View 1 RepliesWhen I go on the internet I can go to any site but one. It says that windows could not connect to proxy server. I have tried everything I could think of. I added it to trusted sites, reset the proxy, tried several commands and haven't gotten anywhere. It won't pull up the particular site in IE or firefox, but it will pull it up on any other computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to log onto Firefox and it said something about not able to connect to the proxy server. I then tried to connect to IE, Opera, and safari and they didn't work. I configured my FF settings to let the network choose the server. But for some programs, like MW2 I cannot access Multiplayer, but I can access teamspeak.

View 1 Replies View RelatedGenerally once or twice a day, my computer will suddenly drop its internet connection. It will then start an endless loop of trying to connect: Sensing the network is there Trying to connect (With the loading symbol and "Initializing")Appearing to connect successfully (but when I try an open a web page, nothing loads, and I receive an error message telling me there's no connection)A few seconds later, the yellow triangular warning sign appears next to the wireless bar.A few seconds after that, it drops the connection, and then starts over at step oneA few seconds later, it will start again at step one.The only way I am able to get the network back on is to: Disconnect manually (press "disconnect")Turn of my wireless antenna on my computer Turn on and off my router Turn back on the antenna Reconnect.I have to do these 5 steps every time it disconnects. This is only happening on this one computer - other computers on the network aren't experiencing the problem (running XP and Win 7).I have an Asus U56E-BAL7.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLast week I had a Win XP desktop computer. I use a Netgear WGR614 V6 router. I have fiber to the house and use a Cat5e Ethernet cable to connect the router to the wall jack and Cat5e from the router to the XP computer. I also used Wi-Fi to connect my Windows 7 x64 new laptop and an older XP laptop to the Internet. Everyone was happy and all worked well! I set-up a new Dell Windows 7 x64 desktop computer (it currently connects to the Internet just fine).
During the period I was setting up the new Windows 7 desktop I had both the XP desktop unit AND the new Windows 7 desktop connected to the router via Ethernet cables (at that time both laptops could connect to the Internet). After I had transferred the XP files to the Win 7 computer I just shut down the XP computer and removed the Ethernet cable linking the XP computer and the router - the new Windows 7 computer still connected to the Internet fine (as it still does today).
I made 2 changes to the router:
1) I had the XP desktop connected to Port 3 on the back of the router and had the Windows 7 x64 desktop connected to Port 2 on the router.
2) I used Cat5e cable on the XP desktop and used a Cat 6 cable to connect the new Windows 7 desktop unit to the router.
Both laptops see my router name but neither laptop can connect - even ran the troubleshooting routine. Could simply using Cat6 cable be causing a problem (Windows 7 desktop connects fine via the cable, laptops can not connect via Wi-Fi)? Surely just changing the port I connect the desktop cable to the router with wouldn't cause any problem would it? Do I need to do some sort of set-up or configuration to the new desktop unit to make the router Wi-Fi work for the laptops?
As an initial note, this has absolutely nothing to do with illegal activity, despite the fact that it sounds suspect in nature. But, here we go:
I want to proxy internet traffic from my house through a router in another home, and preferably only the traffic from one laptop in my house. For example:
Laptop: Home A -> router in Home B -> www Other computers: Home A -> www
I believe that the simplest way to accomplish this would be having a dedicated computer in House B, which my laptop could remotely control. However, I'm trying to avoid having a computer constantly on in House B. Also, I have full access to both networks, routers, etc...
I am using internet on my office computer through proxy server address which is configure in my internet browser LAN setting. My network adapter configure wit static IP address, Sub-net mask, default gateway & preferred DNS address,For as test, I change IP address in network setting then checked, my internet was not working?i changed only last one digit of IP, for Expample
Original IP 172.16.55.50 Work
Change IP 172.16.55.51 Not Work
how to check which IP enable for internet & which IP not allowed for internet?
I think I may be dealing with two separate issues here, but let me just tell you what's going on:When trying to connect to the internet through both a wireless router and my local area connection, my browsers give me error saying, "X is trying to connect using a proxy server that is not responding."When I troubleshoot either of these connections, it tells me the DNS server is not responding. My roommate's computer, also a brand-new Windows 7 laptop, is also unable to connect, as is my Android phone. My dad is also having a similar problem with his connections, though when he resets the modem it will resolve the problem for a day or two.I have tried:Rebooting computer, modem and wireless routerReconfiguring the wireless routerDefining the DNS address to OpenDNS addresses and Google DNS addressesReturning the DNS to be found automaticallyDisabling/enabling both internet connectionsReleasing and renewing my IP addressTalking directly with my ISP supportAnd countless other Googled remedies.I would think it was only a problem with the modem - however, when my computer is connected to a new wireless network somewhere else, it still returns the same proxy error

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found a temporary workaround by way of using Hotspot Shield's free VPN services, but I would like to create my own proxy server at home instead so I can avoid the constant timeouts/disconnects involved with the free service. So far I've set up my PC to use a static IP on the network, and forwarded port 1723 to that address. I've also enabled incoming connections under adapter settings, but it just seems like I'm missing something big here. I am unable to make a connection to my home PC from my iPhone over WAN, and even if I was able to I'm not sure how to enable internet connection sharing over that connection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i have open DNS setup on my home router which is connected to my Verizon router (piece of crap) which i also have running open DNS. I run open dns for security and for filtering i have several teenagers in the house and i need to filter content. The only problem is that they can bypass the DNS server settings by setting them manually on there computer Start > Control panel > network and sharing > adapter setting > left click on adapter > properties > IPV4 properties and then change the DNS. I was wondering if there was a way to make it so this trick does not work? I have tried everything i know to do. I have set the open DNS, as the DNS server on every connection on my Verizon router and on my linksys router but it can still be bypassed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedLast Friday my main desktop crashed (lost power to the machine) and on restarting the PC was unable to "identify" the network. By identify, I mean, when using "Network and Sharing Centre" on the basic network information page, the PC shows "Identifying" under "active networks" - no matter how long I leave the PC.
PC details
Model: Packard Bell Power x-30
Processor i7 870 @2.93GHz
RAM: 8GB
O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Modem Router details
Netgear N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router
The main desktop is connected to the modem router (via Ethernet). The modem router is showing no sign of any problems itself, all the dashboard lights look ok (i.e. power is on, port 1 shows the Ethernet connection in place, both wireless bands are lit, the DSL is lit and so is the internet). The household contains a number of laptops which continue to work ok wirelessly and/or wired through Ethernet. Even mobile phones are accessing the wi-fi ok.
The DNS Server address looks ok, as that is the address of the web page to the router. I cannot access that web page (address) via the main desktop, but I can from other devices ok. Having gone through Device Manager the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is showing as "working properly". I have tried pinging the DNS Server address, and that fail. I have gone through a system restore to a previous point (before the day of the crash) but that seems to have made no difference either.
I have attempted to set the IP addresses (for TCP/IPv4) directly
IP address 192.168.0.3
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
And therefore forced to set the DNS Server address too
Preferred DNS server: 192.68.0.1
But I don't know what to set for the alternate DNS Server, so left blank. This seems to step me forward, in that the device/network is now identified. However the internet access is still not work, as the "DNS Server is not responding".
I have a D-Link DIR615 router which I've been using for the past 5 months (no problems whatsoever). After i've got my laptop from the support service I can't seem to successfully connect to my home network.
My phone can connect with no problem to my router. My laptop sees other wireless networks. This is how it goes: when I try to connect it immediately says "unable to connect" when I run the diagnostics I get the "windows did not receive any response from the wireless router" message. I can only connect after like 30 mins of changing the wireless settings (usually SSID and security) from my router + rebooting it countless times. Even then, I usually check "automatically connect" and the next day after I arrive from work, it doesn't really connect automatically and can't even connect to it (unable to connect message). Even typing a wrong passphrase when it's secured it doesn't say "wrong passphrase" but "unable to connect".
Another very wierd thing is that my wireless network disappears from the network list after a few minutes, I still see other secured wireless networks.
I can connect to a wireless network made by phone (wifi hotspot) with no problems.
Is it possible to set up a workgroup between two computers without connecting them with a crossover cable or setting it up over a wireless network?
