Explorer Does Not Refresh When Deleting File?
Oct 7, 2011but my workplace is using Windows 7 and I am discovering some things that are different to XP.When delete a file, windows explorer does not show that the file has been deleted.

Refresh The Network List In File Explorer?
Feb 11, 2013When I open a Windows Explorer window, on the left column there are the usual Favorites, Libraries, Computer and finally Network. Click on network and after what appears to be a brief scan, it will show a nice list of all the computers connected along with Media Devices.
But sometimes, some of the other computers drop off. I seem to notice this after mine wakes from sleep mode (and perhaps some of the other computers have been off and on. It doesn't refresh the network list. Mine shows up, but nothing else.
If I reboot, everything shows up again. But I don't want to do that all the time. Is there a way (command) that will refresh the list manually?

Dec 17, 2012I don't know if this is a define behavior or a known bug, in any case the following are the steps to reproduce it:- Close all foreground applications.- Run Windows Explorer.- Run another applications.- Do the ALT + TAB (or ALT + TAB + SHIFT ) key combinations. A new "window" on the center of your desktop should appear. This window (I don't remember the name) shows all foreground applications actually running. You should see only two applications: Windows Explorer and the other one. Move back on Windows Explorer selecting it.- On Windows Explorer select a file to delete or create an empty one and select it.- Now, click the Canc key button or click on the file and from the popup menu that appears click on Delete menu item.- At this point ,the Windows Explorer Delete Folder dialog should appear, asking you to delete or not the file.- Do not click on the dialog, leave it as it is.- Now, move on to the other foreground application, with the ALT + TAB (or ALT + TAB + Shift) key combinations.

I tried to see if its a driver issue by booting into Safe Mode but it didn't work in there.

I've run Spybot, AVG and other programs, but nothing seems to stop it.Whenever I click on a link in my bookmarks, it gets deleted in the folder almost automatically afterwards. The bookmarks that get deleted seem to happen at random. When I replaced the bookmarks and clicked them again, sometimes they are fine while others that survived the first round get erased, while some bookmarks remain untouched. This happens to bookmarks in completely different folders, and my history seems to have been left untouched.

This file is like a ghost, its not on my hardrive and there's nothing in it, its just sitting in my library in my pictures section. On the right end of this box is a little down arrow which, when clicked, provides a drop-down list of previously opened files. A picture of what I am talking about is below:is there a way to delete this list? I cannot really find a way to do it in the Options settings for the program. Deleting Trash-0 / Need Permission From Trusted Installer To Make Changes To This File
Jan 31, 2013I once deleted Windows 7 installation files on one of my drives using a Linux distro. Now all the files appear in a folder named ".Trash-0" and now when I try to delete the folder it says "You need permission from trusted installer to make changes to this file". I tried deleting the folders using another Linux distro but the folder is nowhere to be found when I boot using a Linux distro. I guess this is happening because Windows doesn't let you delete windows installation files even if they do not belong to the current installation. Is there a work around for this?

Jan 28, 2011I had an unusual happening on my PC. First noticed some instability while trying to open a file from Explorer, could not scroll down to file and it was jittery. Then, every time I tried to enter on an input line, an endless string of zeros were input and I could not overide or erase. Even on Email addressees. I tried a reboot and the zeros appeared on the start up password line and I could not logon. Same thing after complete power cycle. I suspected a stuck key on the keyboard and tried a different keyboard but no help. So I tried a complete restore. At first, it seemed to have the same problem, but somehow, eventually, I got logged on and now everything seems OK. But I don't really know what caused this and fear it could happen again.

Aug 30, 2012There is one specific folder in the Documents library, which when opened directly (like from a shortcut on the dekstop) only shows "corrupted" files with unusable strings for all file names and extensions.However, when opened in tree view, the files appear as they should. So at least it's reassuring that the folder contents are still there and can properly be read and changed. But the issue is still inconvenient and worrisome.I have already tried chkdsk /f on the partition and even mirrored the whole volume to a new harddrive, but that didn't help. I also tried copying the whole folder to another location, it shows up just fine that way as well.

Jun 30, 2011I just put together a new PC with decent motherboard, AMD quad CPU, 8 GB RAM, solid-state C: main drive, new 2 TB disk slave drive F:, plus an older external drive G:. I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit.I have many video files (mp4, flv, mpg, mpeg & wmv). These were compiled on another computer running XP Home SP3. The problem is that I can no longer access file details, which is a huge problem. So, when I right-click a file name, hit Properties, Details, Comments, my old text notes are either missing or there is no comments field, depending on file type. I see all users have full rights, and I unchecked Read-only and Hidden File and applied to all. No change. I tried copying files to the other drives ... no change.
The mp4 files don't show my old notes in the empty Comments line. The flv files show no comments line at all. The mpg and mpeg have a blank Comments line that cannot be filled in; same for Nero VOB files. The wmv files, however, are the only ones that show the old notes in the comments line.As for pics, the jpg files seem to have their comments intact (whew!).If I put the external drive back on the XP machine, the comments are there. I later installed Nero 9 from their website

I am running Windows Seven Professional 64-bit and Windows Update isn't showing any more possible updates.
My computer is a Dell Precision M90 laptop with a Intel Core2 Duo 2.0GHz processor.
Problem:
When I use Windows Explorer to open files that are associated with the program SolidWorks I receive the message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
I am running SolidWorks 2010 Professional SP0 which is a 3D modeling program for mechanical engineering. The program ran under XP without this issue.
I only receive this message if there is not an instance of SolidWorks running. Even after I receive this message, SolidWorks still loads and opens the file I selected through Windows Explorer.
This problem occurs no matter where the file is located (network or local).
This problem doesn't keep me from getting my work accomplished, but it is a bit of nuisance. Any help that anyone could offer would be much appreciated. I'm including a screen capture of the message.

Cannot Delete File - Used By Windows Explorer
Nov 16, 2012So I have a few very small files that I want to delete but when I try, it says "used by Windows Explorer." But I know I run Command Prompt, but when I type in the file name, it says, it cannot be found. The harder problem is that I don't think Command Prompt recognizes the name...it's:

dddrkknghtrsssss72bd.dago (1)
Which is why I cannot delete them through Command Prompt...I deleted others no problem as they have "regular" names...
Windows Explorer Crashing With Specific File
Aug 5, 2012I am having this same problem: url...Only my files are Adobe Audition files.I followed the steps this guy used. I downloaded Altap Salamader and deleted what I thought was the offending file from the folder, used CCleaner to clear the bin and restarted. I thought I was home-free, but then I realized that it is some other file in that folder. I tried deleting all the files. No go. I tried deleting the folder. No go. I even tried just renaming the folder and it tells me I have to get permission from me. I checked my permissions. I ran as admin. I even enabled the super-admin profile and tried it there.I tried restoring a previous version of the folder and it tells me it's successful, but it remains the same corrupted version.

May 4, 2011I tried to copy a file from a failing network drive to another nework drive, and the copy failed midway. Now when I right click on the destination file to attempt to delete it, explorer hangs. If I left click and press the "del" key, explorer hangs as well, and if I go to the command prompt and try to delete the file using the DOS "del" command, the process hangs as well.
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. The file is obviously corrput, and I would like to get it off my drive.
