View 2 RepliesI've had the freezing problem for months and so far no solution. My laptop runs fine when I play games, or browse, as long as i don't watch videos or listen to music, it doesn't mind if online or from my drive. Tried different software but no luck. I would think it's hardware, but i don't have this problem on linux.I ran windows 8 for a few days, didn't see the freezing there, but I don't like the OS.I think the problem is with the audio drivers or something, I tried old and new ones, but no result.I am running Windows 7 ultimate 32bit (64 doesn't help either). My laptop is Acer Extensa 5635zg. I attach the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 report+ the everest report inside the zip, where you can find the hardware information about my laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I am playing music on my computer. Whether it be Spotify or Pandora.. and I go to a certain type of website, it triggers the blue screen of death. It seemed random, but I have a certain site I can get to trigger the bsod ever time if musics on... not if it is off
I am using Firefox 11.0 I am able to trigger the BSOD on navigating through the sitewww.nbc.com/the-voice
I have attached all of the necessary BSOD items. Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? X64 - the original installed OS on the system? Yes. Original - an OEM or full retail version? OEM - OEM = came pre-installed on system - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer - What is the age of system (hardware)? 1 month - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) Same. Have not re-installed OS.
I just finished building my new pc and got it up and running today, but it has bluescreened six or seven times since I've been using it. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on it last night and the BSOD will pop up after 10 minutes of browsing or doing light work or even after playing a couple hours of Skyrim. Very random. I looked over some of the dump files to see a pattern but I think there are multiple things causing the BSOD. All of the hardware is new and this is my first time building a pc, though I am fairly certain that all of the hardware components are put together correctly, so I'm not sure if I need to upgrade a certain driver or what. My specs are listed under the profile and the dump files and health report are attached.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has suddenly slowed down considerably. I've run eset online scanner and scanned with my antivirus Trend Micro Titanium and found nothing at all. I've tried running Ccleaner and using the registry cleaner. I've also tried defragmenting my hdd but nothing is working. Overall its is generally slow but alot of the time Windows explorer freezes and stops responding and needs restarting.I have an asus K55VD notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, quad core i7 processor, 8gb ram, 2gb dedicated graphics and over 200gb of free space on my hdd. If it makes any difference I have windows 8 installed on a separate partition although problems didn't start when I installed it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PC with Windows 7 64 bit as the primary and only OS. Lately a strange audio problem has come up. The sound goes off suddenly while gaming. The only solution then is to restart the PC for the audio to return. Am having a discrete audio card (Asus Xonar Essence STX). I have tried all the driver tricks (updating, uninstall-ing & reinstall-ing) to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried using the Sound Recorder tonight for the first time and I fell on my face doing that too.I recorded about 20 seconds of music as a test and saved it to'My Music' folder. That part was successful. However, when I went to the folder to play it I noticed it had a 'gold lock' icon on the title. I tried playing it but nothing but silence.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think that Windows might be disabling my sound device during gaming because it thinks it is idle. I don't know if this is the exact reason but after much testing have come to this conclusion.
Anyway, the problem is that while playing some games (for example Borderlands, Civ 5) the sound will be fine but after a while playing the sound will cut off completely. It seems to occur when I am playing a game for more than an hour although I can't be very specific. If I exit the game and try to play an MP3 etc in WMP then the program just behaves like it's trying to do something in the background and won't actually play the file. There are no system sounds or any other sound at all.
This doesn't happen in all games, for example, when I play Audiosurf then the sound plays as normal no matter how long I play. This is why I think it may be a Windows issue thinking my sound card is idle and then turning it off because when I play Audiosurf, the game plays my MP3 files and so presumably Windows knows my sound card is in use but when I play any other game that just uses the game's own sound files/effects, then Windows isn't recognising this and after a certain period of time is then disabling my sound card.
Does anyone know of a solution for this or has come across something similar? I have an external sound card that is connected via USB (Line 6 Toneport UX2). Let me know if you require any more system specs, oh I'm using Win 7 HP 64bit btw.
I've had WMC up and running for about a year now, no problems. Tonight we decided to watch a movie that I have as an *.mkv file - we do this all the time, at least once a week if not more. I shut down WMC and played the movie in VLC Media player. When I went to start WMC again, the sound was gone. The sound works in the rest of the system. I can hear computer sounds, and VLC and other media players work fine. It's just WMC that has no sound.I checked all my devices and drivers, no errors. Though to be honest, if that was the problem I'd expect all sounds to be gone.I removed WMC from the system by using the "Remove Windows Features" in Control Panel, and then re-installed it. No difference.I did notice however that removing and re-installing WMC, I didn't have to re-setup all my channels, etc. The settings "stuck". (Oh, by the way, I did re-run the sound setup in WMC, no difference).I'm wondering if maybe my WMC settings are corrupted somehow? Is there some sort of config file perhaps? I have no backup plan here, this is my only way to watch TV. I guess I could wipe the drive and start from scratch, but I'd prefer not to.

Please can someone help me with this as it's driving me mad and when gaming online and chatting to my friend through Skype, the sound will suddenly just go off. While he can still hear me talking into the mic, I can't hear him or the game's sounds/music and he has to resort to typing me messages in-game.
My sound keeps stopping and going when I play any kind of a video or anything with music

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using skype and my microphone was working perfectly. So, I go downstairs, get a drink and return. Only to find that my microphone is suddenly broke. Now it's not the microphone it's self, It works on my laptop, and I have plugged in 3 mics and they all render the same problem.Basically, whether the mic is plugged in or not Windows reports that the mic is picking up sound (Green bar is FULL all the time). This happens on stereo mix, mono mix, line in etc.My Audio however works fine. I have tried front and back jacks, no difference. Although windows reports picking up sound, no sound is being processed (As tested through Skype, Sound Recorder and FRAPS). I did not change any hardware configs, as I went downstairs for literally 2 minutes. If I mute it however, the bar reduces to nothing (no sound being picked up).[CODE]

i have been having this problem for a few months now and thought that it was something todo with ventrilo settings. But i have recently started using skype now aswell and have been getting the same response from people that i am talking to on skype.
the headset never came with any install cd or anything so am i missing a setting in my control panel or something that is causing this to happen as it is getting quite annoying for the people that i am talking too.
I have been running windows 7 on my computer for quite some time and haven't had very many huge problems until recently. Now, sometimes when I start up my computer, it keeps on playing that warning sound that you hear whenever there is some sort of popup that tells you when something is wrong. But when it happens nothing ever pops up, and that warning sound plays nonstop every couple of seconds and it is driving me insane. I looked at task manager to see if there was some process that would be causing that error message and I found nothing. I also went to msconfig to make sure that all startup programs were disabled and they were. I also looked at my system sounds to see which sound it is and I found out that it is the asterisk sound. The problem I am having now doesn't happen all of the time but when it does, it lasts for a long time and requires restarting my computer.
And for the record, I am running windows 7 64 bit.
the sound from the laptop stop working. have done the steps thru media player still nothing

Yesterday, I made several updates (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit updates, upgrade to K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.8.4 and K-Lite Codec Pack 5.3.0-64bit, upgrade to Avira Free Antivirus 2012 and so forth...). After that, when I play sounds and plug my headphone, the sounds keep playing through BOTH headphone and speaker. This is extremely annoyed me because I have to work in the library, lab and class room with my laptop usually and I can't listen to music while studying with this problem.
