I tried using the Sound Recorder tonight for the first time and I fell on my face doing that too.I recorded about 20 seconds of music as a test and saved it to'My Music' folder. That part was successful.However, when I went to the folder to play it I noticed it had a 'gold lock' icon on the title. I tried playing it but nothing but silence.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen Windows Vista came out I noticed that there was a new version of the "Sound Recorder" that would not allow you to modify the sound you recorded before saving it I figured that Windows 7 would revert back to a Sound recorder that was a little more user friendly and allow you to modify the sound you recorded. It didn't.! I went back to one of my Windows XP PC's can copied the SNDREC32.EXE program from it and placed it on a USB Chip to test it.... It does work on the Windows 7 Professional Operating System, but I get an error message that states "There was an error updating the registery". How can I get this program to run on my Win-7 PC and not get the error message.?

After installation, the sound driver (Realtek HD Audio) is automatically detected and it works in a very riddiculous way:- In the Sound Setting --> Playback tab --> There're TWO speakers, both are High definition audio device and look exactly the same. If I set the first speaker as default, then I can hear sound from the laptop's speakers but when I plugin my headphone, I can not hear anything !!! If I set the second speaker as default, then the laptop's speakers doesn't work, but when I plugin my headphone, I can hear sound from my headphoneThis is very riddiculous and annoying, having to switch default sound device everytime I plugin or take out the headphone is almost absurd

Is there a way to revert back to the Windows XP Version of Sound Recorder on Windows 7 or is there a way to save an audio file in different formats like we were able to with the Win Xp version of Sound Recorder?Tried simply copying the sndrec32.exe over from the Win XP machine but that didn't work, got numerous errors when launched.

Each time there is a hassle to get it back running and sometimes it never finds a recording device although my laptop has a soundcard with stereo mix and an internal mic. I had both already working, recording from Stereo Mix and recording from Internal Mic., but I often have to re-estavblish a setting. Rt now although I select any recording device itll give me ano device found� warning. If I plaback a file everything works fine, but the Sound Recorder can�t record it today.

Setting is also very easy and it works inside Media center. Movies Quilty and sound goes down or get dim or it hard to hear the movies. In some movies such as Blu - Ray H264 1080p i have to bring my TV sound option to 100% to berly be able to hear sound. I transferd all of my music files from my old laptop whih is a toshiba windows vista. Most of the files have the artist, album and genre. Howvere, when i view them on my new laptop a lenovo ideapad iwndows 7, it isn't showing the properties for most of them...some yes...but very few. i just dont get it. I tried t save to a hard drive and then save to the new comp and to save to a flash drive and upload...same result both ways. I dont want to have to go through all 2000+ musc files and reenter all the properties..

My laptop runs fine when I play games, or browse, as long as i don't watch videos or listen to music, it doesn't mind if online or from my drive. Tried different software but no luck. I would think it's hardware, but i don't have this problem on linux.I ran windows 8 for a few days, didn't see the freezing there, but I don't like the OS.I think the problem is with the audio drivers or something, I tried old and new ones, but no result.I am running Windows 7 ultimate 32bit (64 doesn't help either). After that when I tried some movies, All the dialogues had been gone. I could hear the background music and background sounds but the midtones had been gone.
I tried many media players and different files but all had same results. The funny thing is The audio files are working all right only the video files have the problem. I tried restarting, Tried diff video files and diff players including VLC, Windows media player etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen listening to music on my PC, it does not matter if I use Winamp, Songbird, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, or any other software. Every so often, there appears some sort of distortion, like the drive that the music is on slows down. I dont know if it is the driver or what. Its hard to explain. You have to hear it. I dont think its the mp3 file itself, cause I could play a song and it will be perfect, but then the next time I play it, it will distort. It is really driving my nuts cause I can't find the reason for it.
