Feb 10, 2012ok my pc has been getting BSODs quite often and i havent been able to fix it yet.. but today i got a different type of BSOD. im not big in computer tech so i didnt have a clue on what it is and disregarded the numbers..:/ Also i have been getting regular BSODs for about 2-3 months now and i even tried reformatting whicim running free avg antivirus and some people say thats the cause.. but i run the same antivirus on my laptop and it works just fine i have uploaded the file from C:windowsminidumpim running Windows 7 home premium 64bit original (full retail)comp is about 6months oldlatest re-format was about a month

Apr 23, 2011BSOD: The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000, 0x00000000) I'm getting this on a shop system running Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit. The last thing I did was shutdown before going home and I believe it installed an update then shutdown, so I'm suspecting the update caused the problem.
I can't get into the F8 Safe Mode screen to try Last known good configuration so I think I'll try a System Restore from the install DVD. Does that sound like a good approach?
I don't have the specs with me but I think it's a 2.8Ghz Dual core Intel with 4GB RAM and two SATA drives. It's been running fine for about a year.

Sep 23, 2009Our company uses an accounting program called Wisetracks which is built using the Borldand Database Engine.
We have installed this program under 32bit Windows XP as well as Windows 32bit Vista.
It will not install under Windows 7 64bit which we want to move to.
I have installed the program under Windows 7 XP Mode.
The problem is the following:
The Borland Database Engine administrator requires the database files which reside on our server as Drive F: to be mapped .
Under Windows 7 the mapped drive is shown as:
F on Win7PC and the Borland program does not recognize this.
How can I do drive mappings so that this works.
HDD Noise Is Abnormal
Apr 3, 2011Normally both of my HDDs (750 segate, 250 segate) never make any noticeable noise above the sound of my fans. A few days ago one of them (haven't narrowed it down to which one) make a loud beep sound and then revs itself up really fast. They both seem to be working fine, but they have never really made any noises until now and I'm worried about the health of the drive. It's one of my storage drives.

Feb 8, 2013My Mom has an HP laptop. She recently purchased a new HP printer and I have been trying for the last 4 days to get it to install/connect. I've been in touch with HP but the links they provide aren't resolving the issues. First, using the CD that came with the printer: hangs up at around 85-90%. It doesn't not show up as installed. I copied the CD to the desktop, modified Setup.exe in CFFExplorer and Run as Administrator and it appears to completely install; however, when I go to Device Manager, it says no driver is found.
I sometimes have the option to update and sometimes that seems to work but I can't access it through Add a Printer (which has the green bar run across the top, then pulsate and freeze). Trying to install using the driver I download from HP results in no installing screen appearing but it does hang up in the background and the only way to stop it is to Restart. The same thing happens if I try to use HPs Wizard. I've installed several HP printers through the years and not had this much trouble. That doesn't even include the dozens of times I've had to reinstall my own HP printer because of its contrariness!
Additionally, attempts to uninstall the old printer results in it hanging up/freezing soon in to the process, whether I try to uninstall from the Start menu, file or Uninstall program. I'm not even being able to get the Windows Updates to install - that process also just hangs up/freezes. I've not checked her machine in a while so there are many updates; however, when I just choose 1 at a time, it still sits at 0% and never moves. The printer, when connected, is with the USB and I've tried all 4 USB ports on this just in case. Am still in touch with HP but they are sending me the usual links so I'm hoping perhaps someone here can think of something a little less ordinary!
Superfetch Service Terminated
Jul 28, 2011I bought a new computer about 7 months ago and it ran very well. I was extremely happy with it. Especially how quickly it would boot up. I eventually noticed, however, that the start up of my pc was getting extremely slow. I opened the event viewer and noticed that at the time of my computers startup, the superfetch service wouldnt be able to start. It said: The Superfetch service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. After doing quite a bit of research, i ran a hdd integrity test through the command prompt, emptied the prefetch cache. and even upgraded and re-installed the operating system. The service superfetch still fails to start. Occasionally, it did however start after i emptied the prefetch cache and my computer instantly, started up very fast. Like new again. But the next time i booted up my pc, it failed to start again. I want the service to be reliable and start every time.

Even installing from an external dvd player results in the same problem, when Windows starts to copy files during installation, the proces freezes every time. The ssd itself is working, I checked that in another system. Could it be a problem with the combination of a Kingston SSDNow V series in the Asus eeePC 1201HAB?
Downloading Via Firefox Terminated If Browser Closed?

I noticed that when I did this all downloads terminated and left me with incomplete files. Since IE has never behaved this way I was most upset and gave Firefox the boot. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.

Nov 9, 2012New dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.

Dell Community suggested going to the folder, double clk the DSUpdate.exe and follow the prompts to update, but I get the above error when doing so. Another option was to create recovery media to work around the problem, but I did that upon initial set up of the pc.
Many Services "terminated Unexpectedly" At Random Times
Feb 17, 2010I'm running windows x64 pro and in my event logger, I keep seeing the same services being "terminated unexpectedly". All these services terminate at the same time and seems to terminate randomly. Here are the services that terminates:
Windows audio service
DHCP client service
Windows event log service
Homegroup provider service
TCP/IP netbios helper service
Security center service
After a while these services restarts and everything seems normal.I ran a scan with Norton internet security 2010 and no virus were found.

I'm running a system with 1.7TB of available drive space (20GB on the OS drive as it's a smaller SSD drive) and 6GB of RAM. Jan 8, 2012When I don't touch my computer for a while, I get CPU 100% (or CPU 50% on this dual core). As soon as I touch the mouse, in one second the culprit escapes. I know it's something under svchost.exe and I know I could see which svchost with Process Explorer or Svchost Viewer. But since the whole process disappears as soon as I touch mouse, it's pretty difficult to pinpoint. Svchost Viewer doesn't list all the processes in one screen, scrolling is needed. So it's basically always hidden and I can't scroll to it as that kills the process.How do I find out what exact process inside svchost.exe is eating my CPU during idle? My goal is to prevent the offending process altogether from starting.By the way, which settings of Windows Defender can cause this CPU 100% on idle problem, I didn't yet try shutting down all the settings there.
