I have installed some software with "Freeze" , so it has asked it is applicable only xp and vista and it has given a option saying that install with proper settings by online(because i m using windows 7 OS).after that it has asked that restart is required, then it continuosly restarting.After getting the windows loading screen it is booting again.

When I try to boot it gets stuck at the windows 7 loading screen with the Windows logo blinking like usual loading. Tried leaving it on for 30 minutes, nothing happened. Safe mode gets to the loading windows files part and freezes there.First I attempted to use the System Recovery CD it kept on till the loading screen then freezed just like the OS boot. Same thing with installation disk.I don't know how they work, if one or them are the primary stick or whatever. I tried swapping them, still same problem.Hard disk works just fine connected to my other computer as slave.

So nothing is wrong with my RAM or hard drive?Today, Saturday, I transferred the stuff worth keeping on this disk, and reformatted it. Still same problem when I boot the installation CD!
Per microsoft I need to do try a repair install from original disk. Is there a difference between running repair install from Windows or booting from original disk then selecting upgrade install? Is one or the other preferred? Directions say both attempt to preserve installed programs, but not all drivers, and both require reinstalling all the 60 or so windows updates released after my disk. so no differences there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI put together a new system last night and proceeded to install Win 7 64-bit and all was well. It's a legit retail copy of the Win 7 upgrade disk bought from Amazon. After a handful of restarts (Windows updates, driver updates, etc) the computer decided to freeze at the Windows welcome screen (black screen w/Windows logo). I tried booting in safe mode and had no issues. I tried reverting to a previous save state prior to the freeze issues, but that didn't change anything. Safe mode continued to work.
I decided to attempt re-installing. Now I can't even get a working install. Windows 7 installs and then restarts. I get the welcome screen and then it goes to a screen where it's starting services, but then it just freezes. I've tried installing multiple times with the same results. View 1 Replies View RelatedJust built a brand spanking new rig (specs below), and I installed windows 7 onto my SSD (No Problem!) and proceeded to install drivers, format my extra drive and start installing other software and etc. Then randomly I would get a blue screen telling me some sort of data dump message and the system would reboot normally. This persisted and I booted in safe mode a few times no problem. This morning I tried to boot and Windows 7 froze on the "starting Windows" screen, no colored orbs here. Since then I have attempted to reinstall windows onto my SSD(same freezing issue even after waiting over 40 min.), install windows on my hdd(same issue) and boot without various components(video card, cd drive etc) to no avail. I also flashed the latest BIOS via USB and have attempted boots w/o usb, intel smart connect and rapid start, and other possible solutions.

Initial symptoms began when I decided to give Win 8 a try. Immediately after the Windows 8 install my system would become unresponsive/freeze, but never had a BSOD. Mouse was still functional but unable to actually do anything. Forced me to power cycle the PC. I ran memory diagnostics and attempted to use the repair options built into the OS, but no resolution.After trying to fix the Windows 8 freezing I decided to go back to Win-7 HP 64Bit. I performed a clean install keeping only personal files and the windows.old old folder. With the new install I ran all the needed updates in Update manager and updated all the drivers as needed. For the first couple days all was well and then the OS would freeze/hang/become unresponsive... required power cycling to reboot. As of late, the system would boot to log-in screen but would either freeze when I typed a character or moved the mouse. Other times it would hang after entering my password and never load the desktop. There have been times when I couldn't even boot to safe mode[with networking] or [cmd].
So today is throwing me for a loop because I am on the affected computer and all seems to be operating perfect.I am at a loss for understanding, why be broke for 1.5 - 2 weeks and now suddenly work like a charm?I ran SFC and have errors that cannot be fixed automatically. Event viewer has a lot of friendly red icons and a few more mellow yellows. So I am asking for help in resolving the issues that exist with my OS, hoping to learn and avoid installing the Backup image i have from late last year.
I have a vaio (svs15125cxb) that comes with win 8 installed. I would really like to go back to my w7 x64 but I can't. I disable safe boot, and then when windows 7 gets to the startup screen it freezes. I removed external hardware and tried different ways with no success.

I have recently done a fresh install and ever since then I'm getting random screen freezes (it never happened before fresh install)... the mouse, keys, ctrl alt delete etc.wont respond and the only way out is to hold down power and restart.I thought it could be a RAM problem but I have checked with memtest with no problems found. I have also scanned with malwarbytes antimalware with nothing found.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble installing windows on a new rig I just built. I'm not sure if its a driver error or maybe some other hardware error I'm overlooking. Here's the problem I'm encountering. I've tried to install 3 different windows. Windows 7 64bit(burned), Windows 7 32bit (burned), Windows Vista OEM. Upon the fresh install my computer goes to the "Loading files from disk" than will try to boot up to the install. When the boot up screen comes on with the horizontal bar it freezes after about 10-15 seconds, then nothing.I have 3 hard drives I've tried to install every copy on (2 SATA HDDs, and a SSD). Same symptom. My old HDD with windows still on it, I tried to boot it up and it still freezes(shouldn't boot up anyway right?). When I try to load safemode on the HDD with windows on it, I am able to. I tried installing the Vista copy through this method and it is successful until the PC reboots during the install and freezes back up bootup. This made me think it was a driver error.
I also mistakenly tried installing windows with no HDD's attached to the motherboard.. That also made it to the bootup screen, but froze(duh) at the bootup screen too. So from that mistaken test, could this be a hardware issue if its freezing at the same spot with and without the HDD? [code]I've also tried removing the video card and using the onboard video, leaving only one stick of ram in, and I've swapped ram from another PC to test(can't remember the model ram). I haven't tried swapping the dvd drive yet. I've read places that a heatsink could be causing this problem, but if I can get into safe mode on an old windows install could it be hardware such as the heatsink/cpu, or just drivers?
i Did a clean install of windows XP to remove a virus and Basically to clean up the drive. I had windows 7 Pre-installed so it was a Dual- Boot. NOW, when ever i start PC,Windows XP automatically Boots up and i don't have any Option to boot windows 7.I tried hitting F8 but there is only XP as the OS, and no windows 7.STRANGE since windows 7 is still in my PC and i have its files on the windows 7 drive. View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm doing an upgrade from 32 bit XP to 32 bit Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 8300 desktop. I've run the upgrade advisor. The desktop has 2 hard drives and a RAID controller configured in Stripe(RAID 0). I bought the Windows 7 Home Premium family pack (3 installs) and did the XP to Windows 7upgrade on two laptops; so I think the disk is okay. When I start the upgrade for a clean install on the desktop I get a "f1 to retry boot f2 for setup" message from the BIOS indicating that it does not seem to recognize the Windows 7 install disk in the CD. I've check the CD reader and it seems to read the files without a problem. I can start the Windows 7 install within XP but that does not work for the clean install, I need to start from the boot. There is a second DVD ROM drive on the system but that does not work either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRandomly, my computer is no longer able to boot from my OCZ Agility 3 SSD. By randomly, I mean it was working just fine this morning, but no longer. I can't remember if I changed or updated anything.
Well I then went and inserted the Windows 7 repair disk. A list pops up saying to select my OS, but nothing is listed. I selected load drivers, and I'm able to navigate to the ssd successfully and view all of the files. I even plugged it in to the computer I am using now and was able to back up the more important documents in case I will need to do a reinstall. (I would rather not though).The repair utility doesn't fix the problem, and I navigated this forum and many others trying to find similar problems to mine.

I have built a new computer and am currently tryin to install windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. My mouse and keyboard light up and work in the bios screen but once i get to the windows install screen that asks me to pick a time zone my mouse and keyboard freeze and thier lights turn off. I checked my bios to see if legacy was enabled which it is. I have a brand new comp and i cant use it. I have an asus p9x79 motherboard.

After working flawlessly for a couple of years my hibernation now doesn't work: when I choose it, the screen goes blank and there is some hard drive activity but then it stops and just returns me to the screen I was on. Sleep still works perfectly.Two things happened before this: I installed a backup program called ShadowProtect (since uninstalled) and I had a couple of PC freezes due to a bad piece of software, which meant I had to a hard reboot.I ran Chkdsk at bootup to make sure the drive was all OK, which it was. I've also disabled and then re-enabled hibernation. I've looked at Event Viewer but I can't find any actual errors, and am not familiar with the program.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo my harddrive crashed on Thursday unfortunately right after I downloaded the student upgrade (Premium). Luckily, I did burn all 3 of the downloaded files to a data dvd disc (I didn't know how to make an .iso at the time), so I have not lost them.
My question is, when I reinstall Vista on my new harddrive and then move the 3 windows 7 files to my desktop, will doing a clean install from inside windows be as efficient as if I made an .iso into a DVD and then booted from that DVD after restarting?
I know in the past when I have restarted the computer and booted from a DVD that it has given me the option to format the drive etc, but will doing a clean install from inside Windows erase just as much old vista junk?

On my system, I have Linux Mint as my primary OS with XP for gaming. Is it possible to install 7 to a custom location so it doesn't overwrite the existing installs?
My Win7 HP x64 PC has two hard drives, each partitioned into two volumes:
My C: and E: drives are each half of a 200GB drive, both NTFS.
My D: and F: drives are each half of a newer, 1TB drive, both NTFS.
My F: drive has around 400GB of 'stuff' that I want to preserve.
I've been trying to migrate the win7 installation from C: to the first partition of the 1TB drive with two different tools (Norton Ghost and the built-in Windows backup utility) and both fail identically.The backup procedure itself appears to work in both cases.Restoring the backup to the first partition of the 1TB drive "works" in so much as I don't get any errors either way.Creating the requisite boot structures also work, as the O/S appears to be bootable.However, when the restored O/S makes it to the login screen, two flaws are evident:
1. The keyboard absolutely does not work.
2. If I log in on an account that doesn't need a keyboard (no password), I see "Loading desktop", then a few seconds "Logging out" and I'm back at the login screen.
If I look at the event viewer logs (booting up with the O/S on the smaller drive), I see numerous events like this:"The AVGIDSAgent service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.""The Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified."

I entered the CD and then it automatically booted, and then it went through the usual setup routine and the problem started when it reached the part where I'm supposed to choose where to install Windows.I formatted Local Disk "C" and then chose it to install there, it then said: This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.I then shut down the PC and then re-booted it, it read the CD and then went to "Windows is loading files" then skipped the installation and went for the normal "Starting Windows"... It's weird because I don't have a "C" so how come it says that without having windows? Anyway, it passes this screen and suddenly it just glows in multi colors until I have to shut it down myself. Trying again gave the same response (Which means I can't access the install screen. All what I have is the BIOS menu)There is no way I can return the CD at the moment, and I lost the previous Windows disk...

I am on a 640 GB western digital HDD running Windows 7 Professional.
The symptom is that the computer RANDOMLY - no pattern to the freezing whatsoever- freezes. During this time, whatever sound was playing will stutter for a while, the screen will remain frozen with the image that was last on it. Their is no keyboard response, numlock etc... or mouse response.
Upon restarting, the event log has no recollection of what caused the issue. I have checked,many, many times, over the course of 3 weeks now. The only error it contains is the one stating that the computer unexpectedly shut down. Nothing else is pertinent.
I have all the latest drivers, for everything, BIOS updates, etc... as well as windows updates.
On top of that, i have reformatted my computer, and the problem still persists, but here's the kicker:
On a secondary drive, running windows XP professional 64 bit, the computer works just fine, never freezes at all, so i doubt its any hardware component, i have left it on for days to test this, and it still functions properly.

I am doing a clean install, Windows 7 from XP.Like many here I can get to the completing installation point before the installation freezes.It seems to be going well then it re-boots, at this point the display is a smaller format and the cusor freezes and the installation haults.I suspect that the graphics card might be the problem, GenForce 9800GTX.

I have the Windows 7 Pro 64-bit DVD that I purchased at student pricing.My motherboard posts, and I can go into bios without any problems at all. Even my ram, which I only have 1 stick installed, is good. But when I pop in the Win7 DVD, it goes through the bars, then freezes at the animated logo with Starting Windows.

I have literally tried everything but just do not understand why i Have A complete Freeze at Random Times( This freeze will have everything on the screen completely frozen and the mouse will move for maybe five seconds before also freezing.) Windows 7 Runs Good in Safe Mode So it has to be a driver is what i am thinking but i have no idea which one. I have updated the Display Driver numerous times. I tried Running the Display Driver that is there after the clean install, Which it froze still, I downloaded from Windows update, it Froze, I updated from Ati, It also froze. Like i said before I have also have ran in a virtual environment where it ran problem free with no freezes. I am completely stumped on this one. I have even look at the event viewer nothing really stands out before the critical Kernal Power error.
I have also tried a registry cleaner and cleaned the registry that was the last thing i tried and still froze moments later also. I read on other forums that it could be the wireless but i have disabled the wireless device as i dont even use the wireless. My computer is a Homebuilt computer ASuS motherboard, AMD Quadcore, ATI Radeon 4800 series... I am positve it cannot be the RAM or anything like that because I run Vista Home Premium x64 flawlessly and have since i downloaded it. So I know It got to be some kind of compatibility issue i just have no idea where to start.
