Unable to save audio recordings in CCIT-ulaw format since we went to Windows 7. Is there a way to revert back to the Windows XP Version of Sound Recorder on Windows 7 or is there a way to save an audio file in different formats like we were able to with the Win Xp version of Sound Recorder?Tried simply copying the sndrec32.exe over from the Win XP machine but that didn't work, got numerous errors when launched.
View 5 RepliesWhen Windows Vista came out I noticed that there was a new version of the "Sound Recorder" that would not allow you to modify the sound you recorded before saving it I figured that Windows 7 would revert back to a Sound recorder that was a little more user friendly and allow you to modify the sound you recorded. It didn't.! I went back to one of my Windows XP PC's can copied the SNDREC32.EXE program from it and placed it on a USB Chip to test it.... It does work on the Windows 7 Professional Operating System, but I get an error message that states "There was an error updating the registery". How can I get this program to run on my Win-7 PC and not get the error message.?

Each time there is a hassle to get it back running and sometimes it never finds a recording device although my laptop has a soundcard with stereo mix and an internal mic. I had both already working, recording from Stereo Mix and recording from Internal Mic., but I often have to re-estavblish a setting. Rt now although I select any recording device itll give me ano device found� warning. If I plaback a file everything works fine, but the Sound Recorder can�t record it today.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI wanted to remove my old HDD and I dont know why but I think part of the Windows 7 boot system was on it. So when I removed it, I couldn't boot anymore. I looked for my Windows 7 DVD, but only found the XP CD and tried to fix the MBR with that. However I tried 'fixmbr' and 'bootfix' and ended up with my HDD being formatted. Now I found my Windows 7 DVD, but its too late. It shows that the HDD is formatted. I also tried putting the HDD in another PC with XP, but there its the same way. I really need the data on it. There is probably a way to make it undone?

am using windows live photo gallery for a screensaver. It plays all photo and video except videos with in the MOV format. I have searched for a solution and have not found a resolution. So now I am searching for a screensaver that plays all video and photo files. I found a couple but you have to "build" it by pointing the screensaver to specific files. Does anyone know of a screen saver that would play all photo and video files by just pointing them to the folder containing the photos and videos?
View 14 Replies View Relatedsince i install CCCP 2011 (both of 2011 versions) some old programs stop to detect AVI formats in my pc and keep telling me it unknown format, video players working fine, and even editer programs such as movie maker, premier, and sony vegas, but old programs such as: 123 AVI to GIF Converter,Ulead GIF Animator 5,Gif Creator, and EximiousSoft GIF Creator v5.75 stop detected AVI!i assume the new cccp stop using some sort of filter or codec, i also notice that even progrems like movie maker edit my videos in totaly low quality.. no mattar what i change in the options (and yea , i done clean install to cccp 2011 , delete the old one, restart, delete leftover, install cccp 2011). there is any kind of codec that can run AVI files without interfere with cccp?

I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.
