View 5 Replies View RelatedOk, I have my WD 160GB Vraptor partition and dual booting Vista & Win 7 ultimate x64. Disk 0
My 750GB Samsung used to be my old XP + Vista dual booting and it is partitioned as such. Disk 1
I have finished transfering all the pertinent data to my USB WD 320Gb Passport so now I want to format the whole drive and leave it as Back-Up for Data, Videos & Music + the ocassional game that doesn't fit on my Primary drive.
Here's the kicker, I am new to Vista & 7, if I remember correctly, in XP I used to go to Disk managment, select the disk and tell it to format it and it was done (I never did this often so I could be confused).
At any rate, the choices I get with Win 7 are:
If I right click on Disk 1, my only choices are, Convert to Dynamic Disk or Offline Right clicking on either of the other Disk 1 partitions gives me more choices. Format, Shrink or Delete volume My issue is that I do not want to have 2 more partitions but a full drive. I am sure that one of those options is the one I may need but I just don't know which one to choose and I really hate to work twice (if not more) to get to where I want to go.
any help tips or directions you guy may want to throw my way?
P.S.: I think I am over thiking this and as soon as I delete the volume, the partitions will go away and I am going to end where I want but I just like to be sure.
Can I format my laptop without deleting the drivers?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a define behavior or a known bug, in any case the following are the steps to reproduce it:- Close all foreground applications.- Run Windows Explorer.- Run another applications.- Do the ALT + TAB (or ALT + TAB + SHIFT ) key combinations. A new "window" on the center of your desktop should appear. This window (I don't remember the name) shows all foreground applications actually running. You should see only two applications: Windows Explorer and the other one. Move back on Windows Explorer selecting it.- On Windows Explorer select a file to delete or create an empty one and select it.- Now, click the Canc key button or click on the file and from the popup menu that appears click on Delete menu item.- At this point ,the Windows Explorer Delete Folder dialog should appear, asking you to delete or not the file.- Do not click on the dialog, leave it as it is.- Now, move on to the other foreground application, with the ALT + TAB (or ALT + TAB + Shift) key combinations.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to open a file in Windows Media Player (and indeed many other programs), there is a box to put in (or click on) the file name. On the right end of this box is a little down arrow which, when clicked, provides a drop-down list of previously opened files. A picture of what I am talking about is below:is there a way to delete this list? I cannot really find a way to do it in the Options settings for the program. Alternatively, is there a setting somewhere that can be adjusted to not store these settings?
View 1 Replies View Related I've reviewed several different examples of how forfiles works. To set the stage, I need to automatically remove files with a file extension of .0 followed by numbers that increment and these files would be 7 days or older. Unfortunately, none of the examples or forfiles /? usage explains how to specify what I need done to file extensions that end with .0xxxxx
Here is what I have so far:
Code: echo on
rem Remove stats-bin.0* files older than 7 days
forfiles /p "c:Program FilesMySQLMySQL Server 4.1data" /m stats-bin.0* /c "cmd /c del /Q @file /d -7
rem pause Within the data directory, there are stats-bin.index files, stats.0XXXXX files and others. The goal here is to only remove those files that begin with stats-bin.<numbers>

I've got a corrupt file on my TomTom ONE Third Edition. TomTom support has been unhelpful, and Google has let me down for the last 2 hours. I've tried programs like ChkDsk, Move On Boot, Unlocker, and FileASSASSIN.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, and the file that needs to be deleted is ttsystem.
I once deleted Windows 7 installation files on one of my drives using a Linux distro. Now all the files appear in a folder named ".Trash-0" and now when I try to delete the folder it says "You need permission from trusted installer to make changes to this file". I tried deleting the folders using another Linux distro but the folder is nowhere to be found when I boot using a Linux distro. I guess this is happening because Windows doesn't let you delete windows installation files even if they do not belong to the current installation. Is there a work around for this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded various video clips from different websites and would like to copy or burn then to blank DVD's. However, I am not that good with computers and don't exactly know how. I have a DVD burning software which I have taken my own personal DVDs and made a copy of them (which is not illegal by the way, I made sure and checked that). But I don't know how to do the same with various video files I have downloaded from the internet or that friends have emailed to me. Some of the files types include AVI, and MKV file types, others I cant find out what kind of file it is. I can play these on my computer and watch them, but I would like to maybe compile the video files and put hard copies of them on DVDs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I use a commercial software like Drive Scrubber to clean my HD, will a Win 7 Upgrade Discboot ? I want to eliminate any possible virus/malware. Is there any advantage to using commercial software to format, or is the reinstall format listed in the tutorials as effective? My concern is that Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 (KIS) had corrupted data bases and after removal and reinstallation did not perform well. I could not download anything, e.g. CCleaner and received Certificate Error questions on certain websites. Also, I would like a fresh registry to insure previous programs like Chrome, Firefox, KIS, remnants are eliminated.
