Everything works except for my sound card, there is no sound at all
It's a Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 and I cant seem to find any drivers for it on windows 7 that works.
Somebody know how to get it to work?
I'm running x86 on a Gateway 7320GZ. After upgrading to 7 I have no sound. There doesn't appear to be any problem with the drivers etc...in fact, when i click on the speaker I can see the volume bars moving...but I have no sound.I've followed other posts and tried installing the appropriate Gateway driver package using compatibilty mode...no dice. I've tried installing the drivers recommended by Windows Update Catalog (the drivers were found after entering the PCI info) but that didn't work either. I've tried manually installing the Vista drivers.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing some issues with my Conexant audio driver and I'm hoping someone could help me out. I have a Toshiba P100-437 laptop and for some reason my audio stops working after a couple of reboots. So here is the scenario:
I install a fresh copy of Windows 7. It installs a "High Definition Audio Device", provided by Microsoft, version 6.1.7600.16385, date 2009/07/13. When I do a windows update, it installs a driver by Conexant: "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio HD2". The sound works for a while, until after a couple of reboots when it just suddenly stops working: the equalizer in the volume control is still moving up and down but no sound is coming out of the speakers.
So I force the driver back to the Microsoft's "High Definition Audio Device", after which it works for a while again until after a couple of reboots and then its dead. Does anyone have any other drivers I may try or perhaps any other solutions?
I have an HP nx9030 (kinda old) runningWindows 7, I have all drivers installed except Audio. Does anyone know where to locate Windows 7 drivers for the Conextant on board Audio?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HT Omega Claro sound card that I've been having problems with. One issue that I have is after I uninstall the driver and try to reinstall it. It takes several attempts to install successfully.
Does this mean that the sound card is fualty? I'm not sure exactly how a driver works but i'm thinking it would try to comunicate with the hardware it's intended for and if there is a problem with the hardware that might cause the driver to have a dificult time installing.
I installed a driver for my sound card, only to find out that sound just wouldn't play on my laptop. (It says that the sound is playing, it's just that it isn't coming through the speakers.) I know that the drivers are updated, so if you're going to ask if my driver is updated, the answer to that is yes. At first, I had thought that it was only a problem with the driver, or the hard drive, but that's not it... I don't know what the problem is. I've tried looking for solutions online, but absolutely nothing worked.I don't want to be stuck with the generic "High Definition Audio Device" which will just mute the speakers at the most random times.

in device manager it only shows up as ( multimedia audio controllers ) so the windows update doesn't work, I had it register as realtek ac-97 at one point but the update said it was up to date when it really didn't work. I even tried driver genius and still no luck. so is there anyone out there that has had better luck then I?

I have a (3 yr.) HP Pavilion dv8220ca Laptop. Looking for a driver that will be compatible with Windows 7. My friend bought the new OS for his exact same lappy (without too much concern about updating) and said that he cannot found a sound driver that will work. I can't find the exact sound card, the normal driver set is a Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver. If anyone knows of a work around or a universal driver compatible with Windows 7 please let me know. So far I have tried the Conexant High Definition Audio 4.8.0.0 and I only received an ERROR.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently received my U400 and the microphone worked great. However, at some point during a Skype call, my partner could not hear me very well and was only able to hear static on my end.
I checked my sound setting and under the "Recording" tab, the Conexant Internal Microphone was very active and "loud" (as if I was constantly talking). I went under properties and checked "Listen to this device" and all I could hear was static. I tried talking but couldn't hear myself. Lowering microphone level didn't seem to change the amount of static I hear from my microphone. I turned off mic boosts and enhancements, but it didn't change static.
Internal microphone is set as default device. Stereo mix is similarly active and loud. Driver version is 8.54.19.0. (up to date). Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
Tried uninstalling driver and letting Windows install a new driver, but problem persisted. Pretty much can't use microphone to record, but it shows that it is active and is receiving a lot of sound somehow.

But I didn't have the Realtek drivers installed for my onboard soundcard (I'm unsure if they were never there or they'd disappeared) and therefore none of the Realtek software installed, and I needed them, so I found, downloaded, and installed the right one for my Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 motherboard. (I installed from The installation went through fine. Now, no sound is coming out, at least out of any of the three rear 3.5mm jacks for 5.1-surround-sound. Interestingly, the microphone input still works, though.I tested a USB headset I have and it works fine (Realtek doesn't recognize the input or output of the USB headset), and I tested two different 3.5mm headsets and neither of them work (but the 3.5 microphone jack did work and *was* recognized by Realtek). When I go to the "Windows Playback Devices" manager it shows my computer playing sound on the correct device but no sound is actually going through the jacks. I've gone to the device manager and tried disabling the only other sound *device* showing up, which was "ATI HDMI Audio". I've tried restarting multiple times, replugging the jacks, trying both setero and 5.1 configs, playing with a few enhancements and settings like the bitrate and exclusivity options.[CODE]

I have a HP built box that I purchased less than a year ago. The hard drive died, along with the motherboard.I purchased a new hard drive and the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and had the shop replace the MB, Install the new hard drive and O/S.The motherboard is an ASUS M4A785-M, with an on-board Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (according to Windows Device Manager).I have a couple of additional cards installed, one is an eSata controller for an external hard drive and the other is a SIIG DP FireWire 800 3-Port PCIe card.I initially installed the SIIG because the FireWire chip set is Texas Instruments, because I have a PreSonus Firestudio Mobile (sound card, recording hardware)and it only plays nicely with Texas Instruments. The SIIG card shows up in Device Manager under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers as "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller", which I "assume" is correct?
My problem is the PreSonus hardware refuses show up in Device Manager or initialize (there is an indicator light on the front of the unit that will glow blue when it is connected or flash blue-red when it isn't). PreSonus has a driver set for the Firestudio Mobile, that is called Universal Control.I have attempted to install Universal Control several times, but each attempt has resulted in failure, with the Driver version showing 0.0.0 etc. I realize this is the problem, but I have no idea how to force the issue.If I could get the PreSonus drivers to install, I would be home free (I think).he PreSonus hardware should show up in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers, but it doesn't.I have also posted about the issue on the PreSonus forum, but haven't had any solutions posted.This computer and the hardware are what I use to run my Recording Studio and without the Firestudio, I am effectively out of business.I should also note, that I haven't even installed any other software beyond windows 7, other than a couple of utilities. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Echo MiaMIDI sound card for recordings, when i first installed it i had to disable my motherboards onboard sound through my bios before windows would use it. This has been fine for 2+ years.
Windows 7 (64 bit home premium) has suddenly started installing the "HD Audio Device Drivers". I dont understand this since I have all windows updates turned off. But when it installs these audio drivers it disables my Echo MiaMIDI card.
So i go to device manager and it shows the Echo card but says there is not enough resources to use it due to other drivers being used, and it lists the HD Audio Device being in use. So i uninstall it but moments after this Windows starts installing it again. It still says disabled in my bios. its driving me crazy because i cant use my sound card!
