this is the msg appearing in a black surface of my pc. i have this gateway one zx6000 for about a year and a half.windows 7. i dont have my disc anymore. i have tried changing the bios to hard disk drive only and disabled the other devices but still not giving any changes. how will i reboot this pc without a disc?
when I turn on my pc I get the follolwing error message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key".
I am having a problem starting my PC! I have to start it in the boot menu under the RAID option. If I do not do this a message saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.." comes up, and just keeps popping up regardless of what I press! I would try using my boot disk but for the life of me I can't find it, and as windows 7 was already installed on this computer when we got it 3 year ago, I can't accurately recall if it came with one!I am no expert on BIOS, but I have read other problems similar to this one, and know that if I don't have the boot disk or the OS disk, I will need to know that at least.I am curious if the (Hard drive) is the issue. The BIOS tells me that anything in parentheses is disabled from corresponding type menu.
I recently received a new laptop. After starting after time with no problems I received a blue screen with Verticle black stripes then it shut off. After attempting to reboot it I receive this error in a black DOS like screen.

Reboot and select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device press a key"
When it crashes the cursor still moves and sometimes I can move windows around but then it all shuts down and sometimes briefly shows a blue screen of death. On reboot I sometimes get this message and have to reboot again. "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"It's a brand new box just built last week but no warranty and I would not even know what part to replace if it's hardware related.I've attached a Hijackthis to the post if it helps but I don't think it's virus related at all.
When left alone..."Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"I have a new(ish) cpu that I bought last Christmas, it works great and it has not crashed on me whenever I am using it. However, when I leave it on overnight (usually when it is downloading something big), when I wake up in the morning I am greeted with a black screen with the words:"Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"When this happens I simply press the power button a few seconds to turn it off, then turn it on again and it boots normally. (pressing a key only results in the message being repeated)What infuriates me is that it only ever happens when I leave it on overnight so I don't know when and how exactly it occurs but it almost always does. Like I said earler, it never does this when I am using it as it works fine otherwise. It just won't stay on overnight when I need it to.

The BIOS boot priority is 1# Dvd Player and 2# Harddrive (so it detects both). It's also a SATA harddrive so I don't need to do anything with jumpers. Then when I insert the Windows 7 DVD it outputs the following error:reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected The PC is new and got build at a store so the only thing I need to do is install the software.
Just installed a new Seagate Barracuda 500 GB replacing an exact model that has failed."Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected Boot device and press any key."When I plug the old C drive back in it boots, but the new one won't. What should I do?

I just changed my PSU and upgraded my graphics card today. I tried booting it up and it came up with this message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key."I'm pretty sure I got all the cables in correctly and I only have one harddrive. No externals.By the way, I don't have my windows 7 CD because I let a friend borrow it and I won't be able to get it back for some time. However, I do have a Windows XP CD if that helps in any way.
I just put together a PC from scratch and when i start my computer it says: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.I put in a copy of Windows 7 Home to boot, and it just continues to say that when i restart/press a key.
My lapotop is HP Pavilion 9750 running Windows 7 Enterprise (with the latest updates). When I'm inserting the HDMI cable to view my screen on the TV it automatically shows the video, but I have to manually change the default playback from "Speakers" (Realtek High Definition Audio) to "Realtek Digital Output" (Realtek High Definition Audio) so I could hear the audio from my TV and not from the computer.
Is there a way to make that switch automatically when I connect/disconnect the HDMI cable?
My asus Eee pc 1005HAB is not properly working, whenever I open it there's a reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key...message.
It came with 2 primary partitions: a 650 gb C drive (boot) and a 50 gb D drive (recover). Because the windows partition tool didn't let me reduce the partition size by more than 50%, I decided to use EaseUS partition master to do that. I made D drive logical and renamed it to F, made the C drive 200 gb and made a new 400 gb logical drive and named it D. Then I restarted the laptop and let the tool do its work. After this, the problem started. I couldn't get past the bios screen, and couldn't even tap F2 and F8 to get in the boot menu. When I inserted my windows 7 recovery dvd, I heard the dvd drive working, but nothing happened. When I plugged in a usb drive, however, the laptop loaded the cd drive and I could reinstall windows 7 from the cd. Windows works now, actually, even my old windows installation still works, but I still can't boot up without inserting the usb drive first.
i have on my ventrilo and my sound stopped working after it happened. when i log on vent i get this message saying "unable to activate directsound for selected device. directsound capturecreate failed. hr= dserr_no driver. no sound driver is available for use" weird part is i can hear people in vent but i can't hear anything else like Internet. i have hp computer model number is a6332f
I have used HyperTerminal 6.3 on several XP laptops. I have a new desktop with Windows 7, installed HyperTerminal to monitor a USB bridge application (COM3), but get "another program is using selected telephone device" when USB is connected. SO, I can't communicate with it.
Whenever i insert a DVD into my DVD drive, my system gets shutdown and reboots. And after rebooting it shuts down again.Unless i eject the DVD, my PC wont come to normal state. In Short, When DVD Drive reads the DVD, system gets shutdown.
the problem i'm having is to do with the dvd/cd device on my "acer aspire 4741 with windows 7 home premium x64 notebook".the driver for the device is:DVD/CD ROM drives - (Standard CD-ROM drives)HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30Ni decided to creat a system backup to use in case of a serious crash and i have to reinstall windows. i was able to do this on 4dvds using erecovery. i haven't had the need to use theseince then, i have burned some folders onto a dvd disc....to use like a usb....using windows explorer. all goes well with the burning part but when it comes to mounting the disc to access the folders is when all hell breaks loose.
whenever i slot the disc into the device, a dialog box shows up asking how i'm going to be using the disc. if i skip that part, launch windows explorer and double click the dvd icon, a window shows up alerting me to drag files onto the window to burn, but the folders that i had already burned on the dvd never shows up.this is what i have tried so far:1) launched microsoft fixit4me from the microsoft support center to check and fix dvd/cd device.result: problem detected but could not fi2) started system in "safe mode" ran diagnostic tool.result: CDROM-the device,DeviceCDROM0 has a bad block
I have a toshiba laptop, which my friend has formated it, he had formated every thing n no os is in it, when windows 7 dvd is inserted in it it shows boot manager missing.
My mom has a problem with her older desktop. It keeps coming up to reboot with proper boot device or insert media. I have gone into the BIOS and changed the boot sequence, but no matter what I do, that message always appears. There is not a cd in the drive. I have tried removing the cd-rom from boot-up completely, and it still goes back to that message. I know this is an older machine, but really I just want to get the info off it for her and I am unable to do that right now. Is this a hard drive issue, or a motherboard issue? I realize this message has been asked before, but the answers appear to be the same; to make sure the boot sequence is correct. I have already done that and its not working. PC runs windows 7 with all the updates.
I've had a Windows 7 computer for several days now. Every time I want to remove a USB from a slot, I do the 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media'. But it then tells me "This device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the deice and then try again. Some of the USB's I just look at to see what was on them before trying to remove them. The last one was when I did a 'Datasafe Local Backup' When I tried to remove it, I was given the "this device is in use message...'.
