No Sound After Installing Windows 7
Jan 12, 2012I get the error message code 10, High definition audio device hasn't been recognised and if I hover over the speaker icon it says there's non been installed. all drivers are up to date.

No Sound After Installing Sound Drivers?
Dec 15, 2012I installed a driver for my sound card, only to find out that sound just wouldn't play on my laptop. (It says that the sound is playing, it's just that it isn't coming through the speakers.) I know that the drivers are updated, so if you're going to ask if my driver is updated, the answer to that is yes. At first, I had thought that it was only a problem with the driver, or the hard drive, but that's not it... I don't know what the problem is. I've tried looking for solutions online, but absolutely nothing worked.I don't want to be stuck with the generic "High Definition Audio Device" which will just mute the speakers at the most random times.

Jan 26, 2012So first I get this message when I mouse over the speaker icon(notice the red "x" on the icon).When I click the icon, Windows does a diagnostic and then this shows up.This is whats listed in my playback devices and this is with "Show disabled devices" enabled. Everything is enabled,Here is a picture of what my device manager looks like.
I've tried installing drivers for my sound card and my chipset, I tried restarting my computer, updated from my device manager, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, etc. I've been searching online for a bit and nothing I found worked so I figured I'd give this a shot. I tried uninstalling the service pack update but that didn't work.

Aug 12, 2011I have an Echo MiaMIDI sound card for recordings, when i first installed it i had to disable my motherboards onboard sound through my bios before windows would use it. This has been fine for 2+ years.
Windows 7 (64 bit home premium) has suddenly started installing the "HD Audio Device Drivers". I dont understand this since I have all windows updates turned off. But when it installs these audio drivers it disables my Echo MiaMIDI card.
So i go to device manager and it shows the Echo card but says there is not enough resources to use it due to other drivers being used, and it lists the HD Audio Device being in use. So i uninstall it but moments after this Windows starts installing it again. It still says disabled in my bios. its driving me crazy because i cant use my sound card!

Jan 10, 2013So, I've had my computer for a few years. But I didn't have the Realtek drivers installed for my onboard soundcard (I'm unsure if they were never there or they'd disappeared) and therefore none of the Realtek software installed, and I needed them, so I found, downloaded, and installed the right one for my Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 motherboard. (I installed from The installation went through fine. Now, no sound is coming out, at least out of any of the three rear 3.5mm jacks for 5.1-surround-sound. Interestingly, the microphone input still works, though.I tested a USB headset I have and it works fine (Realtek doesn't recognize the input or output of the USB headset), and I tested two different 3.5mm headsets and neither of them work (but the 3.5 microphone jack did work and *was* recognized by Realtek). When I go to the "Windows Playback Devices" manager it shows my computer playing sound on the correct device but no sound is actually going through the jacks. I've gone to the device manager and tried disabling the only other sound *device* showing up, which was "ATI HDMI Audio". I've tried restarting multiple times, replugging the jacks, trying both setero and 5.1 configs, playing with a few enhancements and settings like the bitrate and exclusivity options.[CODE]

Oct 16, 2010I have a HP built box that I purchased less than a year ago. The hard drive died, along with the motherboard.I purchased a new hard drive and the full version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and had the shop replace the MB, Install the new hard drive and O/S.The motherboard is an ASUS M4A785-M, with an on-board Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (according to Windows Device Manager).I have a couple of additional cards installed, one is an eSata controller for an external hard drive and the other is a SIIG DP FireWire 800 3-Port PCIe card.I initially installed the SIIG because the FireWire chip set is Texas Instruments, because I have a PreSonus Firestudio Mobile (sound card, recording hardware)and it only plays nicely with Texas Instruments. The SIIG card shows up in Device Manager under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers as "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller", which I "assume" is correct?
My problem is the PreSonus hardware refuses show up in Device Manager or initialize (there is an indicator light on the front of the unit that will glow blue when it is connected or flash blue-red when it isn't). PreSonus has a driver set for the Firestudio Mobile, that is called Universal Control.I have attempted to install Universal Control several times, but each attempt has resulted in failure, with the Driver version showing 0.0.0 etc. I realize this is the problem, but I have no idea how to force the issue.If I could get the PreSonus drivers to install, I would be home free (I think).he PreSonus hardware should show up in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers, but it doesn't.I have also posted about the issue on the PreSonus forum, but haven't had any solutions posted.This computer and the hardware are what I use to run my Recording Studio and without the Firestudio, I am effectively out of business.I should also note, that I haven't even installed any other software beyond windows 7, other than a couple of utilities. Oct 11, 2011I have a HT Omega Claro sound card that I've been having problems with. One issue that I have is after I uninstall the driver and try to reinstall it. It takes several attempts to install successfully.
Does this mean that the sound card is fualty? I'm not sure exactly how a driver works but i'm thinking it would try to comunicate with the hardware it's intended for and if there is a problem with the hardware that might cause the driver to have a dificult time installing.

Oct 1, 2010My computer is a Windows 7 Home Edition, soundcard is a Realtek High Definition Audio. The volume level is at about 5% or less, it was working fine and all of a sudden I can't hear anything or I can barely hear. I can see the levels at max when I play something but I can't hear a thing. I have tried raising all the levels from every device all the way to the top I have changed the settings under Communications to > Do Nothing I have uninstalled the drivers and re-installed. Downloaded the driver from Realtek and re-installed and also uninstalled the driver and re-installed automatically using windows 7 wizard. I have checked for any errors in my sound card using Sound troubleshooter and everything seems to be OK with the sound card. As I said it was working fine and suddenly the levels dropped to 5% or less. It went up to like 50% one time for about 2 seconds last night but now I can't hear anything. When I restart windows I can hear my speakers activate or something like that, but no other sound, not even the starting windows sound.

Headphone Amplification And Better Sound Sans Sound Card
Oct 21, 2012I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.

I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?
I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.
