installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my computer would completely freeze up. At completing install.
1.tried upgrade
2. tried clean install nothing plug into usb ports only plug in are keyboard and mouse still freezes on last part of Installation.

So no specifi thing sets it off.Cant alt-cnt-delete.Its like a screen shot of my computer and watching a picture. Cant even move the mouse.My keyboard can change colours via buttons on it (logitech g110). I cant even change the colours coz its like the whole pc is in a time freeze..Due to this i dont get an "windows had an unexpected error" message when i restart the computer...
i finally got my new rig up and running. Install was a breeze and everything seemed to work like it should. I go to the Microsoft Update page and download all the security patches. When the computer needs to be restarted to finish the installation, it hangs up and just sits there until I restart the computer. Just curious if anyone has had this issue and if there was a solution. It is annoying to have a brand new setup with a OS that freezes quite often. And wtf happened to Paint? They ruined it.

Starting to think that buying a new motherboard is the only solution for running win 7
When using Merlin X950D 3G on the Rogers network in Ontario Canada with Windows 7 64-bit the computer freezes. It worked with no problems in Vista 64-bit. It does not always freeze right away but eventually it does freeze. When using the laptop without the 3G adapter connected to WiFi instead the computer runs fine and does not freeze after hours of use.
When installing Windows 7 I did a clean full install and not the upgrade option.
I wiped my hard drive and now when I tried to reinstall windows 7, it keep freezing on |completing installation" I reformated my hard drive before doing it. If my computer ed or do I need to just wait it out?

I looked at the logs but didn't see any errors. All my systems are custom built using Vista ultimate OEM additions.I was successful installing the software as a new install.I updated all the drivers.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a geforce galaxy gts 250 512mb and in linux/xp 32bit it loads games fine, but in Windows 7 64bit (havent tried 32bit Windows 7)my whole computer just turns black when i try to play. no sound, no response from the normal ctl alt dlt, not even a numlock response. takes a manual restart to get going again. i have tried the drivers that came with the cd, ones that galaxy officially supports, and the nvidia official drivers. Could it be this card isnt supported very well in 64bit Windows 7 yet? Or could I possibly need a new psu?
View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday I bought a new hard drive. I went from a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB to a Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB. So, same family of HDDs. I put in a burned Windows 7 install disc, and the process went okay until after the computer restarted and moved on to 'Completing Installation'. It just sits there. It doesn't freeze - I can move the mouse and there are three little dots after 'Completing Installation' that continue animating. I can also click the red X at the top-right but it says installation cannot be canceled at that point, which makes sense.I first let it sit on 'Completing Installation' for two hours. Then I turned my computer off, unplugged everything except for my mouse and keyboard, formatted the drive to get rid of any bad data, and tried again. After three hours of 'Completing Installation', I removed my video card, all but one stick of RAM, and entered the BIOS to see if there were any options relating to my hard drive. The only options I found were the options to choose a hard drive - I only have the one - and a couple of Plug and Play options. I restarted setup again, formatted again, and started the process over. Then I went to bed.
This morning, seven hours later, it was still sitting at 'Completing Installation'. I tried taking the install disc out to see if the install would stop or throw up an error, but it didn't make a peep. I took the install disc to my other computer to copy the data to a folder on the desktop, to see if there was an error. Everything copied fine. Plus, when I burned the DVD, I burned it at the lowest possible speed and had the program verify it. Everything came up fine.One thing I'll mention - when I start setup, I'm given an option to install a driver. I decided to choose that option just to see if it might provide any clarity. It then showed me the contents of my hard drive. Program Files was in there, My Documents was in there. So setup is doing something, it's just not finishing for some reason.
So I have searched around and none of the solutions worked, but let me get to the basics:

Okay so I am running a fresh, clean install (the only "information" is on the IDE drive, and that's my backup for iTunes and Steam) using the Windows 7 Ultimate DVD. The DVD kept hanging @ "completing installation", so I took it to my laptop, and using the instructions on here, made a bootable flash drive.I just tried completing installation from the bootable flash, and it still hangs at that step.When it hangs, it's in a locked up state.. I can't even press Shift + F10 (nothing happens). Also, the CD correctly makes the "System Allocated" section on the drive. Also, i removed all USB drives, and am running both a PS/2 mouse and keyboard.
I seem to be having an issue doing a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 Enterprise on a 40GB Intel 320 series SSD. I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32
Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB)
Now I would like to go from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit
When I try and run the Windows 7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only".
I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over.
I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.
First off this is a newly built computer, all fresh components. aftercleaning/activating the hdd via shift +f10 at Windows 7 setup,(which took me a day to figure out) i was very excited to see my hdd available for Windows 7 installation. as i proceed windows does its thing, after installing its time for the first restart. it restarts right back to the initial windows 7 setup ive done a lot of research, and majority of the problems seem to be the boot priority in bios. so i made sure that it was usb-hdd, then hard drive. (Windows 7 on flash drive for me, no dvd burner available). still the same thing, right back to initial setup. i tried maybe to remove the flash drive during the 10 second countdown to restart, but when it restarts, the windows splash screen comes up and then blue screens and restarts real quick. cant see what the error is on bsodthere have been a couple different start up issues, "windows did not start properly" "select version of windows to start from" (or something to that effect.) but its all the same outcome. windows 7 just wont finish installation
View 3 Replies View RelatedI ordered a Windows 7 Home Premium Family pack about 2 months ago and it arrived last week. While I wasn't expecting it until October 22, I figured "why look a gift horse in the mouth". However, when I try to install it I hit a problem. I had Vista Ultimate installed and attempted an upgrade. Everything went fine until I got to the "Completing Installation" part. At this point the installation just stops. I've left it sitting here for over 8 hours with no results. I have tried doing a clean install, deleting and formatting the previous Windows drive, and always the same thing happens. There is no error message, it just stops. When I do a hard shutdown and reboot, I get the message that the computer experienced an unexpected shutdown and to reboot my computer. I get the same message when I reboot. I called MS who told me that support will not be available until 10/22.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was successfully running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my machine as it was with a AMD Athlon dual core processor, on my MSI 770T-C45 motherboard.I purchased and installed a AMD Phenom II X6 1055t which IS supported by this motherboard (after bios flash).
I flashed the bios using the correct procedures, and any time i wold log into windows i would get BSOD and the message "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" and also down below "rushtop64.sys" something... i would post the dump, but i have since formatted.I couldnt solve that issue, the computer would run fine in safe mode.i had not changed any other hardware. I googled for ages, and saw that if i was to change processor to more cores, that i should re format and reinstall windows.I got my windows disk, tried to do a clean install. Once it "completing install" and restarts, all i get is a blank black screen with the ( _ ) cursor type thing flashing in the top left of the screen and the computer freezes.
I formatted my hard drive to reinstall windows and for some reason when I reboot the computer after installing from the DVD it won't go further than a black screen...
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night I was upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 via download off of the microsoft site (so I do NOT have a startup disc). As the computer was in the middle of a restart, I lost power during a storm last night.Now when I turn the computer on, it gets past the "Starting Windows" screen and to the point where I can see a default desktop image, but I never actually see the desktop. Instead of seeing the taskbar or any shortcuts, it just brings up a DOS prompt and I have no idea what to do from there or how to get it to restart the install or pick up where it left off.
I'm at a friends house posting this, so I don't have all my computer specs, but I know it is completely Windows 7-compatible.
Back in October my wife's machine had a malware infecion (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic423457.html). After much work by Gringo and me, the machine was declared clean. However, even at that time the Service Pack install would not complete. It would churn and try to install and reboot and certainly act like all was well and completing, but eventually it would say something like "Service Pack failed. Resorting to previous cnfiguration". With the holidays approaching, solving this issue was pushed to the back burner. Now that I have some time, I'd like to get the machine fully updated.
View 2 Replies View Relatedfinally after i got win7 to recognize my hdd, i thought i was home free. nope. now when i install 7, it goes thru the setups and file copying and all that, but once it hits the first reboot, it goes back to the initial "install now" i realized that maybe the boot order needed to be changed, so i did that, but going that route will cause a blue screen, and back to a restart.
1 time, and im not sure how, i managed to get to the final step before it was 100% done. but i cant figure out how to get there.
right now, i booted from the flash drive (my windows 7 installtion) and it now appears to be frozen on the starting windows screen.
Trying to install Windows 7 and get hung up after clicking the "Install" button on boot-up using DVD. It loads for a bit, then tells me a CD/DVD Driver is required and can't be found. I've tried using the WindowsSystem32Drivers directory but it says no drivers can be found. I had to get the iso from a bit torrent; could it be I've got a 64 bit install disc and only 32 bit drivers? Maybe that's a dumb question but I'm trying to figure out why I can load the install up to that point from the DVD but it won't locate drivers.

The issue I'm having is everything seems fine till the first reboot, then I get errors about some random important file is missing or corrupt, please insert your DVD and repair windows or whatever the hell it says. The specified missing file is always different each install attempt (I have made about 30ish attemps so far in every drive configuration I could think of). Once it even said 'a system file' is missing or corrupt with no file specified. One attempt (120gb drives in raid0 with no other drives attached) did make it to the Windows 7 load screen, but then windows encountered an 'unknown error' and had to close while finalizing.
What I wanted to do was raid0 the 60's for boot and raid0 the 120's for games, but I can't do that because while this mb has 4 sata3 ports, only 2 ports are raid capable (Intel C600 controller) as the other 2 are on an ASMedia controller. As that is the least of my problems and only my fault for making assumptions before I buy crap, what I thought to do instead was install win on one 60 on the ASMedia sata3 controller in AHCI with OPROM enabled, use the other 60 for task file, and raid0 the 120's for game installs. At first I thought the problem was bad drives because it installs fine on my old HDDs, but all 4 drives DOA seems unlikely so I figure I'm doing something wrong.
There are multiple posts about issues with these drives on Corsair forums, however none of their solutions provide a fix. Currently I have Windows 7 installed on 2 seagate 160gb HDD's in raid0 on sata2 with both 60's on sata3 ASMedia and both 120's in raid0 on sata3 Intel C600 controller. I am convinced there is no problem with any drive as I have multiple games installed on the raid0 with task file on 1 60 and the other 60 is dedicated to ready boost. Honestly I have no idea what ready boost does, and with 32gb of ram it probably doesnt do much - but I can't think of anything else to do with the drive to see if I get any system hangs or issues.
After a week in this configuration I have had no issues whatsoever. I have run error checking from the properties tab in win for all drives, as well as chkdsk from command prompt and the disk checking utility in partedmagic which all came back no problems found. ATTO benchmark shows the the 60's around 475mb/s read/write and the 120's in raid0 are about 1100mb/s read/write. These SSD's are lightning fast. My HDD's are not - 275mb/s read/write in raid0 . Must needs faster boot.
I have tried installing win on each drive individually on each controller twice (16 attempts) and tried each set in raid0 a few times. Every attempt started out with a partition deletion and a secure erase using partedmagic AND sata3 controller in AHCI mode per Corsair forums. I have done Corsair's 1.3.3 firmware update to each drive. I have tried letting windows partition/format each drive during the install. I tried booting from my HDD's, then creating partition tables, allocating sapce, and formatting the SSD's from disk management, then installing win on the drives already setup. And a few other various things in different orders.
My steps for the 1 result that yeilded and actual Windows 7 loading screen after 1st reboot:
- 2 120gb ssd's on Intel C600 sata3
- Enter bios - change sata from raid to ahci - exit
-Boot with partedmagic bootdisk - deleted partitions both drives - system suspend for drive reset - secure erase both drives - shutdown
- Plugged in 2 160gb hdd to sata2
- Enter bios - change sata from ahci to raid - exit
- Enter raid setup utility - create raid0 on 120gb ssd's with 32kb strip - exit
- Boot win from hdd - create MBR partition table, allocate all avail space, format NTFS (not quick format) - shutdown
- Unplugged 2 160gb hdd
- Boot from Windows 7 install disk - install to SSD raid volume - 1st reboot yeilds load screen then 'unknown error', but I guess it was some-what better than windows failed to start due to whatever random file missing or corrupt.
i was having problems with my pc and did a complete reinstall windows 7 after install up dates take place after install restart pc freezes to get going again i have to restore and loose all my updates does that sound as if this question is from a pc expert.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI put together a new system last night and proceeded to install Win 7 64-bit and all was well. It's a legit retail copy of the Win 7 upgrade disk bought from Amazon. After a handful of restarts (Windows updates, driver updates, etc) the computer decided to freeze at the Windows welcome screen (black screen w/Windows logo). I tried booting in safe mode and had no issues. I tried reverting to a previous save state prior to the freeze issues, but that didn't change anything. Safe mode continued to work.
I decided to attempt re-installing. Now I can't even get a working install. Windows 7 installs and then restarts. I get the welcome screen and then it goes to a screen where it's starting services, but then it just freezes. I've tried installing multiple times with the same results. My mouse and keyboard light up and work in the bios screen but once i get to the windows install screen that asks me to pick a time zone my mouse and keyboard freeze and thier lights turn off. I checked my bios to see if legacy was enabled which it is. I have a brand new comp and i cant use it. I have an asus p9x79 motherboard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust built a brand spanking new rig (specs below), and I installed windows 7 onto my SSD (No Problem!) and proceeded to install drivers, format my extra drive and start installing other software and etc. Then randomly I would get a blue screen telling me some sort of data dump message and the system would reboot normally. This persisted and I booted in safe mode a few times no problem. This morning I tried to boot and Windows 7 froze on the "starting Windows" screen, no colored orbs here. Since then I have attempted to reinstall windows onto my SSD(same freezing issue even after waiting over 40 min.), install windows on my hdd(same issue) and boot without various components(video card, cd drive etc) to no avail. I also flashed the latest BIOS via USB and have attempted boots w/o usb, intel smart connect and rapid start, and other possible solutions.

View 1 Replies View RelatedInitial symptoms began when I decided to give Win 8 a try. Immediately after the Windows 8 install my system would become unresponsive/freeze, but never had a BSOD. Mouse was still functional but unable to actually do anything. Forced me to power cycle the PC. I ran memory diagnostics and attempted to use the repair options built into the OS, but no resolution.After trying to fix the Windows 8 freezing I decided to go back to Win-7 HP 64Bit. I performed a clean install keeping only personal files and the windows.old old folder. With the new install I ran all the needed updates in Update manager and updated all the drivers as needed. For the first couple days all was well and then the OS would freeze/hang/become unresponsive... required power cycling to reboot. As of late, the system would boot to log-in screen but would either freeze when I typed a character or moved the mouse. Other times it would hang after entering my password and never load the desktop. There have been times when I couldn't even boot to safe mode[with networking] or [cmd].
So today is throwing me for a loop because I am on the affected computer and all seems to be operating perfect.I am at a loss for understanding, why be broke for 1.5 - 2 weeks and now suddenly work like a charm?I ran SFC and have errors that cannot be fixed automatically. Event viewer has a lot of friendly red icons and a few more mellow yellows. So I am asking for help in resolving the issues that exist with my OS, hoping to learn and avoid installing the Backup image i have from late last year.
I have installed some software with "Freeze" , so it has asked it is applicable only xp and vista and it has given a option saying that install with proper settings by online(because i m using windows 7 OS).after that it has asked that restart is required, then it continuosly restarting.After getting the windows loading screen it is booting again.
