View 2 Repliessavvy, and am having troubles installing Windows 7 on my laptop. I purchased the software, downloaded the .iso file from Microsoft's site, then burned the .iso file to a disc. Once on the disc it showed a few different folders and a setup option. I launched the setup option, which brought up the install window for windows 7. I chose clean install because upgrade is not an option for the current version of vista that I have, and while it is copying the files, after about 3% it gives me the error code 0x80070241 and says something about not being able to copy all of the needed files and that some of them may be corrupted. I don't know if this is a problem with my computer or with the disc that I've burned.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis appears to be a somewhat common install error and it happened to me.
Searched and discovered multiple _possible_ hardware and software causes and multiple _possible_ resolution schemes.
The only consistent solution regardless of all other factors was a boot from the Windows 7 install media; DVD, USB, etc....
Necessitates a temporary BIOS change to make the Windows 7 media the 1st boot media.
Me: Dell Optiplex/P4 3Ghz/2GBmem, XP Pro sp3, Windows 7 to be installed on a clean fresh dedicated 75GB drive.
Failure History: multiple downloads, multiple DVD burns at various speeds on multiple drives and multiple media mfrs, copied to new drive, ISO busted to new drive - Install always started in Windows environment and always failed with Error 0x80070241.
Success: Reset BIOS to boot from DVD, seamless install from DVD, 1st time.
Observation: On some hardware/software configs, in some obscure corner of Windows there sometimes exists a process/dll/driver/etc.... that creates a conflict with the Windows 7 installer; run the installer in a 'non-windows' boot and no conflict.
I've installed Windows 7 32-Bit RC1 on my desktop without issues using Daemon tools and mounting the ISO and installing to a separate partition, that's all very peachy. The original OS was Vista HP 32-bit.
Can't say the same for my laptop running Vista HP 64-Bit. Using the same method, the installer gets to about 12% and then comes with this error.
Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070241
I've downloaded more then 10 GB in the past 3 days re-downloading .ISO from both the Microsoft site and Bittorrent sites and seeing if they're corrupted. They're not. I get the same error every single time. Something else is the problem.
I tried installing BOTH the 32-bit and 64-bit inside my Laptop Vista 64 bit OS and I get the same error.
I've also unzipped the .ISO to my drive and tried installing that way. Same deal. Why did my Desktop go so smooth but my laptop is a living hell?
I have tried installing Windows 7 in Virtual PC and on my HP 2133 netbook. Both halt when in the copy file stage with this error message:
Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070241 I have downloaded the iso's again (from the Microsoft partner site) in case there was a corrupt download, but I get the same error.
The VPC image was using the ISO directly, and I copied the files from the iso to a usb drive for the netbook install. Anyone else see this?
I got a original windows 7 ultimate CD and during the upgrade it gives below error code
Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570
How do i complete to installation.
I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I'm trying to upgrade to 7. I bought the college copy so I only have the download, no DVD.
When I get to like 10% of installation I get error 0x80070241, and it says that a file is corrupted or missing and installation cannot continue.
I know everyone hates n00bs who ask questions that have already been answered, and I did google this first (and call Microsoft), but the results I found on google went right over my head and Microsoft was not helpful at all (I shot them off an e-mail thinking I might get better service that way, but they haven't responded yet.)
Anyway, what can I do? I really really want Vista off my computer but it like refuses to die lol.
i need the driver for windows 7....error code 28.My laptop is a philips x58......please help....the message i get is Mass Storage Controller Driver not installed

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a dell XPS 420 64bit two years ago and a year later upgraded to windows 7 64bit (upgrade) . The last two years my hard drive has frozen and this summer required an additional hard drive. With some difficulty, I was able to reinstall the windows 7 upgrade witch had come in a box with no code numbers). I now have received on my computer notices from Microsoft that my use of windows will be discontinued in 30 days if I can not provide my code numbers! What do I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, I recently updated my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate to SP1 (as of about half an hour ago), and I've had one noticeable problem: my sound doesn't work.
This means that unfortunately, I cannot hear the sound of a Ferrari 458 Italia starting up as I log in, and even more so I cannot blast Rush louder than a sonic boom.
Well, here's the deal: Windows 7 reports to me that there are no input or output sound devices installed. So, I go into device manager. Device manager tells me that "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The drivers may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" for the audio devices (HDMI) on my ATI Radeon HD 5700s AND my onboard Realtek ALC889, along with "Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers". I uninstalled the driver with device manager and restarted. They showed up again, with code 39. I tried updating the drivers with windows update. Nothing. I installed drivers from the Gigabyte website. Nothing. Still that code 39 shows up. I even tried a "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" registry key fix. That didn't work either.
I tried uninstalling SP1 and trying the aforementioned fixes, and nothing. Same issue. Reinstalled SP1, and same issue still! Somewhere along the line, "Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers" stopped showing up in computer management.
I would do a system restore, BUT the most recent backup was in december 2010, since restore points have been disabled for some strange reason. Out of desperation (not being able to hear "The Fifth Order of Angels" ), I tried a system restore, but that failed since I don't have enough space on my boot disk (an 80 gig ssd).
Even more intriguingly, my creative fatal1ty USB headset (older one) works fine. I get sound in and out through that guy. It's just the 5770s and the ALC889.
I decided I'm going to wait this out. If I don't see a hotfix in the next month, that's it. I'm reimaging or reinstalling.
Otherwise, do you have any input with regard to this matter? I'm going to test the sound card from a live cd and see if that does anything, but I'm more than confident the ALC889 is in good working order.
i recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. What is wrong with my computer? I also ran a system repair thing from the windows 7 disk, and it came up with this error: System File Integrity Check and Repair Error Code 0X490
My Hardware is:
AMD Anthlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
2 Hitachi HDT725032VLA SCSI 320 gb hard drives
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS Graphics Card
3gb of system memory

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt ran in safe mode with networking so I was able to email all of the files I wanted WHEW! That was until today and now it won't load to any screen except for the screen that gives you the choice to repair, or to run windows normally. Either one brings me to the login screen but the login never comes up. The screen just sits there with the mouse. I have a dell inspiron, that we purchased 1 year and 1 month ago ergh! This means that the warranty is out. I have read so many forums, and tried to launch repair and it just won't do it. Dell won't send me a new recovery disk because I don't have the warranty anymore, but rather as others have stated Dell states that it is the hard drive as an easy answer. I don't believe it. Why does it load in safe mode, well except for today? I just need my laptop to be working. It is a life line in my house. From the things I have read on here it could be a virus or malware issue that is corrupting the boot sector. But I don't know what else to do about repairing it. The installation cds are not working. I have used f8 to load from the disk drive and it got to the starting set up and stopped.

I went into the Update folder in Control Panel and looked at the "update history" to find that every time I shut down, the update attempts have "failed".The error code is 66A. I tried the "Windows Fix-It" and it didn't work. I don't know what to try next. The three update items are for NET.Framework 4.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 year old Alienware desktop running Win 7 Professional. I have never had any major problem including running weekly backups to a second internal hard drive using Windows backup. About 3 weeks ago the backup failed and produced the mentioned error code. The description of the error is misleading and makes you think that you have insufficient room on your backup drive. I subsequently replaced the drive with a larger one but the problem persisted. I then researched (including here) the error code and found "solutions" that were all over the map including some frankly worthless responses. The most frequently described cause is attributed to lack of space in a 100 MB "system reserved" partition on the boot drive. When I checked my drive this partition was not present. I had an OS partition, a Recovery partition, and a 16 MB unlabeled partition. I thought that perhaps the 16 MB partition was supposed to be the 100 MB partition and, because it was too small, was causing the backup problem. I then took my computer to Data Doctors.
