right clicked on my mouse. I ran CCleaner it did not help. I uninstalled the usb drivers for the keyboard and mouse using USBDeview that didnt help either. I uninstalled naturally dragon 11 because it was the last install i did before i noticed

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy netbook, running windows 7 starter, no longer allows me to right click. Not in programs, not in folders, not on the desktop. I was using a USB mouse (which I tested on another mechine, the right click works fine there, so its not the mouse). After this problem started I tried a second usb mouse and the right-click on the built-in touch pad mouse. None of them worked. I have tried rebooting, I tried updating the drivers on my USB mouse. I havn't tried a system restor, hoping someone might know a fix that avoids that route.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI uninstalled the Interactual and Sonic Cineplayer software because that interfered with Windows Media Player and Power DVD v7.
I set my autoplay option for the DVD drive to "Always ask" for a DVD movie.
When I insert a DVD movie I get the autoplay option for WMP or PowerDVD.
Now everything works except for one quirk.
If I insert a DVD MOVIE, cancel the autoplay option and then simply mouse click on the DVD drive I get:
"Windows cannot access the specified device. path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Any other type of DVD/CD works fine. IT IS JUST DVD MOVIES.
I think Interactual, which want to own the DVD drive, left some registry entry whereby it tries to re-install itsellf (I REALLY hate that software).
1) Any ideas as to what the POC Interactual software left behind an how to clean it?
2) Also, why, oh why, can't the Windows error message INCLUDE the "device, path, or file" NAME in the error message? (Pet Peeve #1) Are you listening Redmond?
I seem to remember that there was a setting that I could change to prevent a drop-down from appearing whenever I clicked on an icon. Now I am presented with a drop-down that has "OPEN' as it's top item.
