Okay, so a long time ago i tried to use my laptop to connect to xbox live using my wireless internet. It said in the guide that after bridging and all that, i wont be able to use the port for connecting to the internet with an ethernet cable. Well, i was stupid and decided to do it, and can't find a fix for it anywhere. The Local Area Connection is completely missing and when i connect an ethernet cable to the port, nothing happens. I wont go into details, but now i need to use an ethernet cable instead of wireless to connect to my internet, and my port doesnt work and I cant find the Local Area Connection. here's an image so I dont get spammed with people asking me to give them full system scan info.

I am running Windows 7 ultimate 32bit service pack 1 on an HP Pav. I use the latest Chrome Browser.
I run that normally (no virtual machine) Recently Copy/Paste function from the right-click context menu suddenly stopped working in ANY program, browser, circumstance.
I cannot even get the keyboard shortcuts to work for copy/paste (Control/C Control/V). Tried a few things; updated Java, ran windows update, etc.
Then I checked to see if the clipbook was started in Local services. To my utter surprize its GONE!
No clipbook would explain my problem without a doubt. What can I do about it? Can I download the file somewhere or will it take a restore or repair?

I screwed up today. While meaning to delete files from AppDataLocalTemp, I accidentally deleted (many) from AppData. [Sidebar: Is there any way to configure the file explorer such that deleting from the folder view is disabled?] After a brief panic, I downloaded (from another machine) the utility Recuva64 and restored the missing files to a separate drive, after which I copied them back to where they belong.
But, there was a problem - I could not copy files from the recovered folder Credentials to LocalAppDataCredentials. Even stranger, I did not have permission to view the security credentials of LocalAppDataCredentials. I tried booting to safe mode to fix this, but both folders were gone - the recovered one as well as LocalAppDataCredentials.
So, my system is up and running, but the folder LocalAppDataCredentials is missing. I tried using Recuva64 again, but it did not find the folder. I also looked in an older backup of my profile, but again, I did not see the folder. The folder does, whoever, exist on my notebook (but whose to say if the information is consistent).

So about right now I feel like throwing this rig off a bridge.
I am simply trying to find my missing icon for the local area connection that goes to my Mb Ethernet . I need to change the ip. It was around before but has gone missing.
I was trying to link up a network computer before and it all went down hill.

I transferred photos, through Bluetooth, from my Blackberry to my laptop that is running Windows 7. They appeared in a Temp file (under Local) but have since disappeared. Is there a way to retrieve them? Does this mean I have something on my computer that automatically deletes these files?

I'm having an issue installing Windows 7 (7100) 64 bit. (I have also tried 32 bit and 32 bit v7000)
#Note, I burned the disk to a TDK-R 4.7gig Dvd using imgBurn at x2 write speed and verify. I also use the disk to install a guest os in vm workstation. So I know the disk is fine.
The install fails shortly after clicking "Install Now"
At first I get a cd/dvd driver device error or w/e. I load the drivers for my dvd drive. All goes well.
Then I get to the area I would normally select the install drive/reformat section. Instead of seeing C: & D: as usual the list is completely blank.
This is where I'm stuck and I have no clue how to fix it.

I have upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, since then I have not had the CD drives showing in windows explorer in the drop down section on the left. If I put a disc in it then shows up. I am used to XP and all my drives showing.I looked at the properties for the drives and there is the message showing, Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) instead of "this device is working properly".

Under XP mode under Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, neither My Computer nor
in a Command Box shows my actual C drive.
I can see in My Computer under Other the "C on HOSTNAME" and that is
my "real" C drive, and I can see all folders there.
How do I access the "real" C drive from a Command Box?
Where is that "Local C" drive located?
If I save a file into that XP "Local" C drive, where the heck will that be stored?

I purchased a vizio all in one desktop model CA24-A2 , with windows 7 installed. I upgraded it to windows 8, but decided to return back to windows 7 because the Metro UI always crashes on me. I purchased a windows 7 disc and booted the computer off the disc. When the installation asks which drive to install it to, nothing appears. For some reason, the installation disc is not reading the drives. I've checked vizio's page, but didn't find any drivers for the hard drive that would work. I check the Bios menu and both drives appear. I've read on other forum about changing the bios mode (AHCI,IDE), but my bios menu is very restricted, and i dont have that option available. I used MiniTool Partition wizard on a bootable cd, and it was able to see my hard drives as well. I added some pictures below. When i try to boot windows with windows 8, "bootmgr is missing" error appears. After restarting my computer several times it seems i only have access to the bios menu f2, and not f8 for recovery.

ack when I first set up my system I used a tutorial on this forum that showed how to install the OS on one drive and everything else on the other. The setup required changing the registry settings in audit mode during the initial OS install. I am looking for this tutorial but now can't find it. I even posted in this post, but even those are missing so I can't just trace my posts. I'm confused as to why it is missing and am hoping anybody could lead me back to it.

I have a brand new Sony SVT13112FXS - hard drive is a hybrid of 500 GB HDD and 32 GB SDD.I was attempting to reformat it to get all of the anti-virus stuff off, except when I tried to reformat no disks were shown in the reformat tool. It asked for drivers, so I assumed I'd need to install the SATA/chipset drivers. I downloaded them from the Sony website but it wouldn't allow me to install them (from a flash drive). Specifically the error is "No drives were found. Click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."In my troubleshooting I (stupidly) marked the wrong partition as active and got the dreaded "bootmgr is missing" upon restart. I attempted to repair using the windows 7 disk as a recovery tool and selected "startup repair" 3 times, but it still does not work.I am able to get into command prompt and I am assuming I can inactivate the (wrong) active partition there. However, when I go into DISKPART and type "list disk", all that shows up is my flash drive that I am attempting to install windows from - the computers hard drive does NOT show up here.I will also happily completely reformat instead of repairing, but I cannot do that since I can't get the disks to show up in the reformat tool.

Why are SAN drives recognized as local drive while NAS drives aren't?I knew that SAN uses block level transfer to transfer data while NAS uses file level transfer. Does this has anything to do with why SAN drives and NAS drives are recognized differently by the computer?

I have a big problem, I was using NetDrive to map my FTP Server to my computer for some time now. I was using Windows Vista 32-Bit, I just installed Windows 7 64-Bit. Now to a surprise I found out that NetDrive doesn't support 64-Bit Operating Systems as of this time. I have been searching no-stop for about 2 hours and haven't found much.
I found some posts that recommended another FREE program to use that is like NetDrive but they still doesn't support 64-Bit. I don't want to buy a $50.00 program like WebDrive for example. I have also tried to use windows explorer to connect to the FTP Server and doesn't seem to work well (mostly not at all). I don't know why?
So at this point I am asking everyone if someone knows of a FREE program or method that I can use to connect my FTP Server to a local drive on my computer?

I started playing Xbox 360 again today, and i tried to go online, which apparently didn't work out anymore...So i tried to fix things by checking my "Local Area Connection" on the pc, and it just disappeared?I used to have it there before, now it's gone. Probably because of reinstalling Windows 7 about a month ago? I've looked up many threads, but nothing really applies to my exact situation, or i just end up not understanding them.

I am on Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.i7 processor with 12 gb ram 10k rpm Sata 3 boot drive Graphic Designer using Photoshop and Illustrator, and a variety of other programs.I have used Memeo Backup Pro in the past for backing up my files INSTANTLY upon saving the file.... I liked that it did that. Not into waiting till the end of the day for a scheduled backup to run; I've lost too many files in the past due to corruption after working on them for an hour or less....I would lose a LOT of productivity if I got hosed after working on a complex Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop file if it crashed after working on it for even a half hour.I save often, and Memeo saves a backup to my predetermined destination drive instantly. HOWEVER.... Memeo is buggy as heck and it has screwed with programs and caused Windows 7 functionality problems....So... I am wanting to try another, similar backup program that might have better user reviews. Can you help? I tried a demo of Live Backups and it sucked... couldn't even get it to work after setting up the parameters ....

I'm trying to set up two way sync between some files on my laptop and a network drive so that changes made to either the copy on the network or on my laptop get propagated to each other. I've read the instructions for setting up an "offline file" sync, which is a one way sync. The instructions usually mention that it's possible to set up a two-way sync, but they never actually describe how to do it.

how the local drive mapping in Remote Desktop works. I use it because it's very convenient, but I'm concerned about the privacy of it, i.e. that other people might see this drive as well.
I need to be absolutely sure before I'm going to continue using a mapped drive.
