I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled win 7. Before I reformatted, I had a shortcut pinned to my taskbar that opened my sound recorder and playback controls so I didnt have to go through control panel to access them. just one click on the shortcut and I could access the record and playback tabs. Unfortunately I have forgotten how I did this. I read it somewhere but I didn't make a note of it. Now every time I want to change the way I listen to sound or record sound I have to go through CP to get to them. I know I can pin the control panel to the taskbar and open the controls from there but that means 2 mouse clicks where I used to do it with just the one click. how to put these shortcuts on my taskbar.
I'm trying to record my cell phone messages onto my computer as mp3's. All the audio capture software i've found will do this but, not at the same time 'play' the line in audio (which i need to hear how to control my voice mail system).I can't use a splitter on the audio as it's a crappy old phone and the output is pretty low as-is.
As the title suggests, I`m trying to pin a one-click shortcut to the taskbar of a Windows 7 system for My Music.I can create and pin a shortcut to Libraries but not directly to the music folder and right clicking on the My Music icon doesn`t give `pin to taskbar` as an option.I`ve attempted to make a new shortcut (right-click on desktop and choose New... ) and entered the path to the music folder but again, I can`t seem to work out how to pin it.
Is it possible to pin anything to a program's shortcut in the taskbar?EX: I have Photoshop in my taskbar. Is it possible to pin some other adobe applications to it so when I right-click the PS icon, they appear in the jumplist?
Is it possible to unpin a program on your taskbar and turn it into a shortcut on the desktop or anywhere else? Or should I say; can I move a shortcut out of a pin to another location? In previous operating systems I could just drag a shortcut almost anywhere you wanted.
I'm trying to find out if there is a keyboard shortcut to move focus to the Address toolbar when it is added to the taskbar. (Again, this is the address bar in the taskbar, not the address bar in an explorer or browser window for which ALT+D is the shortcut.) I've searched Microsoft's list of Keyboard shortcuts, but did not find any information. And my Google searches have not found anything.
Somehow, as usual, I deleted all the shortcuts that I had on my taskbar. In the process or reinstalling the shortcuts, the Revouninstaller shortcut icon just wouldn't attach to the taskbar. There was no pin to taskbar in the content menu.?
I`m trying to pin a speech recognition shortcut to the taskbar of a Windows 7 system so that the program starts when I click it.At the moment, I can only get as far as creating a shortcut that opens with the `Configure your Speech Recognition` window and I can`t seem to work out where the actual program starts from. I thought if I could find the exe file, I could create a shortcut from there and guessed it`d be in C/Windows/system32 but unless it`s camouflaged, it doesn`t seem to be there.
i downloaded a video file and when I checked the folder it was downloaded to it was not there. I then used windows explorer to locate the file and it found it. However, I got this error message "this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shorcut will no longer work properly."
Is there a method/hack or a 3rd-party program that allows the user to hide the taskbar by dragging its top border line downwards, after un-locking the taskbar? I remember I could do that under Win9x.
I often have to create Shortcuts to executable code. I used Shortcut Extension - Remove or Restore to get Code: SED.exe instead of the Windows 7 default Code: SED.exe - Shortcut as name of the newly created shortcut.
But I would prefer to have just 'SED'. Any way to do this automatically?
I think it might matter that I do not hide extensions ['Hide extensions for known files' (Option in Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View)].
So about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.
I have a client that has laptop with windows 7 Pro. He had a faulty network card, so I have added a new, usb network card. That said, He can not pin anything to taskbar or start menu. I cleared both folders of shortcuts(567 of them) but to no avail. He also has no options under his desktop Context menu for New. He is also using a roaming profile, of which I will disable next time I am there. I have a feeling that might be the issue. I did scour the internet trying all the usual suggestions, but do vaguely remember something about an entry in cache somewhere that if it is too big or corrupt, it could cause this behavior. I am unable to find that post anywhere now.I mention the network card because one post had taskbar issues until he disabled his faulty network card. I have disabled the faulty network card.
I have a fresh install of win 7 64 bit Home Premium. When I right click on a shortcut and open its properties dialog, the only tabs i get are "General", "Compatibility", "Security", "Details", and "Previous Versions", but no "Shortcut" tab. I have searched the Web and there are very few instances of this problem and no solution. I have tried everything I can think of with no success.
I have been using the MC in win7 to watch Live TV and it has been working fine. Then one day, I go to turn it on and I get a blue box that says "CANNOT RECORD" with an ok button. Press the OK button and noting happens. Meanwhile the TV is playing perfectly fine behind it. how to get rid of the box?
I have Windows 7 and have successfully recorded sound clips using the Accessories Sound Recorder. Next time I recorded a sound I carelessly plugged the mic into the earphone socket. Naturally I was unable to play back a previously recorded sound so I fiddled with the settings (I'm descended from a long line of idiots). Then the penny dropped and I plugged the mic into the correct socket, now because of my fiddling I can't record clips that will play back. I can play back my earlier clips.
Is there any way I can record a series, have it record the reruns, but have it not record the same rerun twice? That way I can catch up on series that I have missed and not have to delete multiple episodes.
Maybe it does this automatically as I haven't recorded much yet, but I'm just making sure.
I cannot record some of my Recorded TV content to DVD as I get an 'Unsupported File Type' error when trying to do so in Media Center. But other Recorded TV shows burn fine without this error.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and know why this is happening?
i'm using vlc to record a part of my favorite videos so i can upload them on Internet. there's a small problem, when i try to record hd videos i get a crappy quality, however the original video has a very good quality, consider the following video:
the original video, the one that i record this part from is having a very good quality (hd 720p), it's in mkv format and i guess it's x264. why do i get this quality?
i did the same thing with a non-hd video and it worked better: how can i record with the best quality? at least a quality as same as the original one?
I have an HP laptop with built in webcam and although I've use WMP to record myself there's no recording of sound. My computer plays the sound and it works well with skype.
If I want to record sound from PC I use Stereo Mixer and If I want to record sound from me I use Mic But can I do both at the same time?I've got Realtek HD?

I want to video record my working steps in my screen. Is there any windows built-in tool I can use to video recording my computer screen ?(Yes, I know there is other alternative to do it, suhc as ask my mum to hand-held my camera to capture my screen during I am working. I've got an Acer Aspire AX3900. I've just started writing songs again and want to use my computer for recording. I have downloaded Mixcraft 5 which seems pretty good but the sound quality is pretty bad (sounds distant, like I'm in another room). Can anyone recommend an additional soundcard? Would this make a difference? My budget is not great - £20 to £40. Is it possible/worth it to upgrade to a better soundcard from the factory installed one (I guess its on board) for this price?
I recently bought a Intel SSD 112Gb drive and install my window 7 ult. OS on it. I also have a 500Gb HHD that i install most of my game on.The program i use to record call "Fraps" i install it on the SSD drive, and the game on the HHD drive.I try to record a game play while i play and my FPS went from 60fps to 20 or so, which make it kinda spike lag a bit. The video file i save on the HHD drive, but i notice when i save it to the SSD drive is recored smoothly. I only have 112Gb that not alot for recording?
Why doesn't WMC allow you to record live radio? What's the difference between that and recording live TV? When listening to live radio, the Record button is grayed-out.
About two weeks ago, Windows Media Center stopped changing channels automatically when a program is set to record. The guide displays "this program will record as part of a series request" or "this program will be recorded", just like normal. I will even get a notification that media center will change the channel to record. However, it never changes and does not record.
Here is what I have done to troubleshoot: I have uninstalled the tuner(physically) & re-installed Updated the drivers for the tuner Ran complete MCE setup again Completely removed device & drivers via control panel Would this be a MCE problem or a tuner card issue?
