Clean Install, Crash After Windows 7 Logo, Works Before?

Nov 20, 2011

i bought a new setup, moved all old stuff to another empty computer case or what.the only i didnt moved to the old case was the PSU and some harddrives. first time i started the computer with the SSD (with functional OS of win7x64)everything works fine.. but it crashed some random times inside the windows, i thought it was because of the drivers, i got that fixed by removing one graficcardSo i thought it was better to whip all the data from SSD and make a clean installation, stability installation.i wipe the SSD drive from my old OS and installed a new one, in one step of the win7x64 installation, it crash and wont boot upstrange, i had not been at the bios with my fingers, after trying with some solution in 6h i change the ODC-> marvellSata6G controller to AHCI mode, main -> storage configuration to ACHI, in bios. Wont work.. I tried to change them to IDE, wont work either. I removed the two others ram sticks, it wont work either..uhm,the total time i been working of this in three days to get a clean Windows 7 to boot at this motherboardat last.. i luckly installed the OS to the SSD at my new setup and then move it to the old setup. That works.. first time, then the computer wont boot windows again.

Safe Mode With Networking Works, But Clean Boot Does Not

Nov 24, 2009

I try to help people with internet connectivity issues. Lately, this has been bothering me a lot. You get into safe mode with networking (f8 at startup) and everything works fine. The connectivity is fine. Some people have slow browsing issues, they are sorted out in safe mode with networking. For some, the computer freezes up while browsing in normal mode, but works perfectly in safe mode with networking.

The next valid step in troubleshooting would be to perform a clean boot (How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state) i.e. disable all of the startup items and services.

But, I've notices, quite a few times, this does not work. People have performed scans and found no viruses (so this means that we cannot attribute the cause to spyware).

My question is : Is there something we can do if a clean boot does not work?

Windows 7 32 Bit Install Fails, 64 Bit Install Works?

Jul 5, 2012

I have an OLD computer with a 2.4 GHz processor and 1 GB ram, running XP 32 bit. I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7, So I tried to install 32 bit windows 7, knowing my computer couldn't handle 64 bit. However, at the end, it simply told me "Installation Failed" and reverted to XP, with all my files. I tried multiple times, then I tried installing 64 bit windows 7, and surprisingly, it worked. However, it is laggy beyond belief, so I tried installing 32 bit again. Again the installation failed. Now I'm thinking of reverting BACK to XP.

IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Windows 7x64, Clean Install?

Jan 30, 2012

I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs. I keep getting an error along the following lines: Quote: ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again. Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Windows 7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.

Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install

Stuck On Logo Screen After Install

Jul 15, 2012

Well it had been awhile since I reloaded windows and found out about win8 so I decided to try the new windows 8 release preview. After it installing it, It would go past the windows loading screen and leave a blank screen. Disappointed I went to load windows 7. Installed fine, but after the first restart it will not go past the windows logo screen.

When I say I'm reloading windows I am not formating my harddrive. I'm running a single harddrive setup and have 500gig of entertainment and miscellaneous I have not way to backup. I do the write over partition thing where it throws everything in a windows.old folder. I'm considering getting a solid state just to load windows to. Formatting the current drive is not an option.

I can boot to safe mode, but being this is a new install there is nothing I did to undo.

Windows 7 X64 Crash After Install

Nov 25, 2010

First, the hardware:

Mobo: Gigabyte CA-H55-USB3 (latest BIOS - F7)
CPU: i5-650
RAM: G-Skill DDR3 2x4GB (F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL)
HDD: Intel SSD X25-M 80GB (latest firmware)
Video: Onboard (using inetgrated graphics)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Now the problem:Insert disc and boot, no problem. Windows 7 sees the SSD and installs.Once install completes, PC reboots and attempts to complete installation. Another reboot occurs now and upon restarting a message pops up saying that an error occurred and installation cannot continue and to start it all again.Sometimes instead of rebooting it will flash different colours on the screen.BIOS is set to AHCI (i have tried IDE as well, same problem)Installing the OS to a normal SATA drive works OK.Have tried using Acronis to clone the disk but this doesn't work, i'm assuming the 100MB partition Windows 7 creates may causes some problems when imaging and redeploying.

Stuck On Boot Logo After Fresh Install

Sep 19, 2009

I wanted to dual boot Win 7 64 with my vista 32 but after the install completes and the computer reboots it hangs on the Win 7 boot logo and then just stays there until i turn off the power button. It's kinda like the problem when you have a USB plugged in and the boot logo hangs except there's nothing plugged into the comp. Reinstalled again the the same result. When I look at the win 7 drive from vista it looks like all the files are all there but it just keeps hanging on that logo =(. What should I do?

Also when i try and boot into safemode it hangs on "Classpnp.sys"

I've looked elsewhere and seen that people solved this problem by updating bios but I have the latest version of mine =(

I've tried EVERY boot option in F8 to no avail.

Windows Won't Install Hangs At Starting Windows Logo?

May 18, 2012

Okay so I may have buggered something up royally, but I took the CPU out of my mom's computer. Ended up dusting it out, because it was overheating. I wanted to try the phenom out in my board so I swapped them out. It is an HP pavilion a6755y se. I put an Athlon x2 in it and it wouldn't post. I took it out and put the phenom back in and now it won't boot to windows. I reformatted the entire drive and to no avail it still didn't work. I disconnected all USB's attached and I am using a PS/2 mouse and keyboard. This is really frustrating to me. It loaded the default bios settings from when I took the CMOS battery out. Had to change the Sata controller to IDE. When put on ACHI it gave me a screen full of colorful boxes that flashed and really scared me. I am very frustrated and I am wondering where I should go from here. My mom is pissed and she wants her computer back to normal conditionDunno how to flash the bios. It reads all the ram and the phenom that is in its socket so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Although, I can't get a livecd to run for the life of me. I dunno what I have done, but I would like to fix it asap even if it needs new parts. It did take quite a bit of force to get the heatsink off the cpu when I was dusting

Windows 7 Will Not Complete Install On SSD - Works Fine On HDD

Mar 6, 2012

New gaming PC project:
Asus Rampage Extreme IV
I7 3960x
32gb Gskill 2133 mhz
Sound Blaster Recon 3D
2 Corsair Force GT 60gb sata3
2 Corsair Force GT 120gb sata3
Windows 7 home 64bit w/anytime upgrade to Professional (Didn't know about the 16gb ram cap...)
9800 GTX video (ran outta money...)

The issue I'm having is everything seems fine till the first reboot, then I get errors about some random important file is missing or corrupt, please insert your DVD and repair windows or whatever the hell it says. The specified missing file is always different each install attempt (I have made about 30ish attemps so far in every drive configuration I could think of). Once it even said 'a system file' is missing or corrupt with no file specified. One attempt (120gb drives in raid0 with no other drives attached) did make it to the Windows 7 load screen, but then windows encountered an 'unknown error' and had to close while finalizing.

What I wanted to do was raid0 the 60's for boot and raid0 the 120's for games, but I can't do that because while this mb has 4 sata3 ports, only 2 ports are raid capable (Intel C600 controller) as the other 2 are on an ASMedia controller. As that is the least of my problems and only my fault for making assumptions before I buy crap, what I thought to do instead was install win on one 60 on the ASMedia sata3 controller in AHCI with OPROM enabled, use the other 60 for task file, and raid0 the 120's for game installs. At first I thought the problem was bad drives because it installs fine on my old HDDs, but all 4 drives DOA seems unlikely so I figure I'm doing something wrong.

There are multiple posts about issues with these drives on Corsair forums, however none of their solutions provide a fix. Currently I have Windows 7 installed on 2 seagate 160gb HDD's in raid0 on sata2 with both 60's on sata3 ASMedia and both 120's in raid0 on sata3 Intel C600 controller. I am convinced there is no problem with any drive as I have multiple games installed on the raid0 with task file on 1 60 and the other 60 is dedicated to ready boost. Honestly I have no idea what ready boost does, and with 32gb of ram it probably doesnt do much - but I can't think of anything else to do with the drive to see if I get any system hangs or issues.

After a week in this configuration I have had no issues whatsoever. I have run error checking from the properties tab in win for all drives, as well as chkdsk from command prompt and the disk checking utility in partedmagic which all came back no problems found. ATTO benchmark shows the the 60's around 475mb/s read/write and the 120's in raid0 are about 1100mb/s read/write. These SSD's are lightning fast. My HDD's are not - 275mb/s read/write in raid0 . Must needs faster boot.

I have tried installing win on each drive individually on each controller twice (16 attempts) and tried each set in raid0 a few times. Every attempt started out with a partition deletion and a secure erase using partedmagic AND sata3 controller in AHCI mode per Corsair forums. I have done Corsair's 1.3.3 firmware update to each drive. I have tried letting windows partition/format each drive during the install. I tried booting from my HDD's, then creating partition tables, allocating sapce, and formatting the SSD's from disk management, then installing win on the drives already setup. And a few other various things in different orders.

My steps for the 1 result that yeilded and actual Windows 7 loading screen after 1st reboot:
- 2 120gb ssd's on Intel C600 sata3
- Enter bios - change sata from raid to ahci - exit
-Boot with partedmagic bootdisk - deleted partitions both drives - system suspend for drive reset - secure erase both drives - shutdown
- Plugged in 2 160gb hdd to sata2
- Enter bios - change sata from ahci to raid - exit
- Enter raid setup utility - create raid0 on 120gb ssd's with 32kb strip - exit
- Boot win from hdd - create MBR partition table, allocate all avail space, format NTFS (not quick format) - shutdown
- Unplugged 2 160gb hdd
- Boot from Windows 7 install disk - install to SSD raid volume - 1st reboot yeilds load screen then 'unknown error', but I guess it was some-what better than windows failed to start due to whatever random file missing or corrupt.

Unable To Install Windows 7 - Clean Install

Jan 31, 2010

I'm an IT student who got a free Win 7 x64 disk from my school, and I am unable to do a clean install. My system specs are as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.12 Ghz
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB PCI-e
320 GB Western Digital HD SATA
1 Gb DDR2 1066 MHz and 2x2Gb DDR2 1066 MHz SDRAM

I set my boot sequence to boot from DVD-ROM drive first, and HD second. It goes to the "Windows is loading files" screen and gets hung up. I started the process and went to watch TV for an hour, and it is still on the "Windows is loading files" screen. I haven't gotten any error messages. I've unplugged all USB devices from my computer as I have seen on this forum that it has worked for some people.

edited to add: I originally had only 2 Gb of RAM, and it got hung up at the "Windows is loading files" screen. I thought it was getting hung up because I didn't have enough RAM, so I bought brand new 2 sticks of 2 Gb RAM. I took out one of the 1 Gb sticks and placed both of the 2 Gb of RAM...for a total of 5 Gigs. And, it is still doing the same thing.

Clean Install Of Windows 7 Pro Going As Bad As Possible

Feb 26, 2010

I didn't notice until I tried 2 burns. Then I resorted to downloading elsewhere and after 3 more downloads I got the right file(verified by hash) for 64 bit Windows Pro English. Burned the iso to my thumb drive fine, seemed to install fine and fast on this system: [code] Have 2 500GB spinpoint F3s in raid 0 and 1(setup in bios correctly and in raid menu bios fine)190GB raid 0, 375GB raid 1 using Intel raid after mostly done with install it said it had to restart so it did, but since I used a USB thumb drive it tried booting from that again instead of finishing install. I redid the install after fixing partitions and it seemed to go fine this time I removed the drive when it restarted. I was actually finally in windows 7!After installing a couple drivers I needed I restarted then things went bad.Could no longer enter windows normally because once it loaded the screen went blank. It automatically installed gfx drivers but the monitor drivers aren't installed and I was incapable of installing them after 1-2 hours trying to figure out a way. Monitor didn't show up in device manager.Monitor is an Acer2051w.I could get into safemode and try to mess with stuff.I was able to uninstall video drivers then boot into windows normally but it would automatically install the same driver and I wouldn't be able to get back in again. Automatic driver installation was off by the way.

So I couldn't fix this so I decided to reinstall Windows 7. The install went through fine, said it had to restart to finish up and after restarting the screen would stay blank forever. Doesn't seem to be installing properly now.So I can't get it installed again, and when it was it wasn't working properly. I have the monitor drivers even but no way of installing them so Windows is screwing up setting a bad resolution/ settings for the display that I can't fix hence the blank screen issue.

Clean Install Of Windows 7

I have a retail Upgrade DVD for Windows 7 Home Premium which I purchased. I did a clean install by wiping my hard drive using the format partition option on the Windows 7 DVD. I had Vista installed on the HDD before the upgrade so the installation program could "SEE" that I had a qualifying version of Windows to validate the upgrade key.Activation was successful. Now, I want to start a clean slate. However, I don't have Vista installed anymore, just Windows 7.Can I reinstall with an upgrade key on a blank, reformatted hard drive? Will activation pass?Or do I need to reformat with the installation program on the DVD?Finally, I made an image of my Vista operating system before I upgraded, do I need to restore the image so my Win 7 DVD can once again "SEE" the qualifying Windows version? There are forums out there that say different things, yes you can, no you can't, well it depends.

It seems bog system down. im also having other issues from random restarts and such freeze. Anyway what would be enough? Just make sure I don't run into the same problems (of like conflicting programs) messing up windows. Malware (installed) Microsoft essentials running all time and windows firewall is this enough? Or would it be better to just install one all in one program like.
