XP was fine, no problem, but it seems to me that Epson have (has?) abandoned this fine scanner as there is no 640U listed in the Microsoft Support section @ EpsonPerhaps there is a driver in the Microsoft Support section, intended for another Perfection scanner that would work? I'm this close to downgrading to XP or else grapple with a virtual XP installation inside Windows 7. Which is slightly less pleasant than having teeth pulled. W/o the benefit of anesthetic

Epson Stylus CX3200 All-in-one driver will run the scanner without problems!
1. Download the Stylus CX3200 driver here and expand the files out to your hard drive.
2. Plug your scanner in and let windows 7 complain that it can’t install it correctly.
3. Open your Device Manager and right click the unknown device it has detected.
4. Click Update Driver and browse to the location you placed the driver files.
5. Choose the CX3200 driver and tell Windows you want to install it anyway, even though it isn’t known to work with your hardware.
Any TWAIN compliant scanning software should work fine now with your Epson Perfection 610!

The Epson sites only provides an stone-old Vista 32 Bit driver. The driver installs without any message, and i even can select the Scanner in the Twain Menu in my Paint Program, but when pressing on the startbutton then comes "An error occures while trying to open the Data Source". Feb 22, 2012I installed AutoCad 2012 in my Dell XPS 15 Laptop (Windows 7 64-bits), but it kept giving me problems with continuous crashes. I decided to format my system by performing a clean installation of Windows 7 32-bits (it is the configuration I have been working with in two other computers without those problems). To accomplish it I was able to get most of the drivers I needed for the new configuration. But there are several problems I could not get solved so far: one has to do with the title of this message. I went to Dell site but I could not find and download any driver for the PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1C3A&CC_0780 that Windows tells I need. And the other problem is that I cannot install the driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M because whenever I try to do it, the installer stops installation of the driver and shows a message telling me that there is an Intel component missing that I have to install prior to attempt installing the NVIDIA thing.
