Feb 22, 2009Basic question: Does Windows 7 have built in drivers for NIC cards? I am trying to install Win 7 to a barebones Shuttle K45 system. Win 7 installs seamlessly, but cannot connect to the internet. NIC card light is flashing but no driver. When I try to load drivers from the CD that came with the MB, it complains that it does not know the Win 7 OS so no drivers are installed.
Without internet access I can not send MS feedback or get updates.
I installed XP, but Win 7 will not do an upgrade to XP. XP works fine. Installed Vista Ultimate and it works fine, NIC and hardware is all OK with these two OS systems. It is just a problem with getting driver into WIN 7 that will allow a Generic Marvell Yukon Chipset based Ethernet Controller to communicate with Router.
Any ideas on how I can proceed so I can test Win 7 on this new machine?

Oct 26, 2011One night while loging off,I noticed a small memo from "cnet" specifying that by running their testtracker software, i could isolate the reaon why i got the apparent error and a poosible clue as to what to do to alleviate it. i read the info on the memo and proceeded and found that a "date" was missing or had been unabled to be updated on a file due to the rules laid down and that prevented an update on he particular file. (only found that out much later.) the date was only the beginning and the the abilities of cnet and finding where to go in the application left me totally lost. i need help in in knowing ho and what exactly to do when the date is accidentally or intentionally changed. and what occurs after that point. does the date affect anything other area.

Then I decided to change the graphics card from an ASUS Radeon HD 6770 to an ASUS Radeon HD6850 1GB.Upon restart and every restart since, the Aero effects do not work. May 1, 2011I just recently upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home premium. When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.Anyways I used to have transparency, but when I try to get that same effect it says "The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work. I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?

Feb 2, 2012I entered the CD and then it automatically booted, and then it went through the usual setup routine and the problem started when it reached the part where I'm supposed to choose where to install Windows.I formatted Local Disk "C" and then chose it to install there, it then said: This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.I then shut down the PC and then re-booted it, it read the CD and then went to "Windows is loading files" then skipped the installation and went for the normal "Starting Windows"... It's weird because I don't have a "C" so how come it says that without having windows? Anyway, it passes this screen and suddenly it just glows in multi colors until I have to shut it down myself. Trying again gave the same response (Which means I can't access the install screen. All what I have is the BIOS menu)There is no way I can return the CD at the moment, and I lost the previous Windows disk...

I know that when I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade advisor, it did single out the graphics card as "not compatible". If so did you find some driver for the graphics card that would enable you to "work around" this problem and give you the full range of graphics/colors as you would normally have? I have tried downloading a new driver for the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 but it seemed to do nothing. It all worked fine with the old Vista 32 bit system.

Nov 1, 2012I custom built my computer and I am having problems with intermittent freezing. I had to replace my last wireless adapter because the connection was very slow (only sometimes). I replaced the card and now the speeds are great but sometimes the computer will freeze intermittently freeze for 1-2 secs. The mouse, video, sound and everything freezes and the sound puts out a weird "morphed" sound. To alleviate this problem I have to move the mouse down to the wireless icon in the right area of the task bar, click on it, and then click on the wireless connection. Then it will be fine. My computer is running windows 7 professional and the wireless driver is up to date.

Dec 12, 2009I have a network card that doesn't have a Windows 7 driver but some googling dug up a driver that made it work with a side affect of freezing the computer every now and again. Maybe once a day max.
My problem now though is it randomly decided to go haywire today. The computer won't last more than a minute now without freezing. I have it disabled at the moment so I can use the computer but whenever I try to enable it again, it's frozen about a minute later.
I didn't change anything, didn't do anything at all, it just started happening. I'm not sure what to check, what to do at all really since it was working fine before.
