Whenever Boot Up Computer It Shows Advent Logo-screen / Where Can Access Boot Menu
May 7, 2012I am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual.It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.

Last night I installed Windows 7 (x64) on a separate partition.
Anytime I had tried this in the past, using Vista, it always detected the Windows XP partition, and gave me a boot menu with "Earlier Version of Windows" option to boot to.
This is not so with Windows 7.
How can I get the boot menu to show both options, to boot to XP or to Windows 7?

May 6, 2012I got this new computer and at some point I went into the boot option to try and install my PC to it's factory settings but when I opened up the boot option it showed something like this but not exactly:
1. MC43689SGDAL7
2. MATSHITADVD-RAM
This is very random and unusual and I have found no fix and as you should know it should look something like this:
1. CD/DVD Drive
2. USB
3. Hard Drive
4. something else
Even in my Bios menu it shows the same thing and I cannot change it so I can't boot from a USB or CD, etc.

Aug 8, 2009i did a terrible mistake. i installed windows 7 first on one drive and then i install windows xp on separate drive. and when i restart there was no boot menu to choose the OS from list only windows xp started straight away. i did not knew about EasyBCD . and i put my windows 7 DVD and run recovery. now i can goto windows 7 but xp is missing again. is there any way i will not install xp from beginning and windows 7 can add boot menu in startup to choose xp or 7.

May 4, 2012I am doing an upgrade from XP to Windows 7. I have done this numerous times with no problems until today. I put in the disc for the upgrade and loaded the Boot Device Menu (F12). Then I selected Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive and I can hear the CD spinning but it does nothing. It wont load and the 'Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive' option stays highlighted. I just installed XP doing this exact same method because I installed a new harddrive and I had no problems. It only occurred once I put in the W7 disc.

Aug 30, 2012I have an eMachines E528 with an Intel Celeron 900 processor. I got the blue screen of death and was able to use the Windows system repair disk to reinstall windows 7. However, while trying to "update" Windows 7 with the SP1 update through the windows update tool, I got the blue screen of death again. This time I cannot boot the computer. I've tried a recovery disk, a system repair disk, a new clean copy of windows 7, and a Partition Wizard bootable CD. Everytime it gets to the point of loading ANY menu, it freezes up and does nothing for hours. I have spent so much time researching and trying things from other forums, and I have gotten nowhere. get a fresh copy of windows on this computer? or get me into the menu that allows me to restore from a system repair disk? I have even tried an "eRecovery" without even going into Windows by pressing ALT F10 at the logo screen as the computer is booting up, and I still get hung up while the application is trying to load the menu options.

Apr 29, 2011I have Windows 7 and XP installed on separate partitions of one drive. I also had a 2nd hard drive, for backing up data, which I think has died so I disconnected it. This machine used to automatically boot into Windows 7, but now it goes to XP. There was nothing installed onto the 2nd drive so I have no idea why disconnecting that would change anything. I've checked, and the Windows 7 files are still available on the working hard drive.Previously, if I wanted to boot into XP instead of 7, I would go into the BIOS and change the boot order of the 2 hard drives, and then it would automatically boot into the other OS.One other thing I remember, is that when I had the Windows 7 loaded up, it showed the Windows 7 partition as being the C drive. When I have XP turned on, it shows the Windows 7 partition as being D drive and XP as being in the C drive.

Jul 16, 2009Ok, i have windows 7 already installed fine on my 2x raptor raided drives, i decided to install xp 32 on a new partition on the 2x raided raptors, after using nlite to integrate my raid drivers into the new xp iso (no floppy) it installed fine on the new partition.
However, i saw no boot menu on reboot and every time xp would load by default with f8 showing no other OS to boot. I then ran the windows 7 64 dvd and attempted a repair of startup option, it failed 5 times in a row quoting a corrupt boot sector.
I was all ready to give up when suddenly it just repaired it after the 6th attempt, i did nothing different but it said to reboot so i did and to my incredible relief my win 7 install started booting again.
But again, no boot menu and this time the xp boot has been lost! Is there any way i can manually add something to get a dual boot function running?

now when i start windows 7 it starts with vista green bar not with windows 7 new logo..

Previous Computer Setup:
I had a dual boot with XP and Vista that worked perfectly (both OS's were on separate HD's and worked / booted correctly.)
Drive C: --------> Vista (Now Windows 7)
Drive D: --------> Windows XP
Problem:
After upgrading my Vista to Windows 7 (Via clean install) I lost my boot menu to choose XP. Now everytime I flip the power it boots DIRECTLY into Windows 7.
How do I recover my boot screen option so I can boot back into XP when I need to?

BSOD Flash, Then Sent To Boot Options Menu?
Aug 7, 2012I have a relatively new computer, but I recently started having a BSOD problem. When I attempt to start windows normally I can get as far as the home screen, but then the BSOD flashes (too quickly to read) and I'm sent to the boot options menu.
Computers are not exactly a strength of mine, but I can follow instructions and would love to have some help getting my computer back to normal!
Cannot Select Second Boot Drive - Menu Locked?
Oct 15, 2011I have Windows 7 on my primary drive and XP on my secondary drive. I still use XP as I'm in the process of transferring all my program install files etc to an external USB then I will put them on windows 7. I was able to manually select which OS I wanted the system to boot into by simply pressing ESC button during POST and then the boot menu would come up. Press your down arrow on keyboard and then you boot into XP no problem.
It is worth mentioning since that I actually went into BIOS and enabled "smart boot" which brought that menu up automatically so I no longer had to press ESC. So, I go to boot into XP today (more files to backup etc) and keyboard is not doing anything. It boots into Windows 7. Now, I wanted it to boot XP as this is secondary and what I do notice is that when I press arrow down (to get to secondary hard drive line) the screen flashes like its registering an input, but, does nothing.
I even disabled smart boot option just to be sure and even borrowed a mates wired keyboard. Windows 7 installed it no trouble and I tried to boot XP with the wired one (my keyboard is wireless but it does work as I can get into BIOS) and even that failed. That then tells me that it is not hardware related and both keyboards work and let me access the boot menu. Why then is the boot menu locked? Don't want to have to keep swapping master and slave channels everytime I boot just to get into XP.
