One night while loging off,I noticed a small memo from "cnet" specifying that by running their testtracker software, i could isolate the reaon why i got the apparent error and a poosible clue as to what to do to alleviate it. i read the info on the memo and proceeded and found that a "date" was missing or had been unabled to be updated on a file due to the rules laid down and that prevented an update on he particular file. (only found that out much later.) the date was only the beginning and the the abilities of cnet and finding where to go in the application left me totally lost. i need help in in knowing ho and what exactly to do when the date is accidentally or intentionally changed. and what occurs after that point. does the date affect anything other area.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 Video card with 256 MB of RAM.
The card seems to work quite well with Windows 7, except that the highest resolution I can get with the present driver is 1280 x 1024, but this naturally stretches the screen. I can set it to a nice 1280 x 800 which looks pretty good on my 19" monitor.
However, I would like to get a resolution of 1440 x 900 for my 19" monitor but this options is not available. Do I perhaps have the wrong driver? I am presently using the one I downloaded with Windows 7 in the Device Manager. The driver version is 9.6.8.5 and is dated 10/9/2006.
It is not on this list on the Nvidia site
http://www.nvidia.com/object/io_1241025430517.html
Will windows perhaps be updating this driver for this card? Is there something I am not getting here?
Also, I do not know if this card is going to get more support from Windows.
Supposedly this driver will work for windows 7 but I have been unable to successfully install it.

Any help in this area for this card would be nice. I really like Windows 7.

View 9 Replies View RelatedNVIDIA GeForce Drivers 190.62 is released. This is the latest WHQL driver for NVIDIA GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, and 200-series desktop GPUs. NVIDIA GeForce drivers stand for compatibility, reliability, and stability with the widest range of games and applications.
Updating your drivers ensures the best experience for every user and delivers continuous performance and feature updates for your NVIDIA product. The driver adds support for NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory.
It has only been a few hours since XFastest have released the new GeForce 185.20 beta drivers, including a new release of Nvidia's PhysX engine 8.11.18.
Yet what's particularly noteworthy is that these new drivers contain an Ambient Occlusion setting that can be set to Low, Medium, High and Off.
From the description in Nvidia Control Panel:
Ambient Occlusion adds realism to scenes by reducing the intensity of ambient light on surfaces blocked by surrounding objects. It enhances depth perception by providing a soft shadow effect for objects based on their placement in the scene. This feature is not supported for all applications.
Basically, Ambient Occlusion is used to create soft, ambient lighting shadows, emulating diffused lighting such as daylight or indoor ambient lighting. For a more articulate description, refer to the Wikipedia definition here.
Additionally, Hardware-Infos has a write-up comparing GeForce 185.20 beta to several popular drivers releases issued in the second half of 2008.
The drivers are available for Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 7 build 7000 and can be found here.
I have a problem with my nVidia drivers. When I first installed Windows 7, I installed the GeForce drivers (big mistake). Then I installed the automatic update of nvidia drivers that Windows 7 downloaded. This lead to problems. I have now unistalled all drivers. Windows then looked for it's own drivers, and said they were installed. However, Aero doesn't seem to be working (all taskbars are gray).
I can't download the drivers from the nVidia site, because for some reason they haven't put the Windows 7 drivers for mobile gfx cards online. I can't download the driver via Automatic Update because Windows seems to think I already installed it. Does anybody know how I can find these drivers?
NVIDIA's upcoming beta driver suite has been leaked by sections of the Chinese media.
Be cautioned, this is a beta release that does not originate from NVIDIA's website, and is not guaranteed.
These drivers are VERY BETA, use at your own risk!
However, I have noticed a slight increase in performance (Versus the 186.18 Drivers) in the Crysis Benchmark as well as the Counter-Strike: Source stress test.
I haven't tried 3DMark or any of that jazz yet.
DOCUMENTATION FROM THE GURU3D SITE:
There's a new NVIDIA GeForce driver out on the loose and it's in fact the first series 190 driver ever. This is Forceware 190.15 The driver is available for Windows Vista 32- and 64-bit and for Windows XP 32-bit flavor is available.
Very little is known about this driver but we need to that the original .inf file shows it was targeted at Quadro cards. We replaced the index with a modified .inf files (courtesy of laptopvideo2go) making the driver compatible with all current GeForce cards.
Interesting is that the Vista / Win 7 drivers also contact 3D Stereo drivers revision 190.15, look inside the archive to spot that yourself.
These drivers are to be considered very beta and thus treated as such. You install them at your own risk, don't complain to us or NVIDIA if they do not work out for you.

ok, follow these easy steps to make aero work on your fx5200-based system
the wddm1.0 driver that DOES work with this card is the last forceware release that included the FX series, wich is the 96.85 release.
you can do a google search for it or download it from here:

after installing this driver you will not see any new effects, so just go to the
"theme" settings and change the theme to any theme with 'aero' effects (I chose 'Architecture', you can choose another one), and VOILA!!, aero comes to Windows 7 with your FX5200 card.
I've got a problem with installing drivers for GeForce 9600M GT. I've installed windows 7 build 7264 x86, and after installation my display adatper is Standard VGA. This's a bit strange becouse when i have a beta 7000, and 7100 it automatically goes for windwos update and get correct drivers.
I've downloaded latest drivers from Nvidia (186.03) but it wont install with message that it cant find drivers for my hardware.
I've tried nvidia auto scannig, with no result. Also tried installing drivers manually with update driver, and uninstalling standard vga drivers in safe mode, but after restart it automatically install standard vga drivers even in safe mode...
I have MSI Gx630 Laptop.
I have Windows 7 32bit installed on an ASUS P5RD1-VM mobo with an nVidia Geforce 8500 GT graphics card.
I have tried numerous times to install the Windows 7 (32bit) Driver from manufacture site, but when it tries to install the drivers, I get an error message saying "No drivers were found that work with your device. Setup will now close."
I don't get this! I'm on that graphics card right now, in Windows 7, and typing this thread...
Also, in Device Manager, there is no "Display Adapter" listed.... I can't seem to find any evidence of a generic display driver either....
I've already solved the problem of my sound not working (SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio) and this is the last thing I need to get Windows 7 working for a REAL test run!
How can I get these drivers installed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using NVidia GeForce FX 5500 256 MB RAM on my home PC. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate RC and everything worked smoothly including Aero to the highest quality where drivers were from Windows Update. Now, I got licensed Windows 7 Professional. When I update the driver from Windows Update everything works just fine until I shut down the PC and turn it on again. When I do that after OS finishes loading, screen suddenly goes blank. After like 2 minutes, system gives a blue screen and restarts. This time Windows successfully makes it to desktop saying that Windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown. When the report is prepared it says something went wrong with the video card drivers. The same thing happens even if I install the latest drivers for Vista directly from nVIDIA website as there is no Windows 7 drivers for FX 5500.

96.85 is the driver comes with Windows Update for FX 5200 cards. The problem is this driver makes my computer freeze at random times. For full details This Thread.
I've found 97.34 and 98.16 are also compatible and enable Aero. However all of those cause my system lock up as told in the linked thread. I am using 169.21 Forceware which is a XP driver and that can't support Aero interface.
Is it a way to combine this two working and not working drivers? Like modded INFs?
