BORLAND DATABASE ENGINE XP MODE / Drive Mapping
Sep 23, 2009
Our company uses an accounting program called Wisetracks which is built using the Borldand Database Engine.
We have installed this program under 32bit Windows XP as well as Windows 32bit Vista.
It will not install under Windows 7 64bit which we want to move to.
I have installed the program under Windows 7 XP Mode.
The problem is the following:
The Borland Database Engine administrator requires the database files which reside on our server as Drive F: to be mapped .
Under Windows 7 the mapped drive is shown as:
F on Win7PC and the Borland program does not recognize this.
How can I do drive mappings so that this works.

2) It sees the Win XP laptop but not the 2K server.
3) Suggest the help files be updated

this is one for the techie (if you dare (LOL)). When my computer boots, it automaticly tries to map to my external hard drive through my wifi. Of course it can't and it states can't do it. But after a few seconds/minutes I can go to computers, click on it (red X) and it brings it up for the rest of the time or until I reboot the computer.

Trying to map a windows 7 drive to xp via network switch and Ethernet. I've given the 7 machine a static IP of 10.10.10.10 and the xp machine 10.10.10.11.
From the xp machine: type 10.10.10.10 and get credentials box. Insert user name and password and it connects immediately and shows "users" folder...no problem. However, if I try 10.10.10.10C$ or any other drive and enter the same user name and password it changes the user name to "computer name""user name" and nothing happens. I CAN'T GET THIS TO WORK AFTER 6 DAYS!
from the 7 machine: type 10.10.10.11 and connects without credentials needed. type 10.10.10.11c$ and get credentials box. put user name and password and immediately have access to that drive with no problems.
No matter what I try I cannot get to any drives on the windows 7 machine from the xp machine and its driving me crazy. It also will not work if I'm logged in with the same user name and password on each machine at the same time.

Has anyone else had problems mapping the home drive through active directory in Windows7 ? we are running windows server 2003 for our domain controllers. This works flawlessly in windows xp stations, but i can't get it to work on windows 7 stations. I'm hoping i don't have to map the home drive through the login scripts.

I am having issuse with an XP-win 7 upgrade.
When I use WET utility it tries to install all my files onto my small C:drive. The original .mig file comes from a computer with C: J: K: drives... the new comp just has C: and D:.
Why isn't it giving me an option to map the drives when I upgrade?
It tries to install on C drive then gives up when it runs out of space.
When I look at the map drive tab in WET it says 'no drives are available for mapping.'

I have a big problem, I was using NetDrive to map my FTP Server to my computer for some time now. I was using Windows Vista 32-Bit, I just installed Windows 7 64-Bit. Now to a surprise I found out that NetDrive doesn't support 64-Bit Operating Systems as of this time. I have been searching no-stop for about 2 hours and haven't found much.
I found some posts that recommended another FREE program to use that is like NetDrive but they still doesn't support 64-Bit. I don't want to buy a $50.00 program like WebDrive for example. I have also tried to use windows explorer to connect to the FTP Server and doesn't seem to work well (mostly not at all). I don't know why?
So at this point I am asking everyone if someone knows of a FREE program or method that I can use to connect my FTP Server to a local drive on my computer?

We have a company drive that we map folders from to certain computers. They reconnected at log in like normal. However, we have a separate external drive that when I map a folder from it, it never reconnects on log in. I have set the folder permissions for the user I want. I have tried directly connecting with the folder share name and also using the IP address of the server. They will initially connect when you set it up at first, but then it never reconnects to the drive/folder when logging back on. I have tried almost everything I can find and it still never seems to connect.

This makes no sense. I have always had 2 cpu's on a network. My main rig, and a "server". (Basically a storage and backup cpu). Well I just built a new rig, and installed Win 7 RC. Re formatted my old "main" rig to become my new "server". I still had the old "server" (Win XP) connected to the network, and had no problems mapping the drive to my Win 7 machine, and the new server with Win XP.
Now, I took the 320GB Storage drive out of the thrid CPU and installed it in the new "server" and tried to map the drive to my Win 7 Machine. I can not for the life of me get it to work. Both machines have the same user and p/w for login. WHAT GIVES?

I recently brought a Dlink DNS-320 and have searched the relevant forums for that product but all the solutions for resolving a 'map network drive error' have been unsuccessful.I have tried mapping the drive on this product using the IP address and I can ping the IP address for this device, the device also appears on my network via UPnP but I unfortunately I get a error message when trying to map the network drive the DNs-320 also came with a storage utility to map drives but that doesn't work either.I have gone through previous posts and tested this without my firewall on or changing the TCP/IP settings.

I am having issues on an HP windows 7 home desktop. it had been infected by a virus, but this error came before it. Anytime I try to run Microsoft's fixit or any troubleshooter, it comes up with the error of that Sdiageng.dll is either missing or corrupted. so, I tried to run sfc from command prompt. well, if finds stuff alright, but alas, it can't fix it! so I look at the log, and it says that it's database is also corrupted. well, I have no idea what to do. I found sdiageng.dll in the windows directory/system files. it's there. I even replaced it. still, same error. this all started with me trying to fix windows update error 1 and 643. I have run numerous scans of malwarebyte's and trend micro and super-anti-spyware. they found some stuff, I got rid of it. but still the error remains. I have searched around for a way to be able to fix sfc's database, I tried one, but the commands were for vista. I was hoping it'd work, since vista and 7 are really similar, but it didn't. so I am hoping someone on these forums can give me some help. I know a fair amount of knowledge of computers, and whatever I don't know, I can usually find on google. and I know some information about malware and viruses and the whatnot that's bad stuff. I've had to remove malware twice from computers and I didn't kill them in the process.

I'm trying to centralize the Hosts file onto a network hard disk for a group of computers at my work place. However, the HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersDatabasePath registry item appears to be ignored by WIndows7. So far, after hours of researching on the Internet, and experimentation on one Win7 machine (Home Ed.), I have come to a personal conclusion that Windows7 does not support the DatabasePath anymore, and the existence of DatabasePath is either a left-over or backward-compatibility for apps and programs. I have found on the Internet only one (ask&ans) post on Aug/24/2011 that directly asks about both Win7 and the fact that the DatabasePath registry value being ignored. From the Internet, it seems that the problem with relocating the Hosts file happens mostly with Win7 (and works fine with WInXP), and any problems in the other Windows versions are mainly due to errors of some kind with either the registry's DatabasePath, or the Hosts file, or security authorization. In my experiments, I used a temporary folder in my 'c' drive to hold the test Hosts file, and I verified the following points:
-My test Hosts file does work as I've copied and tested it in the WindowsSystem32driversetc folder.
-No matter what the HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersDatabasePath is set to in the registry, Win7 will always read the Hosts file in c:WindowsSystem32driversetc even after a reboot or "ipconfig /flushdns."
-I could MOVE the etc folder to the Windows folder, set DatabasePath to c:Windowsetc (or even %SystemRoot%etc), reboot, and Win7 will still try to find 'Hosts' in c:WindowsSystem32driversetc, after which Win7 operates as if the Hosts file was empty. (After verifying that Win7 will not load the Hosts file from c:Windowsetc, moving the etc folder back to c:WindowsSystem32drivers, and either rebooting or issuing an "ipconfig /flushdns"--without changing the registry--will reload the Hosts file table properly.)
-On the chance a program was interfering, I did a clean boot (using msconfig to prevent loading all non-system programs at boot-up), and Win7 still tried to read a c:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts file when DatabasePath was pointed somewhere else.
-The registry really is case-INsensitive.

building a Access 2010 database application and I've been told that most of the functions I want it to complete have to be done in VBA. Our company doesn't want to hire somebody to complete this 1 application so I'm in charge of finding any websites or other companys that can do it for us. I've found a couple other sites that I think can do this, for example [URL], but I want to find a few more so I can be sure we are getting the best price.

After I turned off my computer just like that without shutting down, the boot up got very slow.
I checked the event log and found a certain event that takes 16 seconds before it continues, causing the "Starting Windows" screen to stall quite a while before the colorfull balls appear. I have no idea what that does. Any ideas?
The error says:
Windows (3996) Windows: The database engine is initiating recovery steps.

I am working on machines at a local car lot heres the system details.Verizon DSL wireless router, don't know the exact model but all 4 computers are hard wired to it with newer cat5e.4 newer desktop computers, within months. all 4 same specs. They are HP systems with 8gb of ram running Win 7 x64 They use a program called car lot manager, it basically is installed on 1 machine and creates an access database. Then that folder is shared. The other 3 computers install the software and access the database file through that share. The database file was about 100mb which I figured was probably the issue, so I cleaned it up and compressed it. Its now down to around 40mb and has the exact same issue.-- The issue is, if more than 2 computers have the car lot manager open (not even using, just open) it begins to move extremely slow to where windows take 2-3 minutes to open and the application hangs. And I'll add we have tried different combinations of which computers are running the software, trying to see if maybe 1 certain machine was the issue.I have been on the phone several times with the programmer of the software and he claims it is ran at several large car lots as well with 10 or much more computer systems and he verified everything is setup correct and looked through his software. The original setup was the Verizon modem into a netgear 8 port gig switch, then the 4 computers into it. I removed the switch just to see if anything changed, it didn't seem to make a difference.

but I've lost the content in the database file of my notes in Sticky Notes 7. !
Is there a possible way to recover this? I have 8 database files, which all containing almost the same content.
I think the problem is because i have stored the database file in Google Drive, and i did not activate the synchronizing option in Sticky Notes 7. So when i was editing on my workstation computer, and came home to my laptop. The content was still the same. To day, when i was going to my workstation computer, it is the same content as my laptop. The content which I've been written last week is totally gone!
I've tried in the recycle bin function in Sticky Notes 7, but there was nothing. I know I've done some stupid things. Cause i didn't active the sync.
Also, when i want new content in my note, i just delete the existing content, and add some new. I'm not saving the database files in weeks, or months or so on (to keep control over the files) I will do that in the future!
