sometimes when my computer goes to sleep, my audio drivers crash. This is only sometimes, most of the time it's good. I tried updating the driver, but the updater crashed during the update, and now I get this screen every time I power on my PC.
View 1 RepliesMy ASUS P8Z68-Vpro Windows 7(64) system will go to sleep manually (from the shutdown menu). I have power management set to turn off the monitor and go to sleep after one minute. After a minute the monitor turns off, but the computer fan keeps on going. (What used to happen is the computer would go to sleep, the fan would turn off, but then a second or two later the computer would wake up by itself. It's possible this has changed because I'm playing with various settings). In any event, I have never gotten it to go to sleep on its own and stay there.
Even when I tell it to go to sleep manually on rare occasions it has also woken up unprovoked. On the local area connection (Intel 82579) I've turned off all wake up things (Wake on lan, wake on link, etc.) I've allowed windows to sleep even when sharing multimedia. I've turned off wake on USB. The keyboard and mouse are now the only devices in the device manager that claim to have the ability to wake the computer up. I suspect the problem may be the D-Link DWA-556 wireless card (PCI slot), although it doesn't report that it has the ability to wake up the computer.
But a few times when I have gotten the computer to go to sleep I was able to wake it up merely by screwing the antenna into the connector on the back. Even though the wireless connection had been disabled from the network and sharing control panel. Does this indicate that my wireless card is defective, or is there some setting on it that I don't know about. Are there any other reasons the computer may not go to sleep or immediately wake up? (I have looked in the event viewer and haven't seen anything suspicious.) Does windows have a log somewhere that could tell me what is waking the computer up (or keeping it from sleeping.)
I recently installed Windows 7 (32-bit). I love everything about it except one major thing that seems to be a common problem, from the research I've done.Whenever the computer sleeps or goes in to standby mode, about 80% of the time when I come out of it, it loses the network connection. I will get one of two messages: "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP address" or "Local area conncetion doesn't have a valid IP configuration." (It's usually the first message).I've Googled this several times and I've tried the fixes. I've tried searching for Bonjour (according to my Services list, it's disabled). I've tried setting the IPv6 off in the TCP/IP settings. I've tried changing the Wireless Adapter Setting's Power Save Mode to Maximum Performance. None of this has prevented this issue from happening.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently (for the last few months), I've been having a problem where if I sleep/hibernate my laptop (Dell XPS 15), whether that be by shutting the lid or manually, upon waking I receive a BSOD after 5-20 minutes. The message presented is a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FALIURE. Interestingly, until the crash my USB ports also stop working completely.I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, which is NOT the original install, but a new one made from a retail CD. I installed this straight after getting the laptop (July 2010), and had no problems until mid-March.

Well essentially my system will reboot anytime it sits for an extended period of time (about 15 to 20 Minutes). My computer will go into standby mode. I do have it set for my computer to never sleep but only my screens. I have followed the BSOD instructions and do and those to attach to this post. Here is the additional information regarding this problem... Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? - x64 - the original installed OS on the system? Yes - an OEM or full retail version?Full retail version - What is the age of system (hardware)? Eh, varies video cards about a year old, memory and hardrives are about the same length of time. Chip is fairly new within a few months. - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) OS was freshly reinstalled on 11/17/2011. All drivers for all pieces of hardware in my machine have had the newest drivers updated, including my video cards. I have also done the BIOS update for both of my video cards available from Palit. Oddly enough i can play Starcraft II for hours and no issue with rebooting... only when it sits for an extended period of time as mentioned earlier.
View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday when I got home I could not get my headset working on my PC. It's a USB headset (Tritton AX720) but it works perfectly on my Xbox 360. There is sound coming from the headset but it is really quiet. My speakers to my computer work fine, it's just when I plug the headset in I'm not getting sound. I was working on it for about an hour last night and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. So far I've tried to make it my default audio device, I did a system restore to a few days ago, and messed with the setting a little bit. This headset has worked on my PC for about 6-8 months up until yesterday. By the way my audio for my computer is still working perfectly. It is only when I plug my headset in that it isn't working properly. I'm completely lost on what is wrong.

I tried google'ing for this but I'm not sure how to word it, This is what happens: I could be doing whatever on my computer, then once in a while, randomly shuts itself off; but not completely. My monitor goes into DVI power saving mode (like when the computer sleeps), keyboard / mouse shut off, my external soundcard is un-synced, but the fans are all running. It restarted itself the first time after about 10 minutes, but every time after that I was too impatient to wait.

Problem is that both the monitor and the TV goes to sleep after about 3 hours displaying. The splitters input connection is from a docking station from where I dock my dell laptop. i can't seem to figure out how to use any program to record my computer speakers...in other words i want to record the audio of this Internet video because it has epic music i can't find anywhere else. when i use the pre-installed programs "sound recorder" no sound actually records. when i use wmm i cannot choose audio mix, only realtek high definition line in or something like that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing my headset when I talk on Skype/Ventrillo/Mumble, when I transmit, everyone can hear my computers audio. This isn't the mic picking up bleed from the headphones, they can actually hear everything I hear very clearly, whether its in game sounds or music. I have almost narrowed this down to either my Motherboard, or Windows 7.
Hardware info:
Motherboard : ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Soundcard - Creative Xi-Fi Extreme
Headset : Razor Carcharias
What I have tried:
- Uninstalled all Creative software, removed card from computer and activated on board sound instead.
- Activated both sound cards, plugged in the headphones into the X-Fi card, and the Mic into the on board.
- Made sure I have the latest drivers installed for both Xi-Fi and on board (creative driver is pretty ancient)
- Used a completely separate microphone not attached to the headset.
- Made sure all recording devices are switched off except the Mic.
- Tried every kind of input and output volume controls, adjusting these does not seem to make a difference.
- Made sure Stereo Mix is disabled (this option was only available when using the on board audio, not seeing this option for the Xi-Fi card)
- Listen to device disabled.
I've also tried 2 other headsets and issue still persists. Is there something I can do within Windows 7 to disable this from happening?
Whenever I'm on a voice chat program, my computer's audio (games, music, browser audio, etc) plays straight through my mic. I've muted the stereo mix and CD mix channels, but that does nothing. If I play music and watch my mic in the audio devices, the audio level on the mic itself is spiking, as if the music is going directly to the headset.

This may be unrelated, but in order to power on my computer, not only do I have to press the power button, I have to go to the back of the computer and toggle the power supply switch off/on very quickly in order for the computer to even boot.

It rather chooses to record exactly what my headset records. It may be worthy to note that I think it may have stopped working because of my new headset (Turtle Beach X11 series). However, going on this theory, I tried to disable the microphone and even use a different kind of microphone, but it still did not work.As I mentioned, I've tried disabling the mic and have looked through the options available on Stereo Mix and just can't seem to figure out why this is happening.
