View 2 Replies View RelatedBought my partner the Asus 1005HA for Xmas, and it runs pretty well. May upgrade ram, but it works.
The only minor issue I have experienced is that the small magnifying glass that should come up on the second entry when searching in start menu (the one that says 'see more results' after the initial search in the 'search programs' box) is a blank box with no icon. Small change... but rather than rebuild all icons for this small issue is there another way around it? She can live with it... but I would like the magnifying glass there.
I received an interesting challenge from my Boss today. She gave me her daughter's netbook which is an ASUS (I think it is the first or close to first ever made) and is extremely limited in specs...check this out
Celeron M Processor (900MHZ...)
1GB RAM(667MHZ I think...)
8GB SSD(It might be an SSD but 8GB and it happens to be in an IDE-only configuration...)
Intel 915 Int-GPU (Intel GPU, enough said...)
That is the relevant specs...I am wondering if installing Windows 7 will be possible
Ultimate?...NO NO NO
Professional?...NO NO
Home Premium?...NO
Home Basic...Maybe...
I have also heard reports that you can't activate Home Basic in the US. Before someone says to slap XP on it and let it go...her daughter despises XP and loves Windows 7 which led my boss to get me to attempt to install 7 on it. I think the biggest limiting factor here is HD space but I think Home Basic could fit on it..
I have a asus 1201n eee pc it was working with no problems fast stable nothing wrong one day 3 weeks ago windows updates came out downloaded and installed ever since then a adapter plugged in says charging but isn't. Already replaced battery and charger. Us ut windows? Or the computer?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy netbook froze on friday night. Try to restart, but was stuck at grey screen. It has asus logo and eee pc written. The options f2 to run setup and tab to display bios post yields nothing. In other words, pressing either button doesn't work. I have removed the battery, pressed the power button without the power cord, put everything back in, tapping f2. So far, no progress. Few times, i try pressing f2 similtaneously as i hit the power button, i got american megatrends screens. Still, none go further. I have this netbook for a little over a year. The warranty just expired a month ago. It is running window 7 starter already installed when i got it at bestbuy. I had contacted asus support, and tried some i mentioned above. I prefer to do this by myself.
View -1 Replies View RelatedI need to connect to my wireless network at home I have to be nearby the router, if I try going upstairs I lose connection and network is not recognized anymore.
At first it was a problem with the range of the router but I booted on my Linux distro and on exactly the same physical spot Win7 doesn't recognize anything, I get a 60% availability and everything works perfectly.
Do I need a wireless adapter to make my desktop wireless!
View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically, my netbook doesn't recognize any networks despite the fact that my other netbook, laptop and iMac all do recognize the networks in the area and connect to my network without a problem. I have already tried resetting the router and all that kind of stuff. In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, where the network strength icon is, there is just a red 'X' signifying that there are no available networks. Sometimes, upon restarting the computer, it does recognize that there are networks (strength icon has the gold dot in the middle), but when I try to join my network, it says that it is unable to. Then the weird stuff happens:
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a used Acer Aspire One 10.1 netbook and I am having some issues. When I got it the pc needed 17 windows updates done. So I did that but I am not sure all the updates worked properly as the machine shut down but never rebooted after finishing updates. After I turned it back on I tried to connect to the internet through my wireless router (which is working fine for other devices), nothing. So I tried a wired connection, nothing again. The wireless is finding my router it is just not hooking up to the internet. I tried ipconfig/all in the cmd prompt and all it shows is that the media is disconnected??? Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? The compute seems to be functioning fine except for the internet
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've installed ASUS Wi-Fi USB adapter (model USB-N13) for LAN. There is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Through control panel I see that adapter works normally and the drivers are the latest. However my PC doesn't see the adapter - the ASUS utility notices me "ASUS Wireless LAN card is taken apart from your desktop PC".I have the same Wi-Fi adapter at another my PC with Windows 7 Home Basic, and everything works nice. Of course I changed these adapters between my computers. Conclusion is both adapters are working good. The same models, the same drivers. Actually I don't understand where is the mistake?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 installed on my PC and I was wondering which wireless USB adapter would work best?
At present I have a Netgear PCI wireless card which wont work and I prefer the USB devices anyway.
Looking forward to any assistance.
I just got Windows 7 and its working smooth right now ... But I have a recent question: I want to get rid of all the cables that I have, included like 5feet of ethernet cable so I want to get a PCI or a USB wireless to connect to my Router but I dont really know which one would be the best for me and of course, 100% compatible with Windows 7 ... Any ideas?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have recently gone from vista home premium to windows 7 and now my wireless adaptor does not work. i have reinstalled the software a few times and still no change. View 6 Replies View RelatedRight, I currently have got the Linksys WMP54G PCI adapter. It works fine as I am using the RALINK RT2500 drivers for it. I could not find any official driver to work with Windows 7 x64.
Anyway, I have been thinking about getting a new card with 802.11n support. What are your recommendations for a good wireless adapter (preferably PCI) that has good official drivers and support for Windows 7 x64?
I just upgraded to a new computer with Win 7 installed. The old USB Network Adapter did not work so we bought a Belkin N Wireless "high performance" USB Network adapter (F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter). The specs on the box did NOT say it worked with Windows 7, but the clerk said drivers would be available.
So far, the adapter does not work, the install of drivers does not help, and I don't find anything anywhere that says this adapter will work with Windows 7. So, it's going back in the box and I'm going to exchange it. But, to avoid any more wasted time, I would like any recommendations on what adapters do work and which are best.
Up until yesterday my new Dell Vostro 1720 Laptop with Windows 7 Professional was working perfectly. I have had the laptop almost 4 months and through the day it connects via LAN and on an evening via WIRELESS with no issues at any point getting onto the internet.Yesterday something happened. I've no idea what, as far as I'm aware no updates were installed and no new software. In work yesterday I was working on LAN fine, last night I went home and I was unable to get onto the internet. I have 2 other machines and a pS3 which were all working fine. I have a little yellow exclamation mark over my wirless connection saying no internet access. It does get an IP and I can ping my router fine. But when I search via name it fails. I know its something to do with the DNS, but not sure what. When I came into work today i tried connecting to wireless here and the same happens. Exactly same I can ping ip of dns server and everything internally but unable to connect to them by name.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy cable company said my wireless adapter on my laptop does not work and isn't picking up a signal. They believe I may need to reinstall the wireless driver. I have a hp G60-535-dx and I recently updated Windows 7 and don't know if that caused the problem. My other laptop is a windows Vista and will connect to the internet and they both share a wireless router, however the windows 7 laptop will not connect to the internet. What is the best way to solve this problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed an Alfa AWUS036H wireless adapter on my Asus u50f laptop. It didn't work, customer support said it must be a defective unit and return. One of the troubleshooting steps I tried was disabling the regular wireless adapter. I tried that and also uninstalling it.Now, I have uninstalled the Alfa driver/utility, and simply want my regular wireless to work again. I tried reinstalling the driver automatically, and also others i found on the net, and none work. They all say device is working properly, but there is a red x on the tray icon and it says no connections and there is no list of networks in range like usual. When I run the Windows (7) troubleshooter, it says there is a problem with the driver but offers no solution.I tried system restore from multiple points, but all say it can't restore (possibly due to AV program). So I uninstalled avast, tried again, and still can't get a restore.

It is supposed to auto install, so theres no program I can run in compatibility mode. I've played with it a lot, and finally I'm resorting to asking for help. It is made by ENCORE Electronics. I've found the correct driver (for vista) here: Encore Electronics, Inc. but even that will not install properly using the device manager. Is it possible to get this working? If i install teh driver that came with the CD windows 7 won't even recognize my wireless. I will get the device not properly installed error. So besides that driver i have also to install an onlder version of it. Then i can get windows to see my wireless.
i have this wireless card not sure of the model, it comes up as a linksys wireless g pci adapter in the device manager from the windows update drivers in x86
but i would like to use it in x64. so i searched a little bit and it found it to be WMP54G but im not sure if i really believe it because the card it self has no linksys model/version number on it.
