I have been using the MC in win7 to watch Live TV and it has been working fine. Then one day, I go to turn it on and I get a blue box that says "CANNOT RECORD" with an ok button. Press the OK button and noting happens. Meanwhile the TV is playing perfectly fine behind it. how to get rid of the box?
View 1 RepliesI have Windows 7 and have successfully recorded sound clips using the Accessories Sound Recorder. Next time I recorded a sound I carelessly plugged the mic into the earphone socket. Naturally I was unable to play back a previously recorded sound so I fiddled with the settings (I'm descended from a long line of idiots). Then the penny dropped and I plugged the mic into the correct socket, now because of my fiddling I can't record clips that will play back. I can play back my earlier clips.

I cannot record some of my Recorded TV content to DVD as I get an 'Unsupported File Type' error when trying to do so in Media Center. But other Recorded TV shows burn fine without this error.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and know why this is happening?

i'm using vlc to record a part of my favorite videos so i can upload them on Internet. there's a small problem, when i try to record hd videos i get a crappy quality, however the original video has a very good quality, consider the following video:
the original video, the one that i record this part from is having a very good quality (hd 720p), it's in mkv format and i guess it's x264. why do i get this quality?
i did the same thing with a non-hd video and it worked better: how can i record with the best quality? at least a quality as same as the original one?
I have an HP laptop with built in webcam and although I've use WMP to record myself there's no recording of sound. My computer plays the sound and it works well with skype.

I have downloaded Mixcraft 5 which seems pretty good but the sound quality is pretty bad (sounds distant, like I'm in another room). Can anyone recommend an additional soundcard? Would this make a difference? My budget is not great - £20 to £40. Is it possible/worth it to upgrade to a better soundcard from the factory installed one (I guess its on board) for this price?

I also have a 500Gb HHD that i install most of my game on.The program i use to record call "Fraps" i install it on the SSD drive, and the game on the HHD drive.I try to record a game play while i play and my FPS went from 60fps to 20 or so, which make it kinda spike lag a bit. The video file i save on the HHD drive, but i notice when i save it to the SSD drive is recored smoothly. I only have 112Gb that not alot for recording?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAbout two weeks ago, Windows Media Center stopped changing channels automatically when a program is set to record. The guide displays "this program will record as part of a series request" or "this program will be recorded", just like normal. I will even get a notification that media center will change the channel to record. However, it never changes and does not record.
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot: I have uninstalled the tuner(physically) & re-installed Updated the drivers for the tuner Ran complete MCE setup again Completely removed device & drivers via control panel Would this be a MCE problem or a tuner card issue?

I want to be able to record the sound playing out of my computer and then save it as some kind of audio file and do what I wish with it. Audacity sounded like what I am supposed to use but I can't figure out how to make it work if it would even work for me. I am using digital coaxial out for my speakers but I thought this shouldn't affect the recording. I have my speakers hooked up with direct analog 6 channel connections as well. So I have a digital S/PDIF interface I could record from but it does nothing really - it only works when I play DTS or Dolby Digital movies.

Before I reformatted, I had a shortcut pinned to my taskbar that opened my sound recorder and playback controls so I didnt have to go through control panel to access them. just one click on the shortcut and I could access the record and playback tabs. Unfortunately I have forgotten how I did this. I read it somewhere but I didn't make a note of it. Now every time I want to change the way I listen to sound or record sound I have to go through CP to get to them. I know I can pin the control panel to the taskbar and open the controls from there but that means 2 mouse clicks where I used to do it with just the one click. how to put these shortcuts on my taskbar.

View 2 Replies View RelatedToday I just used a removal tool by Symantec to remove the virus Tidserv Activity on one of my laptops. I restarted the computer and it wouldn't boot. Now I need to restore the MBR since the MBR was infected.It's a Dell laptop. I found that the laptop has System Recovery preinstalled. The instructions Symantec gave me to remove the virus says to use the Windows 7 CD-ROM to restore the MBR, which I don't have.I do however have a Windows 7 re-installation DVD, if reinstallation makes a difference.Can I use the re-installation DVD and is that safer? Or is it okay to just go to System Recovery since it's already pre-installed?My third question is after I decide which way to go about tackling this issue, how do I manually restore the MBR? I've faintly entered "fixmbr" command in the command prompt but it didn't work, basically saying it wasn't a valid command.

First hard disk with Master Boot Record failed (had an install of windows xp on it) - have now removed faulty disk, but PC will not boot due to Master Boot Record not being on second disk.How do I go about re-creating the MBR on this Windows 7 install disk ?Tried googling, and as usual nobody seems to have a quick / easy fix - and tried Windows 7 repair options, doesn't work (doesn't even recognise Windows 7 is on the disk).So, I have a non-bootable PC... with access to other PC's and laptops around me (also with windows 7 on), so could plug the disk in to one of those via usb dock station etc...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 32 bit. I am using a Hauppage HVR 2250 dual tuner card.What is odd is that a few channels will only let me watch them live if I record them. As soon as you hit record you can watch the channel. Otherwise it says "service is unavailable".I can even hit record then stop the record and I can keep watching the channel. Also one other channel works live but when you hit record it says"service is unavailable".It was not always like this as every channel scanned and found worked flawlessly. We have a great outdoor antanna and are very close to the TV towers (around 5 miles away). So I highly doubt it's a signal strength issue all the sudden.

I did a search on any new files and even noticed one of my shows recording one night, so I know it is not the cable company.There's plenty of room on the hard drive and when I manually record and stop recording, it actually DOES save and place it in the recorded TV folder.It must have something to do with the automated recording feature and even though it seems a coincidence that this started when I changed my cable plan... well, I just don't know. I also did a rescan of the cable network and channels.
