Computer Crashes When Attempting To Access Any Portable Device
Feb 11, 2012I'm not 100% where to put this but I have a peculiar problem with my portable hard drive. None of them work on my computer (with Windows 7 64bit). It is no problem with my hard drives as they work perfectly well and instantly on my Notebook that holds Windows XP.
The interesting thing that comes with them is that when plugged in, they do peculiar things to the system. The drive sometimes shows up but is inaccessible and crashes when I try and access it. Scanning it for errors also sits in limbo and it being plugged in has even led to it preventing windows updates from backing up system restore. Other times it doesn't show up at all and when I disconnect the drive it asks me whether or not I want to format it.
In several hours I managed to access the portable hard drive once only to be blocked by the absurd "discovering items" glitch that renders copying files impossible.
Yet about a week or so ago it was fine. It worked with no problems at all. I would pass on some hardware details but my computer is tooling around restarting at the moment.

Missing Plug And Play Software Device Enumerator
Aug 15, 2011My Computer: HP G60-235DX. Windows 7 64-Bit. Basically, I have no Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator under system devices in the device manager. This is causing problems with other things as well (I am pretty certain the below problems are caused by the missing enumerator. How can I reinstall it? I've tried to reinstall the chipset from HP but to no avail.

The only issue I have right now is that I constantly get a pop-up from Realtek HDAM saying "You just unplugged a device" then immediately "You just plugged in a device".I disabled the popups but they still show up. That's not really the problem, I can live with that. It's the annoying cut out of audio every 20 seconds followed by the audio being a lot quieter. Originally I installed the drivers from the motherboard CD (Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3). Frankly those worked better but I still had the issue, I updated the drivers to a newer version, but now I keep getting this problem more often.

Feb 27, 2012I turned my computer on to find no audio playing. My main audio device plays bac audio from DAW just fine but if I load a video in WMP i get a code C00D11B1. If I try to play a test tone in the sound settings I get "Failed to play test tone". I have other audio devices connected and also get the same errors which makes me think this is a registry error or some windows communication error. The only thing I think might have caused this is when I was trying to get my ram to run at 1866. This is a new build and the ram should run at this speed as it is in the QVL but that is another issue. I should also mention that I have tried reloading the device drivers, updated the BIOS, and restyored windows from a previous state with no change.

May 7, 2012I've been working for the past week to try and figure this out :*( please help me out, don't ask about the name, couldn't get it to take any normal names at the time.
I don't know exactly what is happening with my computer but since the guild wars 2 beta weekend my computer would freeze make a very loud scratching sort of sound than the client would crash. At first I figured ok its just beta something isn't happy with my system, I figured it was just that cross fire wasn't optimized for the beta and that my 5970 had some cross fire structure to it with the dual gpu. Than while playing Sniper Elite v2 it happened again, not to the full extent of the loud noise but still there was scratching. After each time the games would crash all my other programs would crash as well, and when they did work they would be screwed up. I would try playing music and it would sort of work than have the static or scratching sound again, occasionally a beeping sound.
I have my audio drivers up to date and I have tested it out threw my screen speakers and my razer megalodon usb head phones. I have checked for a new mobo bios and haven't found anything new for it, I than checked to update my graphic drivers and brought them up to 12.4. I don't run anything but the drivers due to it making my system very unstable. I than did a complete wipe, did 8 passes over both my base hard drive and my 1 tb hard drive. Fully updated windows and my drivers again and I am still experiencing the same problems. I have my video card over clocked to 900 core clock and 1200 memory at 1.137 volts, its stable as can be. I also have my cpu over clocked to 3.7 ghz but I have never had a issue with it either, they both have been at these speeds for the past 2 years. The temps are all with in more than safe temps and I have just recently cleaned the entire computer.
Just finished doing memtext86+ for 5 passes and came up with 0 errors, I have also checked inside my event viewer logs for any critical events and can't find any.My system specs according to speccy:

May 31, 2012Have recently purchased a small usb inspection snake camera with led light and when testing it plugged it into two desktops computers (one xp pro not sure of the other as it was a network work computer) It automatically loaded the drivers and brought up a screen automatically with the realtime image.(no driver disc came with it). However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?

Nov 29, 2012Yesterday when I got home I could not get my headset working on my PC. It's a USB headset (Tritton AX720) but it works perfectly on my Xbox 360. There is sound coming from the headset but it is really quiet. My speakers to my computer work fine, it's just when I plug the headset in I'm not getting sound. I was working on it for about an hour last night and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. So far I've tried to make it my default audio device, I did a system restore to a few days ago, and messed with the setting a little bit. This headset has worked on my PC for about 6-8 months up until yesterday. By the way my audio for my computer is still working perfectly. It is only when I plug my headset in that it isn't working properly. I'm completely lost on what is wrong.

Aug 23, 2011Since installing it, I had a problem with my sound, which was as the title states, no audio output device. I've been through several drivers, none of which worked, and I've also tried sound max, which has in fact worked, however I can't stand the little sound bar when you up or down the volume, and it's fairly unresponsive when I use the buttons on my laptop. So in all fairness, I just want the actual driver designed to work with this laptop.I do have a version of Windows 7 Home Premium, not too sure if it'd make much difference, however I'd rather not go through another OS install as I've got most of my stuff already set up on this now!I am good with computers so don't be afraid to get technical, but I just need another angle on this because it's most likely just something I'm overlooking.

Feb 8, 2011For a while now(speaking in month terms), my sound would be working just fine. But sometimes when I put it into hibernate(for the night) and turn it back on, my speaker icon would have a red X over it. The only way this goes away is if I leave the computer off for a long time or, spam restarts(lol). What can be the problem here? My guess is that it's getting old or something.
Also, when I try to find it in the device manager, it doesn't show up. It can't even detect it either.
Also, I reinstalled the drivers yesterday, and it worked again....for another few hours. So when I retried doing that, windows update didn't detect the sound card.

Sep 13, 2011I have a HTPC in my living room which since updating on the weekend now has no sound I have found similar issues and posts on various forums from searching all afternoon Sunday but none with a solution (that works for me) other than a full Windows 7 reinstall. I have a PC running onboard realtek (ASRock ConRoe 745 DVI), which was working perfectly until Service [pack one update and two other updates this Sunday. I unfortunately discovered for some reason the System Restore on this machine was set to off so that is not an option The audio symbol bottom right says there is no audio device installed, however if you look in the device manager there is the correct Realtek device installed with no exclamation mark and it is reporting as working correctly. If you right click on the red cross and click playback devices it takes you to the realtek device properties and it is set as default. (In fact if you unplug the speaker jack the PC advises you of this even though it says no audio device installed). If you click on the red cross it launches the fault detection wizard and returns "Audio Device is Disabled - Not Fixed"I have tried uninstalling the device - scanning for changes - reinstall Repeated the above but deleted the device drivers Tried a SFC scan and a Chkdsk Scan (No errors) Tried with the Microsoft default high definition audio drivers and the latest (and not latest) realtek drivers Tried disabling in the BIOS uninstalling and reinstalling after re-enabling Tried uninstalling the updates and repeating the above Tried uninstalling the service pack and repeating the above Finally unenabled the onboard card and installed a PCI soundblaster Audigy - Same problem?
