View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a cd for windows 98, but I am scared that something is going to go wrong, like it is going to erase windows 7 and, that it is going to brake my computer, and that it won't work., so I will be left with no Operating System, since my computer did not came with a windows 7 disk, just like all new computers. Can you give steps, also if possible for Dual boot windows 2000?
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday i bought a new motherboard MSI G41M-P26 and i reinstalled windows because of this problem (im using win8 release preview) i installed Realtek (everything went fine) and i restarted my pc, after that i couldn't find the realtek icon anywhere, even on the program files the realtek folder is empty there are only 2 files (RtlUpd.exe can't even run it, and USetup.iss) the HDA folder is empty also.I reinstalled it many times, tried various versions of Realtek, it's not even on the Task Manager. It seems like it's installed but i can't run it. I have everything up to date,'s really important for me to use realtek.PS : i have the sound in case you were wondering. But i need realtek. It has so many good options and i'm using a 5.1 home theater.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi installed windows 7 and after that everything works fine except that there is no sound. the device manager says that the HD audio is working fine. the driver is the updated version.
I don't know what to do. both the internal speakers and the headphones are not working. but the symbol for audio says it is working just fine.
what could be the problem?
i built myself a new computer and it has an ASUS Rampage 3 Formula motherboard which has:SupremeFX X-Fi 2 built-in 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking Audio Feature :
- X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity™
- EAX Advanced™ HD 5.0
- THX TruStudio PRO™
- Creative ALchemy
- Blu-ray audio layer Content Protection
- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel
I install the Realtek audio driver software and i get access to all my cool EAX advanced HD, THX truStudio etc.. things on that list BUT i get crackling noises every now and again when playing music/games whatever.
However i uninstall the audio driver software and i get no crackling sound when i listen to music or such, but i cannot access any of the features anymore.Whats going on here? its not the speakers or headphones i use, they have been tested on multiple devices, this only happens after the audio driver is installed and the audio features are activated.
My PC spec is:
CPU: Intel i7 980 3.33Ghz 12mb cache 6 core
GPU: 2x GTX 460 1GB
MB: Asus Rampage III Formula
RAM: A-Data Plus v2.0 XPG 2GB 1866Mhz 8-8-8-24 x3 in triple channel
SSD: OCZ agility ~400-500mb read&write
HDD: 1TB 7500RPM WD caviar black
this is all brand new, i just finished building it all a while ago, so there is like no crap running in the background like viruses or unneeded programs.my speakers are just small desktop 2W speakers, and i also use iPhone headphones, i have tried using the front jack on my pc & the rear jack (one that says "front" and is a light green colour) i get the noises nomatter if its headphones or speakers.
if i chage audio drive to nvidea from my graphics card and plug speakers into audio jack on my monitor which gets the HDMI audio from the GPU i get perfect sound.Uninstalling Realtek audio driver makes my pc use a microsoft audio driver it must have default, but it sounds fine.i just cant do ANY of the audio features available from the motherboard without it. and i worry its not HDMI/cinematic surround without this?
I have recently reinstalled my operating system. Once formatted, I installed all the drivers, utilities for my motherboard and graphics card.I now have no sound, even though the RealTek audio driver is installed.I have gone into 'device manager' right clicked to check for updates and Windows advise me that my drivers are up to date. There is an 'x' on my audio icon stating "No Speakers or Headphones are plugged in" and i know my speakers are plugged in and working as i tested them on my ipod. My PC is recognising the input jack, as a window pops up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverything about the install appears to be going fine, but at the last step when it says completing installation, i have problems.
It says it's going to reboot and then does. When it's starting back up, is says setup is updating the registry. Then it says setup is starting services. It restarts again and when it gets to the same spot, out of nowhere the PC reboots and gets to the same point before endless rebooting.
I tried installing both 32 and 64 bit versions but the same problem with both of them. The 32 bit version I was able to get installed just fine on 2 old XP computers my friend had, so I know the disc itself is good.
I've tried just about everything I can think of but can't get past this issue. And every attempt is a big deal because I have to then restore my PC back to the original factory condition and it takes time. I don't have another PC of my own to troubleshoot with either. I've tried raising the RAM to 4GB but that had no effect. I'm sorta a beginner so any help is greatly appreciated.
i work for a local computer store, and i have always done our restore disks using ghost 2003, the dos .exe.. and it has worked fine..
Problem is now we have started pumping out Windows 7 machines and i cannot for the life of me get ghost to create a proper restore dvd, they always get a bootmgr error, i can run the repair off a Windows 7 dvd and that fixes it.. but thats not alot of help. (if you have ever delt with a end user you would know that everything has to be 1 touch and drool proof)
Anyway, anyone found any options for a good restore dvd setup? or a way around the bootmgr problem?
I have tried the old vista BCDEDIT and of course that doesn't work..
i have tried -FDSP, no go...
Any other ideas?
After you save your settings please follow this important step below in order for VT to work properly.
1. Enable VT in bios (where the option is, depends on your MoBo manufacturer)
2. Save BIOS Settings
3. Exit BIOS
4. Shut Down PC (some PC's will shut down automatically for about 3-4 seconds when you save the BIOS. Some will NOT)
5. Leave PC off for about 5-10 seconds
6. Boot PC
you should be all set.
I think this should save a lot of the posts where folk have enabled VT in their bios but it is still not working.
sticky maybe?

View 2 Replies View RelatedYou can use Problem Steps Recorder to automatically capture the steps you take on a computer, including a text description of where you clicked and a picture of the screen during each click (called a screen shot). Once you capture these steps, you can save them to a file that can be used by a support professional or someone else helping you with a computer problem.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi was working on w7 ultimate x64 (i had xp 32 before, but due a hardware upgrade i wanted to try an x64 os) when an automatic upgrade from windows poped up(i was pretty sure i disabled the option before, but.. whatever). The thing is the upgrade never completed ( 2 hours freezed on the final step) and i had to reboot(i know, my mistake).from here, i tryed to boot but i did not sucess. the first issue apeared when i turned on the pc, and the boot recovery windows poped up, to check if there waserrors on the HDD. but wont never ever complete (6 or 7 hours running)i started to search on the web for a solution and i found a bunch of similar cases (a failed update and a failed boot recovery) but no clear solutions.never the less, the moest of the cases pointed at the same spot: "the bootmgr file" and i started to try a few steps posted on forums.first of all, i put the w7 dvd instalation and accesed to the console prompt.i followed these steps to delete and reinstall the bootmgr, or at least, that was what the post told me [CODE]well, i am about of exploding or jumping from a roof... seriously, i have some unfinished works to deliver in the begining of the week and i will not succes if ineed to blow up my D: and reinstall.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have both Realtek HD Audio and THX and i am wondering what is the best way to use these two together. I would much rather use just one because i switch between my Logitech surround sound speakers and headphones (that i plug directly into the logitech speaker and not directly into my realtek audio device via the back of the computer) and so i am always having to switch settings around whenever i switch between just speakers or headphonesDoes anyone have some experience with this or knows the best ways to use both of these audio managers or just one? Its rather annoying. Ive thought about just removing THX so i only have to deal with one, but it does seem to make a difference but it could also just be ignorance. On a side note... i dont suppose there is anyway for realtek to recognize that i have inserted a headset into my speaker's headphone jack and adjust its settings.also after updated my realtek driver, i can no longer get the audio manager icon to appear in my notification bar.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have no sound after installing windows 7. 7 realizes that I have a realtek ac'97 but when I look at it on the device manager it says it has some sort of problem. When I inspect the driver through the properties window I see (Code 10) as the problem.
Things that I have tried and have NOT worked:
- Uninstalling/ removing from the device manager and let 7 reinstall it
- download the latest driver from realtek labeled R2.31 (dated 2009-08-24)
- downloaded Realtek driver R2.27 (dated 2009-06-22)
- downloaded additional older drivers
- downloaded the VIA Vinyl AC'97 Drivers
- Checked the HP site for drivers
Obviously none of those things have worked. Running googly searches I have seen that there are others that are experiencing the same problem but no solutions so far (that i can find). I was wondering if someone was familiar with this problem or had found a solution.
For some unknown reason realtek drivers can't detect my mic and thinks that I am using speakers (I'm using headset) no idea how to fixed this , google whole day couldn't find anything , tried uninstalling , installing new drivers , tried windows drivers no luck, here's a screenshot maybe someone could help me out , I tried out Game booster software and defragmented my c:/ hard then I noticed the problem with my mic. I am running windows 7 64x ,also I've tested my mic on my laptop it works fine with windows 7(x32) default drivers...
