Conexant Sound Driver Not Installing
Oct 25, 2012I have no yellow exclamation points under my device manager...I thought I could uninstall/re-install conexant sound drivers from this site Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv6748us Entertainment Notebook PC | HP� Support but it will not allow me to install them again. It's a Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 and I cant seem to find any drivers for it on windows 7 that works.

Gateway 7320GZ, Conexant AC 97, No Sound?
Jan 8, 2010I'm running x86 on a Gateway 7320GZ. After upgrading to 7 I have no sound. There doesn't appear to be any problem with the drivers etc...in fact, when i click on the speaker I can see the volume bars moving...but I have no sound.I've followed other posts and tried installing the appropriate Gateway driver package using compatibilty mode...no dice. I've tried installing the drivers recommended by Windows Update Catalog (the drivers were found after entering the PCI info) but that didn't work either. I've tried manually installing the Vista drivers.

Nov 30, 2012So i've had this problem before but randomly windows 7 seems to make it so my 5.1 speakers only send out stereo through 2/3 speakers. I've never found the cause or the fix of it until now, and even then I only know the cause. So as far as i can tell it was when i plugged a 3.5mm jack in the front port that it changed to stereo, so i'm guessing that a setting has changed due to that lead and it hasn't reverted back?So.. anyone have any ideas? I've tried looking in the settings/playback options but to no luck.Windows 7 - up to date.Connected over an optical leadZ5500 Speakers Homebuilt pc - not really worth going into the specs.

I got this version of my realtek driver: 6.0.1.6526.I downloaded it from guru3d.com , because I can't download from the official realtek site.

Stereo Mix To Record Sound From Card Missing
Sep 20, 2012Im trying to playback audio for sstv through my sound card and the "Stereo Mix" option is missing as an audio input (recording) method. I have some in-product sound card that came from Dell so I've been told it may not be possible. But I've found free software that does record in the same exact way that "Stereo Mix" would. Is there any universal sound drivers out there that would add "Stereo Mix" as an option?

Jan 16, 2010I Built my computer recently on christmas day. I got all the drivers and my motherboard came with sound drivers however I got the Realtek Drivers for my board since they were not on the disc (Or for some reason did not get installed) But anyways the drivers are all working fine i've had no problems with my computer at all yet however whenever i try to record or transmit on ventrilo (VOIP) with Stereo Mix there is no sound. When i record on audacity with stereo mix nothing is recorded. There is just no sound.
The option is for stereo mix DOES exist and i know for sure that my motherboard has stereo mix. My friend also built a computer around the same time (Christmas break) with most of the same parts. He has my exact motherboard and his is working perfectly fine. The mobo im using is an EVGA X58. To anyone who can help I thank you and i will respond if you need to know any specs.
Issue With Conexant Audio Driver
Nov 10, 2009I'm experiencing some issues with my Conexant audio driver and I'm hoping someone could help me out. I have a Toshiba P100-437 laptop and for some reason my audio stops working after a couple of reboots. So here is the scenario:
I install a fresh copy of Windows 7. It installs a "High Definition Audio Device", provided by Microsoft, version 6.1.7600.16385, date 2009/07/13. When I do a windows update, it installs a driver by Conexant: "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio HD2". The sound works for a while, until after a couple of reboots when it just suddenly stops working: the equalizer in the volume control is still moving up and down but no sound is coming out of the speakers.
So I force the driver back to the Microsoft's "High Definition Audio Device", after which it works for a while again until after a couple of reboots and then its dead. Does anyone have any other drivers I may try or perhaps any other solutions?

Nov 9, 2009I have an hp zd8230us, and recently installed windows 7 ultimate x64 and I got all the drivers to work fine except audio. i have a conexant AC-97 card and after HOURS of searching and reading and trying many drivers, i am still out of luck.
in device manager it only shows up as ( multimedia audio controllers ) so the windows update doesn't work, I had it register as realtek ac-97 at one point but the update said it was up to date when it really didn't work. I even tried driver genius and still no luck. so is there anyone out there that has had better luck then I?

HP Pavilion Dv8220ca / Conexant High Definition Audio
Dec 17, 2009I have a (3 yr.) HP Pavilion dv8220ca Laptop. Looking for a driver that will be compatible with Windows 7. My friend bought the new OS for his exact same lappy (without too much concern about updating) and said that he cannot found a sound driver that will work. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 and have been looking for a driver to fix his issue, so I can fix mine.
I can't find the exact sound card, the normal driver set is a Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver. If anyone knows of a work around or a universal driver compatible with Windows 7 please let me know. So far I have tried the Conexant High Definition Audio 4.8.0.0 and I only received an ERROR.

Sep 12, 2012Recently received my U400 and the microphone worked great. However, at some point during a Skype call, my partner could not hear me very well and was only able to hear static on my end.
I checked my sound setting and under the "Recording" tab, the Conexant Internal Microphone was very active and "loud" (as if I was constantly talking). I went under properties and checked "Listen to this device" and all I could hear was static. I tried talking but couldn't hear myself. Lowering microphone level didn't seem to change the amount of static I hear from my microphone. I turned off mic boosts and enhancements, but it didn't change static.
Internal microphone is set as default device. Stereo mix is similarly active and loud. Driver version is 8.54.19.0. (up to date). Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
Tried uninstalling driver and letting Windows install a new driver, but problem persisted. Pretty much can't use microphone to record, but it shows that it is active and is receiving a lot of sound somehow.

Stereo Mix Is Not Showing Up?
Dec 28, 2011So i got a problem and i cant reslove it. its about the stereo mix .the problem : i think (not sure) that i enabled the stereo mix by Fraps (recording program) where there was a recird Windows 7 sound > stereo so i checked it and then i couldn't talk anymore on the mic that i have. I knew that my problem is stereo mix because when i open the ts and try to talk they hear waht my computer is doing (playing music .. etc...) I tired to put show disabled divices and show disconnected devices but it didn't show up to disable it Tired to install the latest version of my sound card which is : High defenition audio but it didn't show up tooTried also to unistall then install .. the same didn't show up..

Jun 10, 2012For some reason, awhile back, I used to be able to record with Stereo Mix on Audacity, Hypercam, even to other people on Skype. But all of a sudden, out of nowhere, it just stopped working. There was a time where it said it was unavailable, but now it says it is working, but when I try to record sound using Stereo Mix, it either doesn't record the sound, or the program doesn't recognize that Stereo Mix exists.I have "Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller" under my Stereo Mix properties (I'm guessing that's like the driver or audio device name). When I try to record in Audacity, I get a message saying "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." The input device (the Realtek AC'97 I'm guessing) says it's "working", and the project sample rate is the exact same as it says in my recording settings. My guess is that Audacity doesn't see "Stereo Mix" or "Realtek AC'97" as a device currently on my computer, which doesn't make any sense, cuz my computer says otherwise. It also doesn't make sense, because I'm able to select "Stereo Mix" as a device for recording IN Audacity itself.
I've read other posts about this problem, and none seemed to be of any help (I've tried the solution posted but didn't fix it). Is it because my "Stereo Mix" isn't set up to my speakers or something? Is it because I have Realtek AC'97 and not the HD one? Could it have something to do with my current USB Microphone (which that seems to work just fine for recording)? I dunno, like I said, it "used" to work, but just suddenly, out of nowhere, didn't work anymore.By the way, It is set as the default device, and is enabled and says it's "working". It also does not have any green bars next to it (or lack thereof), and in the properties, I do not see a "listen" tab.
