About 2 months ago I started getting random freezes and would have to do a hard restart on my computer to restart. To see if it was a virus or any kind of malware, I did a clean reformat of my hard drive and was still having issues. Eventually it started taking forever to boot up and load files and I got a SMART status bad message. So I wound up replacing my hard drive with a brand new one and did a clean install of Windows 7. That seemed to fix the slow boot and file load times but now I'm still getting freezes. However they are not random. They seem to happen when I don't touch the computer for awhile, whether I have a program such as something downloading in the background or not. They also seem to happen when I close the computer and put it to sleep and leave it like that for awhile. I try to wake it up and I only get a black screen, however my computer is on as I can hear the components.
The strange thing is as long as I am actively using the computer it doesn't seem to do this. I was on it for about 6 hours yesterday night and nothing happened and the computer was working fine. I did various hard disk scans even though I know it can't be the hard drive seeing as I just replaced it. It also isn't my graphics card as I uninstalled the driver and let my computer run for awhile with the standard VGA adapter and it still froze after me not touching it for awhile. I also did a windows memory diagnostic scan and nothing came up. I'm thinking there are 2 seperate problems with my computer, one that I fixed by replacing the hard drive (the slow boot time and file loading times, it took me 20 minutes to open up windows explorer, it doesn't anymore.) and another that I am unsure of. Should I do more memtest passes? I heard that one is not enough and that you should do up to 7 to make sure your RAM isn't faulty.
Here are my computer specs:
Model: Samsung R780
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core i5 2.27 GHZ
RAM: 4GB DDR3
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GT 330M (1GB Video Memory)
Hard Drive: 500 GB Hybrid SATA/Solid State (4GB of solid state memory), this is the new hard drive that I purchased.
I tried downloading updates for a game and it immediately froze. So maybe the freezing is still happening on a random basis...

Windows 7, 64 bit. It's the original OS. I'm not sure what the difference between OEM and full retail is but I got this the way it was in the shop. I haven't added anything. The age is roughly a year old and I haven't reinstalled the OS.I got the BSOD twice a month or two apart about 2-3 months ago. However, it happened once yesterday, and twice today. The second time I got the error 0x8000ffff but I was able to do a system restore. I usually keep my laptop on for days... I used to do that with my previous laptop and I never had any problems so I don't know if that's what's causing the BSOD.

OK, I've read all about Windows 7 sleep mode and (think) I understand everything I've read. What I have not seen in my research and do not understand is why my PC enters sleep mode when it is not idle!
For example, I start a disk backup to an external drive, close the lid on my laptop (yes, I have set the sleep setting "do nothing" when the lid is closed), and then leave the computer to "do it's thing". The backup normally takes at least 15 minutes to run. However, my Windows 7 enters sleep mode within minutes while the backup job is running. Why?
This same problem occurs no matter what program I'm running - backup, video conversion, defrag, etc etc. It seems that if I'm not using the mouse or keyboard, sleep mode is activated no matter what is currently running on my PC.
Yes, I want to utilize the Windows 7 sleep mode feature. No, I don't want sleep mode activated while my computer is busy running a job!

For some reason my screen goes into the "enter admin password" mode when left idle. How can I make that stop? I get the reason for it, say if you worked in an office and don't want anyone to use your computer when your away, but this is a home computer.

my computer has all of a sudden started to give me a BSOD about a minute after I wake the computer up from Sleep Mode. Also, if I leave the computer for more than 15 minutes I come back and the computer has frozen so I have to manually restart it. Every once in a while I've gotten the BSOD while I'm in the middle of doing something and it's been hours since it was in sleep mode.
So far I've tried to Restore my computer back to before the trouble started, and I've also fully uninstalled my video drivers (ATI Radeon HD 5470), and then installed the newest version from ATI's website.
My computer is Windows 7 64-bit, OEM version from Acer.

3 days ago my PC started shutting down when idle for a short time - apparently when monitor screen goes to black. I have Win 7 and IE 8 and everything was fine for last 2 yrs. I have ran spybot, anti-malwarebytes. and Ccleaner along with MS security essentials. It only shuts down when idle.

Since the 7th, I've been getting crashes whenever I leave my PC idle for a long amount of time, from WhoCrashed, it appears to be different error codes every time.
So far, I've tried:
-Checking for driver updates
-Running a disc check on both of my hard drives
-Running a system scan
And I'm just about to run Memtest on my ram sticks.
My specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit OEM (No reinstall since I got my rig ~Jan 2011)
AMD Phenom II X4 925 (at 3.15ghz)
4x2 GB RAM (Replaced since August 2011)

My computer used to crash almost daily after being idle, and I was able to fix that. Now My computer seems to freeze about once a day after being idle for awhile. I usually get back to the computer after it has been idle for awhile, and it won't let me open any new programs. I try to open task manager and it doesn't let me do that either. I am able to shut down the computer, and when I turn it back on it works fine. [code]

I've been using my computer for about a month and the sleep function has worked perfectly until lately. It has been correctly going to sleep when commanded from the Start menu, and also after the allotted time (30 minutes) goes to sleep when the computer is idle. But, for the last few days, it will not automatically enter sleep mode when I leave the computer idle for 30 minutes.

I have an Acer w/ 8gb of ram(Newly installed was 4gb) w/ a 1TB HDD. On idle it range's from about 16-20%(1200-1600mb) I've had a few windows open w/ music video's plying etc. and it's never gone past 28% that's why I think at idle its high.
Is this normal. I opened up task manager under memory and closed some thing's I didn't need but it still seems pretty high.

I started to notice a few days ago that my computer was running extremely slow, it happened when I was tranfering MP3's to my Mp3 Player. Now I've never had the problem of it moving slow and ive done this process while watching movies and other things as well. I stopped the transfer process, restarted my computer. I tried the transfer again and the same thing happened. I opened up Task Manager and looked at the CPU, it was fine, however the RAM was at almost 100% usage (I have 4Gb of RAM), and all I had running was Avast, and Windows Media Player (which was transferring my Mp3's). So I stopped the process again and restarted my computer logged in and everything was fine. When i finished with my computer I got up went and did some things that took a few hours, came back and went to get on the internet and the same sluggish performance happened again. Now I've done many things, every system/virus scan, defrag, scandsk, deleted programs I do not use,and I even bought new RAM, changed my Virtual Memory settings with help from a friend, and absolutely nothing has worked. The strange thing is it seems if I am actively using it say searching the web it seems fine but when its just sitting there doing nothing is when the problem seems to happen.Last night before bed I decided to boot my comp in Safe Mode and leave it on just to see if the sluggishness would be in Safe Mode, well i woke up this morning and it was fine, was just as I left it initially. Now i've read many things it could be from Memory Leaking to to many programs running upon startup (which I know isnt the case as I am very picky about that) but I am at a loss so i thought I would ask here.Should the computer being fine in Safe Mode tell me that there is some sort of virus or some program that is acting maliciously on part of my RAM?

my mini computer is a funny one, i can be sitting working on it for hours on end without any hick ups but always whenever i leave it for a while to go do something else, when i come back it has crashed, automatically rebooted so no bluescreen. but it only crashes like this if i leave it idle, turned on.
What processes does windows start when the computer is not engaged by a user? because it has to be something like that which makes it fault and reboot right?

I'm having difficulties scheduling a task for when computer is idle. What I want to do is run a task after the computer has been idle for five minutes. I've tried creating a scheduled task in different ways, which will do this, but to no avail.I go to Task scheduler to create a task:
General Tab
Give the task a name, put the check box to run with the highest priv., and configure it for Win 7.
Triggers Tab
New, Begin the task on idle, Repeat task for 15 minutes indefinitely, Enabled.
Action Tab
[code]....
Now from what I can gather from this is that every 15 minutes, the computer will run the task if the computer stays idle for 5 minutes. Say, I start the computer and leave it like that, then the task should run after 5 minutes. Then after 10 minutes, it will once again start checking to run the task.

I have a number of windows 7 machines set up in an office and all of them were set up the exact same way. All but two are having issues shutting down when idle. I have my power options set to do nothing but turn off the monitor. Shutting off harddrives, hibernate, and standby are all disabled:
I have 1 Admin account and 1 User account on each computer. The settings are the same for both accounts. Screensaver is set to "none." I have comodo antivirus installed. The only processes initialized at startup are intel common user interface, audio manager, comodo, itunes crap, and java.

Current OS came OEM with the system, I have not re-installed OS but is considering it.More on the Window 7 installed here:64 bitWindows 7 Enterprise, SP1, came pre-installed with the computer.I have followed the steps to zip Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder & the PERFMON HTML file.

This is a weird problem that showed up in my laptop over the past few months, but I'm just now heading here to try to get some insight on the problem. So when I first got this computer about two and a half years ago, it could edit/render/encode HD videos with little sweat. Now, it can sorta still do that. The only quaint problem is that it tends to crash if I go AFK for about 10 minutes or so while it is doing so. I can sit while rendering a video and browse the internet with no problem--I don't even really feel the laptop getting very warm, let alone crashing. However if I am to leave it alone while I go to do something else, I always come back to it turned off. When I reboot, I get the typical "Windows did not shut down correctly" spiel.

if i leave my comp idle for a few hours i find that none of my programs start, and sometimes i cannot even open olders on my desktop, double clicking any shortcut or even the .exe in the root program folder results in nothing happening. the start menu still opens but i cant select restart or log off as they do not appear, i can still shutdown but it takes about 30 seconds before acually responding and shutting down. Also should mention that if i open any program eg: photoshop or nero and leave the computer idle, when i return and try to continue using the program it will stop responding most of the time, any either ctrl-alt-delete or shutdown is required to quit.my power management setting are all off, hybrid sleep is off....my comp is set to never sleep in any way.i am running windows 7 pro x64, i3 processor, 4gb ram?

I can't boot my computer in normal mode or safe mode. When I try to do so, after the "starting windows" page the only things that come up are my mouse, a black screen/background, and a "logonui.exe-bad image- Authui.dll isn't designed to run on windows" error/message (not the exact message). I can't use a system restore (it can't find a restore point), the image recovery tool finds no image to restore from, system repair either doesn't find a problem or can't fix the problem, and basically nothing else works (none of the advanced boot options or other various buttons and tools do anything noticeable). I've even tried to use sfc in command prompt, but whenever I do any sfc things at all (/scannow, verifyonly, verifyfile, etc.) it says there is a system repair pending that requires a reboot. I've restarted 7-8 times and the exact same message keeps coming up. I'm looking for any general help I can get right now, [I can post my computer specifics in an hour when I have time](posted a few). I have an HP pavilion dv6-6135dx wiht Windows 7 x64.Processor: AMD a8-3500m APU, raedon graphics bios vender/version: insyde, f. 20.I'm having trouble getting more info because my computer is still crashing occasionally and I don't really know what else is relevant; if you need more, I might need directions on how to get it. Especially if it involves command prompt.I should also add that it has been crashing more often than I think is normal ever since I got it, but recently it BSODed 3-4 times a day. I have antivirus and also ran a full malwarebytes scan yesterday, and it only found one little issue which was resolved.

I seem to be having quite the problem on a computer of mine. After recently installing the directx sdk I am unable to logon through normal or safe mode. When I try to boot up normally, I log in but then the monitors go black but everything else seems to run. Pressing ctrl alt delete works and brings up the screen again but if I try to select task manager for example the screen goes black again. When I boot up through safe mode the computer restarts seconds after loading the windows logon screen.

I have a home-built computer that is otherwise running fantastically, but occasionally when I leave the computer idle for an extended period of time (maybe an hour or more) I'll return to discover a black screen reading the boot error "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in proper boot device." This is odd because I have not asked the computer to restart -- I have no idea why it would be trying to reboot in the first place! This happens only occasionally (I can't predict it) and switching the computer off and on always results in a smooth reloading of Windows without any hitches or error messages. The error NEVER happens when I'm using the computer, even if I'm doing something relatively graphics intensive for 4-5 hours, it's only when I leave the machine idle, and then only sometimes.
