I just bought a Packard bell notebook last week, I know is going to sound silly, but after I have created my user password, next time I'll turn the computer on, I find out that I forgot my password, I didn't created a recovery disk, or a password reset disk for this computer.
Please I just need some help to restore the computer to a factory settings. The computer didn't come with CD or DVD factory.
I create a restore point everyday since my computer is not automatically doing it. And the next day I have no restore point.

I then tried to restore it to an earlier time via safe mode but the restore point available is only the one as at the time of the update. I tried to create a restore point, but when i tried, i cannot even find system protection when i looked for it and it directs me to system properties where my computer's description is blank and it cannot be edited.Even the updates cannot be uninstalled via safe mode.Is there no other options i can try in order to start my laptop normally again?

I started it as usual, ran a TuneUp Utilities check (as I usually do) and, in the meantime, was prompted by my iTunes installer to install a new version of iTunes. I clicked OK on the install thing, then all of a sudden I get this message from the HP Support Assistant: Windows System Restore is not activated. So I go to the System Protection folder to try to manually enable it, but I get an error message that says an unexpected error occurred: System restore has found an error, try to run System restore again. I do this a thousand times, and the same message pops up.
So I run my Norton antivirus and SpyBot Search and Destroy. The Norton search comes up empty, but the SpyBot returns this: Babylon Toolbar and Win32.Downloader.bltu. So I click to fix the problems and an error message pops up in SpyBot saying I'm not running it as admin, so the problems can't be fixed. Well, my user account is an admin account (the only one I have in this computer), so there's obviously something very wrong here, for it seems like whatever this is, it's keeping me from executing whatever task may remove it. I also execute sfc /scannow from a command prompt and the returning message is that I cannot run sfc /scannow because I'm not an administrator.
I want my system to automatically create a restore point before installing any program/software in it? How can set this up on my windows 7 64 bit laptop?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a few friends that would like me to fix some virus/malware issues. Most are Win 7 users(a few running XP), but don't have any of their installation media or driver disks or anything. I've had a few personal instances where I used Norton or a similar program to scan for viruses before, and when it did so it removed some of the boot files, or some other system critical file. I don't want that to happen here, cause I don't want to give them back useless machines.
Can I just create a "Repair Disk(DVD)" in Windows? Will that take care of an issue like the one I described above? Should I use an external to create images of each, one at a time, run the scans and then use the image if anything goes wrong? And if something does go wrong, how would I restore from the image? I've never done that before, and I'm eager to learn.
My problem is that installing software or running Windows Update takes loads of time (6 minutes longer than usual) while the system otherwise appears to run quickly. Running Win7x64 and Security Essentials.
Upon troubleshooting, I found that my computer cannot make System Restore Points, and it apparently tries to do so for 6 minutes. I deleted all restore points, expanded the space to 100%, and turned off and on system restore, without any success - I cannot create a restore point. My VSS service seems to be running just fine. The specific error is EID: 8193, and the text is: Failed to create restore point (Process = C:Windowssystem32 undll32.exe /d srrstr.dll,ExecuteScheduledSPPCreation; Description = Scheduled Checkpoint; Error = 0x81000101).
everytime I create a restore point on windows 7, it disappears upon a reboot.

The DVD I do create, contain two folders named Audio_TS and Video_TS. Only the Video_TS contains any data, the Audio_TS folder is empty. I edit them a bit and then join them together before burning them. I suspect I need some kind of autorun scripts installed also that will start the DVD automatically. I decided to just restore my computer to its factory settings. I backed up all my files on 5 Verbatim DVD+R. Now I am using Windows 7 again. When I tried to restore the files on the DVD, the Back up and Restore feature wouldn't let me restore from the DVD. All my school work, picture, and music is gone now.
