I can boot up my Win7 PC, and I can click on any single app; when that window opens on the screen - that's it. The window is viewable, but nothing is click-able.Nothing else works on the computer at that point - no start button, nothing.
View 2 RepliesI am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.

For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. It is driving me nuts! I have been told more than once that a window will open the same way that it was closed - not true! Reduced window does not happen when using Mozilla. Must be simple option for me to make a change - but how? Where?

When the OS starts the mouse click work fine. After some time I start seeing this problem.
This is happening on a desktop (not a laptop). I have Kingston Trackball drivers installed by OS.
The only workaround I have found is starting task manager. I had this problem in Vista also. Was hoping Win 7 would have fixed it.
Tried lots of things, using regedit, going into the folders features my "Folder Options" ARE set to "Open each folder in same window"

tried system restore, tried Cmd prompt thing... what may have happened is that I recently was uninstalling things... umm made sure this was a software thing ... defaulted my laptop's touchpad used other mouses and still same result.
I am trying to connect to a wireless router in the house I share with roommates. It is not my router, just what they give me access to with my rent. They are using a WEP key with this router. Just for clarity I will even post the WEP key (since no one on here will know what router this is for). The 5 byte WEP key in hexadecimal is 18 01 44 62 AE. the first 2 characters have no viewable ASCII character equivalent and Windows 7 doesn't appear to allow me to enter in the Hex values when entering a WEP key. So, can Windows 7 not handle this or can the WEP key for a network be entered in Hex format somewhere and I just don't know where yet?

View 4 Replies View RelatedPretty much all my music files (even ones in separate folders) with images associated with it (like files to show album covers which are hidden), folders inside that weren't viewable before, volume information, temporary files, etc. Which are normally hidden have suddenly become viewable and are also regarded as system files (they are all slightly greyed out along with the hidden box in properties).

I've downloaded the most recent driver & searched for a solution online but haven't found anyone who has fixed this issue. There was a nasty virus on it that I managed to get rid of, but now programs won't run unless I first right click and click "Run as Administrator". Shortcuts also won't work (I assume for the same reason.) Does anyone know of a fix for this so we don't have to constantly click "Run as Administrator"? By the way, there is only one user on the computer and it is an administrator.

Yesterday I downloaded 2 MKV files and I can't click/right-click on them as it shows error message "Windows explorer has stopped working", then I've been given 2 options : Check for solution or Restart the program. And it lags so much when the message showed up. However, I still able to play those 2 files if I double-click on it fastly (before the error message showing up) and the video is okay too. Since my other mkv files I had (and other various file formats like AVI, MP4 etc..) are working just fine, I thought there's something wrong with the latest mkv files I've downloaded. Then I tried to convert it to become avi, but my converter won't read the file because it's in chinese. I'm unable to rename it too OTL, Then it must be something wrong with my windows explorer.

I get no response from keyboard input. I get no bluescreen or anything.What happens next is that after I reboot my computer after the crash it can't boot into Windows since it cant find any of my hard drives so it tries to boot from a CD instead. 2. active windows have the menu options underlined so that when i attempt to use the shift or control keys, a menu action is the result, rather then then the normal typing function that i am attempting to exicute.

4. windows media player will not show the video window, only the playlists. it does play the file, but i cannot see the video. now, i could see the video if i left the window small and the window is not the active window now all these happen after i reboot or turn the computer off and on again. the problems seem to resolve themselves after about 10 days. but that is awful and i hate it. i have maxpc cleaner and stopzilla protection. i had not downloaded any software, i did use the restore point right after the first instance (which was three months ago). now i did spill beer on my key board and was forced to get a wireless one. Logitech k250. if that is the cause, is there a solution without buying a new keyboard.
so, when I right click on desktop or any where else where I can create a new folder and stuff, I can't see NotePad in there.
