When I rip a CD and then rename a track (adding a date for example), when playing back that track with Windows Media Player or my MP3 player the display reverts back to the original (unmodified) name. Can anyone tell me why please and what can I do to get the modified lable to become visible ?
When searching in windows 7 libraries (in pictures, music etc) the results shown are only arranged in date modified clicking on drop down menu show all other choices (top results etc) greyed out Im using windows 7 build 7601 acer aspire 5332 4gb ram
The icons on my desktop suddenly were modifed with a tiny little rectangle that looks like a miniature desktop with little red, green and blue characters added to them. The recycle bin and my computer icons don't have this modification.
"date modified" field does not update when files are replaced in a zip folder while running Windows 7 64-bit.
Data files are stored in zip files and utilized daily. At the days end the files are replaced with the most current revision. The updated file displays the correct "date modified", however when the filed is transfered into the zip file, the "date modified" displayed within the zip file does not update.
I don't have this problem with Windows XP or 2000. Is there some hidden setting that is needed for Windows 7 to recognize file modification dates just as every version prior?
It becomes frustrating that Microsoft continues to add nice new fancy operating features, but yet continuously fails to ensure the basic functions are maintained.
Can Windows 7 Professional be modified to run as a domain controller and use Active Directory? If so please point the way to a tutorial if you know of one.
So whats the difference between installing a stock driver over a modified manufacture one cause my video driver is alittle outdated and i check on the website that a new one was release so should i uninstall that one and install the new one or just leave it as it be?
For some reason I have lost my Name, Date Modified, Type options at the top of my folders.I have gone thru every setting and can't seem to get them back.
I would [almost] swear that I used to be able to click on a file in Windows Explorer and then add or change it's details such as the dates. I may be "misremembering" but I think I could do it at the bottom of the Explorer screen or by rick-clicking, selecting properties and the Details tab.If it was ever true it is no longer so. I can't get any of the fields for a file, from Explorer or file properties/details, to open up for entry or modification. After looking at similar posts here, I went through the Take Ownership process just to make sure there were no security issues but that didn't make any difference.
In Windows 7, whenever I click on a shared folder, it immediately does something (thumbnail creation?) and changes the modified date. So if I select mulyiple folders, they all have their modified date changed to the same time. Is there a known way to stop this from happening? It's a little annoying right now.
I've got four sticky notes that I'm currently modifying. One of them, I deleted a large amount of text from it. When I turned my computer on today, the old version was there as well. I tried to delete it, but my computer is treating it like it's a part of the desktop background and not a note. Two of the other notes are doing the same thing. When I reopen the Sticky Notes gadget my newer versions open too, but on top of the others. I can't move the others, delete them, anything.
My laptop is less than a week old, with a 6GB RAM, 750GB hard drive, and 2.5GHz + Turbo processor, so I'm pretty sure it's not the problem. I just installed a new video editing software (Corel VideoStudio Pro X4)
when I turn on my computer after 6-8 plus hours of not using it, I get this message while the BIOS is booting but before Windows starts: Overclocking Failed! Please enter setup to re-configured your system. Press F1 to Run Setup.Press F2 to load default values and continue. Now I know how to simply fix this issue by resetting the BIOS and/or if necessary, temporary removing and replacing the jumper pin on the motherboard and/or if *really* necessary, temporary removal and replacement of the CMOS battery. For me, it works by simply resetting the BIOS.To let you know since this has been happening, I have increased my RAM to 8GB. I had to make some changes to my BIOS like slight voltages increases in DRAM and the motherboard's northbridge and the memory module timings modified. I saved these BIOS changes (as a BIOS profile) to stabilize my 8GB of RAM which seems to work great -- stability issues solved. What actually happens is that one the *very first* BIOS booting when powering up my computer, the BIOS does not boot and without the beep from the motherboard's POST BIOS test. My monitor is black while, yet the tower LED shows it is running. I can hear the fan in the tower running fine. I have to manually restart the computer from the reset button and then on the second BIOS boot, the BIOS loads fine, followed by this "Overclocking Failed!" issue just before Windows can load. After another computer reboot and my resetting of the BIOS, followed by yet another computer reboot, the BIOS and Windows operating system loads fine and I am on my way.
Now *this is a pain in the butt* each morning after the system has been off for awhile or when my computer has not been running for 6-8 hours!!! The computer SHOULD NOT have to go through this!!! This whole sequence of events (4 computer boots) in the last paragraph does not happen if the time duration since my computer was not running is short since I last used my computer -- the computer boots and runs completely fine.Any ideas so I can keep the modified BIOS profile so my computer runs stable and not have this whole sequence of events happen -- so BIOS can load without any issues? Some basic general stats of my system:
- Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit. - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 -- Yorkfield 2.83 GHz 1333 MHz processor. - ASUS P5Q desktop motherboard. - 8 GB of Corsair XMS2 4x2 GB DDR2 RAM. - XFX Radeon HD5670 Graphics Card.
How do I get back the original time of date modified? I need them the date modified to be restored immediately.if this cant be done in a snap or soon as all my office files(doc, xls) are in a folder and all are showing the same date!
What type of ways are there to change a modified file date without a human being involved with the computer?I'm trying to prove that I didn't change a file on the computer. Could Windows 7, an application on the computer, and application in the cloud with access to the computer (ie Dropbox or QuickBooks, etc) or Norton Security Software change a Modifed date without me touching the computer?
It seems that Windows likes to modify my jpg files!! Modified date and filesize seems to change on its own, perhaps something to do with the thumbnail view in Explorer.

The Basics:While I was beginning to install and manually offline-update various anti-malware tools so that I could begin to determine what I needed to do to get this thing clean and properly operable, I noticed while looking at Programs and Features that many of the install dates for various software were dated in various months in 2013. My installations were 1 year, 2 days ahead of the current date. Windows Explorer shows this to be consistent throughout the files and folders installed.
Looking at the install dates for some of the HP proprietary software/bloatware, I can tell this behavior started some point after the computer was purchased and used (the bloatware installation date was one day after the warranty start date listed in the BIOS). I am presuming dates on files and folders created, modified, or accessed from the point of the initial occurrence of what caused these particular incorrect future timestamps are the only ones affected.
The clock and date were wrong by the exact amount forward as were the install dates for the files I installed, so, as expected, the files were taking their timestamp from the computer's time. I assume whenever the computer date and time were maladjusted is when the problem started. I fixed the time and date, but the files and folders did not adjust their timestamps, again as expected.
1. Are there any particular problems I am not considering which could be caused by the incorrect dates, other than some particular searching and arrangement issues, which in this case I think would be superficial? This type of date information is just descriptive metadata for files and folders, correct?
2. Is there any way to fix this? I cannot think of any, but maybe there is something I am missing, hashing it out in my mind. If the BIOS clock and the Windows date and time settings were separate and the date metadata were generated based on a timer referencing the BIOS clock, then I could see a way to repair this. But, at least on this notebook, a change in one is reflected in the other--I think this is how Windows OSes operate in general. Anyway, any ideas?
3. Finally, after I finish cleaning and repairing the notebook, is there any way to globally reset all of the date metadata on all files/folders to reflect the present? So long as having incorrect future timestamps does not affect operation, then this is superficial, but it is irrationally driving me crazy. If it were my computer, I could not stand it--barely can stand it as it is. I have found a program that lets you reset all of the dates of all files in a folder, or the dates of all folders visible when opening a directory or subdirectory, but not both simultaneously, and so of course not anything that would change the dates of all the files and folders nested within one another from root.
I have a modified Hp vp17 desktop, that has had an upgrade rebuild including replacing the motherboard etc.I am not very good at explaining the system info. but here goes; The CPU is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz.The OS is Windows 7- 32 bit.RAM is 3.00GB.I am currently using a Wireless Logitec S520 keyboard and mouse however the key labelling is coming off, which doesn't help other members of my family who are not touch typing familiar.I am looking to replace the Logitech keyboard and mouse to a compatible HP Wireless keyboard and mouse or Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse combo but don't really know what to look for?
One directory (Directory A) containing the same files as Directory B but with the wrong Date created / modified attributes.how to make all the files in Directory A have the same date created/modified attributes as Directory B.
I have a Dell XPS L702X running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, within the explorer window there is a link on the left for Libraries but when you click on it there are no libraries displayed, the window is empty. The Libraries do exist as you can see them in the 'Include in library' dropdown.Ive looked around and i have seen that this is an issue for 64 bit but i have no idea of how to get them to appear.
I was recently trying to enable the "No GUI boot" option in the Boot tab of the System Configuration simply because I was tired of waiting for that stupid logo to load before getting into my computer. I figured this was easy enough. Well, I went into the Boot tab and I was unable to click any of the options. I soon realized that this was because I had no OS visible in little white sub-window. I thought this was pretty shocking, it's supposed to say "Windows 7(C:Windows) : Current OS; Default OS" for me since I'm running Win 7 (64 if it matters). I've looked into the issue quite a bit, but almost everyone with this problem seems to have a much more serious problem of not even being able to boot at all. This same research has led me to think that it's something with my bootloader. I've tried running EasyBCD, but it tells me "There are a total of 0 entries listed in the bootloader". If, from inside EasyBCD, I try to go to Tools->Edit Legacy Entries it tells me:"Boot.ini is located on the hidden boot partition and cannot be loaded for user editing by EasyBCD. Please either assign a drive letter to the hidden boot partition or use the Windows XP dual-boot auto-configuration feature instead." I've also tried a second method, which was to boot from my Windows 7 install disc and get to the command prompt and type in (in order): "bootrec /FixMbr", "bootrec /FixBoot", "bootrec /RebuildBcd". The first two commands were successful, and although the last command returned successful, it tells me "Total identified Windows installations: 0".
I guess I should start by saying I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x86.I got a pair of LG HBS700 Bluetooth Headphones for Christmas and couldn't wait to pair them up to my Windows 7 Home Theater PC so I could watch movies after my wife has gone to bed w/o disturbing her.My first problem was I had no bluetooth adapter for the HTPC so I went and purchased a Targus Bluetooth 4.0 Bluetooth Adapter.Thought I had it all squared away. I installed the latest drivers for the Bluetooth Adapter I had purchased and was on my merry way.Went to the control panel, choose to add a bluetooth device after putting the headset in pairing mode and much to my dismay, Windows 7 can't seem to find the headset... I know the head set works because I'm able to pair it with my cell phone.
Using windows 7 64bit home premium, have tried two different adapters- A-link WNU(M) USB adapter- ASUS PCE-N15 PCI-e adapterBoth of them seem so install correctly, no errors during install. Device manager shows them working correctly, but......there are no networks visible to connect. At the same time my laptop (win7 64bit business premium or something) sees and can connect to networks. Have tried both of those adapters in XP in same computer, and there they work correctly, and show plenty of networks. 2 of mine, and many more from neighbours. Phone also can connect...so networks really exist. I have installed latest drivers from manufacturers sitesif I try manually setup connect to wireless network, get error..."an unexpected error occurs"Trouble shooting wireless network gives:"There might be a problem with the driver for the wireless..."But when I try to resolve the issue:"The wireless network adapter is experiencing problems"Also updating driver "windows style" says that driver is up to date. And it does exactly the same with 2 wireless adapters......dont think I need to try 3rd. Atleast ASUS PCE-N15 shold be win7 64bit compatible
I'm having a problem with my Desktop icons. All standard Windows 7 icons are completely visible, but after I install any software, new icons are only half visible.
I have a program for which I need to save project data within its Program Files location in order for it to be displayed in the program.I can drag-drop files into that folder, load the program and see the files where they should be ...but then when I go to that folder through Windows Explorer, it appears empty.
My son has an account on my one PC for gaming I noticed recently that by going through C:/user/etc I can access his private folders while signed into my account. He can access my folders through his account. I was under the impression that this shouldn't be possible. Did I miss a setting somewhere? Can this be disabled to ensure privacy?
i have just created a second user on my laptop for my partner as im sick of having to re do my iTunes library every time she wants her iPod updating (we like different music).Google chrome is not visible neither are any of my music/pics or films that are on my main user profile. I have tried doing a google search to find a solution but can not make head nor tails of it
In the Library view of Windows Media Player, there are column headings such as 'Album', 'Title', 'Length', etc.. If you right click on that bar, select Choose Columns.. then scroll down in that widget and select 'Subgenre' ...
Now you have an extra column in the Library view with this name.
Question : What (3rd party probably) tag editor for FLAC audio files do you recommend that would allow me to edit my FLAC files such that I could populate this specific field?
I tried it in Foobar2000 on my Vista laptop and it was so easy. I tried on my Win 7 laptop and it doesn't work at all. When I'm done using Foobar, I open WMP and open the FLAC file in there, but the Subgenre column remains empty (unlike on my Vista laptop).
If you already use the popular ones such as mp3tag, etc.. I would love to know if this works for you on Win 7 and the steps I need to take using the editor tool in the app. to get it to work.
