Cannot Print From Network Printer On Windows 7 Laptop?
Jan 24, 2013
I am not able to print in program(ie works, notepad ect.) to my network printer. The printer is a Kodak ESP 5250 connected via usb to my desktop cpu. Desktop is hp running win vista, laptop is an hp running Windows 7. All printer sharing is enabled. I have another laptop( aser) running Windows 7, it's hooked up the same way and it prints just fine. Here's the tricky part, I can get my hp laptop to print a test page from within the kodak program, but it won't print from within any other program. It acts like it spooled but then nothing come out.
I have installed a HP office jet 6700 on my network my laptop Windows 7 X 32 can see the printer and print. However when I tried to install the printer on my wife's laptop I cannot get it to connect at all. The printer can be seen on the network however why I try to print nothing goes to queue. I have check spooler service and it is on.We use to have an old HP photosmart but it stopped working. I bought a HP5510 and had the same problem now I have same issue with the HP6700 and off course HP support cannot explain why this is happening.
I have a LAN with 2 laptops and one desktop connected. The desktop has an HP Photosmart D7160 connected via a USB port. Both laptops have had Windows 7 installed for several months. The desktop was recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. After the upgrade, one of the laptops will still print, but the other laptop will not. The correct printer driver has been installed on both laptops. Reinstalling the printer driver on the desktop did not help. When the desktop had Vista installed, all printing functions were fine. I suspect a network problem, but don't know how to attack it. All computers are running Kaspersky Internet Security. I have tried disabling Kaspersky on the problem laptop, but no help.
I have just installed Windows 7 32 bit on a computer with is hosting a HP Laserjet 1600 printer to which I would like to print to from my laptop running Windows 64 bit. I have added the network printer from the host machine but it won't print. Both systems File and Printer sharing is turned on in the advance sharing settings for both computers and I can share files OK. I have also allow Print permissions in the Security tab under the networked printer properties. However the spooled document print when I restart the Host computer?
I have a homegroup set up with a desktop and a latop, 2 printers which are physically connected to the desktop. When i open homegroup to see what devices are connected the 2 pc`s and the 2 printers show up but when i go to print something through the homegroup from the laptop only 1 printer shows up to print from even though both printers show up in the homegroup?
my laptop runs windows7 and is connected by wireless to my home PC running windows XP. The network printer is a brother DCP-145C and up until 2 weeks ago was prinitng from both computers well. My laptop recognises the printer but the printer does not print anything requested by the laptop. The PC prints perfectly. Sharing appears to be set up correctly.
i have a Toshiba laptop running win 7 I'm on a network where the printer is plugged into a desktop running win XP via a USB cable. If I print using the network printer from the laptop i get blue and pink lines where black should be.I have not tried to print a picture so i don't know the results of that.
My Dell Windows 7 now cannot print or add a new printer. When I try I receive a message" Windows can not add printer the local spooer service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine." Been on services and trying other things with out a printer.
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit computer which I will call the main PC. An HP LaserJer is directly connected to it, and shows up as the default printer. About a month ago, it stopped responding to print jobs. They show up in the "jobs pending" list, but do not print. If I try to print to that printer from another PC on the network, the document shows up in the pending list, but then says "Error" and will not print either. If I connect the printer to a different PC, it will print. If I try to print to the printer connected to another PC from the main PC, it will not print. The print spooler is running. There are only restore points from the past week or so, and this started happening over a month ago
I have a HP PSC 3550 connected to my Mac and I have successfully added this printer to Windows 7.
I am able to print a test page from Windows 7. I am able to print from Openoffice. However, I cannot print from Wordpad or Notepad.
This is the event log entry:
The document Untitled - Notepad, owned by Mark, failed to print on printer \MACS-COMPUTERHP PSC 2350 series. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler. Data type: NT EMF 1.008. Size of the spool file in bytes: 1184. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \SEGO. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 0. The operation completed successfully.
Note that if I connect the printer directly to my Windows 7 machine I can print from Wordpad and Notepad.
Some of our office computers will not print to our networked printer and the message says "toner low - offline". Other computers can print to the printer at the same time with no problem.
Printer plugged into Win7 box - how to print from remote XP machine? describes an original difficulty I had getting remote computers (laptops and desktops) to print to a USB printer connected to my Windows 7 box. Read far enough and you'll see that I solved that problem using Networking issue - Win7 printer, XP remote machines.Fast forward 13 or so months. Since that time I have replaced the printer, I've had a motherboard and processor issue with my box (since fixed), and no interruption of things working as they should. My printer - Canon ip4800 series - is USB hardwired to my Windows 7 computer, and the other home computers - two Windows 7 laptops, an XP box, and an XP netbook - can print to the printer, and view files on my Windows 7 machine, over our wireless home network. And that's been constant through the changes described.
Then yesterday, for no known reason, my daughter's Windows 7 laptop stopped being able to print. She'd send jobs to the correct printer, but they'd just queue up, with the queue visible from her machine, but not when I looked at the printer from my machine (that is looking at the print queue from her machine shows the jobs, but looking at it from mine shows no jobs).Nothing I did would result in stuff from her machine, from any application, to go to the printer.I finally deleted the printer from her machine, figuring I'd just add it back.I try adding a printer to the laptop, it doesn't find the printer on the list of available printers. When I try adding it by typing the name - \mywin7canon ip4800 series - that fails. When I look at "network" from her laptop, my computer shows up, but if I click on it, Windows says it can't connect.
When I type ping her_computer from a DOS box, it can't find it - but when I type ping any_other_computer it finds those. Her laptop can get on the internet from our home wireless network. All the other computers in the house - Windows 7 and XP - can access shared files on my PC, and more importantly, print across the network to my USB printer. Please, patiently and precisely, guide me through stuff to check on my PC and her laptop, to get this working again. I've been through the network and sharing center on my PC and the settings are correct.Again, as it is right now, my printer is not defined on her laptop.Final, cro-magnon- level question here: If I did a system restore on her laptop, back to a point when it had been able to print, might that fix things?
My computer was just updated from XP to WIn 7 and now my printer will not print envelopes. It used to automatically but now it says to change settings and when I do, it does not recognize it.
I have just upgraded the 8 pcs in my office from XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro 32bit and I've encountered printer sharing issues. I have a local mono laser connected to my PC by USB. I've shared this and others have been able to add the printer and on occasion print to it, it usually works when they want to print text to A4 but when they want to do labels or envelopes they usually sit in the queue and don't print. This is not an issue we had on XP and the document templates haven't changed. I don't think it is an issue with the printer (I've replaced it with a new one to make sure), I don't think it is an issue with the documents. I think it is an issue with Windows 7 and was wondering if there is a known issue or fix. The computers are connected over a domain not workgroup.
i have 3 desktop..two PC is having a win7 32bit and the other one is 64bit..i install the printer LX-300+II(dot matrix) on the 64bit win7...then of course the three desktop is on a network...the 32bit win7 is the admin..then the 64bit win7 and the 32bit admin can print on the dot matrix..but the other 32bit cannot..both of those 3 desktop are shared..workgroup name is same..sharing properties is same for both 32bit..and both 32bit can connect to the printer and can detect..when i tried to print its just qeue and comes with the word "spooling"..but when i tried printing on a laser printer it prints..but on the dot matrix it cannot print...
ways i tried:
1.check the port/ethernet the UTP cables plug out plug in and wait like around 20 secs. then connect again. 2.reinstall the driver on the 32bit that doesnt print. 3.remove device then add printer again. 4.did a windows update. 5.check if same workgroup. 6.check if shared and with same location and can access both 3 desktop. 7.check the permissions. 8.restart the computer. 9.troubleshooting the printer. 10.make sure there's a network connection.
IP address doesn't have because its a USB port and not suported by the OS..3 desktop on a network...two 32bit win7 one win7 64bit.32bit and 64 bit can print on the dot matrix and laser printer but the other 32bit cannot print on the matrix but can print on the laser..when printing its just qeue with spooling..
I got a new computer powered by Windows 7 which was upgraded to Win 7 Pro. I have it attached to a Xerox Phaser 8400 printer. The printer will not print in color when i use the word pad or Print Master software. It's own self test it prints color so I assume there is a setting I can't find.
I've just taken delivery of a new windows 7 PC, with i5-2500k/8gb/SSD/1TB HDD, Asus p8z68-v lx motherboard. Everything was going fine with setting up until it came to printers.I have 3 printers connected - Brother HL2030 laser, HP Photosmart D6160 and Epson Stylus photo R2400 - and NONE of them will work. All three came up with "your device is installed correctly etc etc" message. I can't print documents or even a test page. I've downloaded and installed Brother's W7 driver - zilch. HP site says you lose most of the functionality of toollbox etc but "the windows 7 default driver should work" - it doesn't. Likewise the Epson. I've tried 3 or 4 times to reinstall them all, deleting each first from the control panel, and absolutely no joy.I'm sure I must be doing something wrong but can't figure
I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 and installed the printer driver for the HP 1018 printer, and it prints from word, excel, pdf, etc., but it will not print from the Internet. It just prints blank pages.
Suddenly (two years since Windows 7 was installed), the printer will not print a document. However, printer (H-P Laser 6P) WILL print test page. The steps I followed are:
Computer #1 - Dual boots with XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 RC1 7100 with Konica Monolta 2400W printer attached via USB and shared.
Computer #2 - Windows XP Pro SP3.
Computer #2 Sucessfully installed networked printer and prints normally when Computer #1 is booted to XP. When computer #1 is booted to Windows 7 it automatically detects and installs networked printer once network was correctly setup but gets error message when trying to print.
HP Deskjet printer won't print with USB on new PC. Prints fine with parallel cable on old PC. Why won't it print now with a new PC using USB connection? I have a new USB cable.
My HP930c printer won't print in colour. Was working OK till I elected to print something in black and white. I have ticked the colour box under Preferences and clicked OK. I have tried two brand new HP original colour cartridges and still it won't print a test page or a document in colour.
HP deskjet 2050 print/scan/copy (not an all-in-one; about two months old.New color cartridge installed and alignment page is ok.Greyscale is turned OFF.Only get black& white prints.....
I have a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and A desktop running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. The printer is connected via usb to the desktop its an Epson sx400 (not wireless)My error started about a month ago, it began with me having a problem changing the orientation in word 2010 from portrait to landscape kept getting a not responding error. When I googled this someone advised to check resource manager to find out what was causing the error word seemed to be waiting on splwow64.exe.Thought this might be just word so tried open office software same issue.Realised I could not print any longer from laptop to printer over the network as well resource manager spoolsv.exe causing the hang.I have racked my brains to think of what might have changed a few weeks ago cant think of anything same computers, same printer.
