If possible is there any way when I right click then go to New there would be something called "Create File" that would create a blank file with no extension.
I am soon to reinstall my dual boot setup i had with my laptop with Ubuntu and windows 7.Now what i have done is i have created a small 50gb partition for windows 7 and Ubuntu to share that hey will both automatically mount at boot. It will contain my downloads, music, videos, pictures, documents and such from (on Ubuntu) my home folder and on windows 7 the folders in my name folder or whatever its called that hold all those things, I've already got them linked in Ubuntu but i cant figure it out in windows 7, any one got an idea?
So I just received a computer I purchased from CyberPower Inc. and set everything up; so far things have gone smoothly except for the following: When I first booted the computer up, and every subsequent startup, I receive the following error message on the homescreen, "There is a file or folder on your computer called 'C:Program' which could cause certain applications to not function correctly. Renaming it to 'C:Program1' would solve this problem. Would you like to rename it now?" If I opt to rename it, then the next startup the message appears again but this time wants me to rename it to "C:Program2". It does seemt to be causing some problems for the way internet explorer functions. I haven't finished setting up the computer/restoring my backups or anything because I don't want to go through that entire process if I am going to need to find the windows installation CD that came with the computer, reinstall the OS, etc.
i have windows seven 32 without service pack. All work and one day.. when i try to install sp1...When i click on user account, create account, nothing appears. I have the same problem when i want to change display parameter on pannel configuration.I have aloso class not register when i try to save in word 2010.
How to create a batch file that will move files based on the file type?My Requirement : I need a batch file to copy all .doc files in all my HardDisk to aremovable disk say (Z: drive) . Can anyone make it possible using a batch file
recently I got some problem with my win7. Yesterday I downloaded 2 MKV files and I can't click/right-click on them as it shows error message "Windows explorer has stopped working", then I've been given 2 options : Check for solution or Restart the program. And it lags so much when the message showed up. However, I still able to play those 2 files if I double-click on it fastly (before the error message showing up) and the video is okay too. Since my other mkv files I had (and other various file formats like AVI, MP4 etc..) are working just fine, I thought there's something wrong with the latest mkv files I've downloaded. Then I tried to convert it to become avi, but my converter won't read the file because it's in chinese. I'm unable to rename it too OTL, Then it must be something wrong with my windows explorer.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64bit(genuine) on 2.30 dual core CPU with 3 GB. I reinstalled windows and a month after the reinstall, whenever I right click on only any file to open/cut/copy/rename/delete, it takes too much time, and many times the folder in which file exist goes unresponding. I am using AVAST (after using 60 day trial of Norton) and it is updated regularly.
before my hard drive crashed I had a freeware program that allowed me to right click on file or folder and move or copy to any place on computer. I lost it and can not find.
We have xen desktop in our office with win7 O.S installed. The issue is that all the files and folders opens on single click instead of double click. I checked the files and folder property and found, double click is greyed out. Please let me know how to fix this issue. We want to have double click activated for all the win7 machines
I had an F/drive failure. Got the files recovered and transfered to a backup drive, installed a new F/ drive and as I began re-installing program files, discovered I couldn't use Explorer right-click to copy data files to a different directory. I tried the NirSof shexview program to disable all context menu items, no joy, even in safe mode. I made a crashdmp file, but don't know how to open or read it. Per other threads, I've uploaded that to skydrive.
if I open a folder and r/click any file (to send it to another disk), I get a message saying that Explorer has stopped working and then it is restarting. This happens every time I try this. It restarts OK every time but never tells me why it crashed. When I go to do a System restore, it cannot complete the restore as it says a file cannot be accessed and that maybe an Anti-virus is running. I have disabled A/V and Firewall, both in Norton Internet Security which I only installed yesterday. All was working OK until later today, when I noticed that Windows 7 had installed 3 critical updates and I'm thinking that one or both are the cause? These were KB973924 x 2 and KB972696.
Whenever I make a new text file by right clicking and selecting new text file, it says it is corrupt, but when I do it by opening notepad and selecting save as.. it works ok.
the problem is when i double click any file to open it, it always change to delete the file and something like this come out.."are you sure you want to move this file to Recycle Bin?" and it come out multiple time.i am using hp mini and i already format it, but the same problem still happen.
The .pdf and .rtf associations are set correctly to Adobe Reader and Wordpad but double-click or enter only responds by opening Windows Explorer. The right-click context menu lists "Open with Adobe Reader X" correctly and certainly works but is not how I'm used to working for the last however many years .pdf has been around.
I had hoped that if I could somehow get Adobe Reader into the Default Programs list and that that would help. However, Wordpad IS listed in my Default Programs and is set for .rtf and .docx but double-clicking .rtf does not respond by opening WordPad, only Windows Explorer.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT has Persistent Handler and ShellEx settings for .pdf but I don't know for sure if these are the relevant keys.
I'm also amazed (well, not really...) that MS apparently has no system for people to report bugs, only a system to take your money to (hopefully?)
As mentioned above, I can not get windows explorer to show the full file path even when I click in the empty space. I have looked everywhere for how to fix this. It also does not copy the full file path when you ask it to do so. I don't want to go to classic. My hard drive died in my laptop. I replaced it with a new ssd. I was unable to get my copy of windows. This is a fresh install
Office Starter Click To Run created a protected Q drive with it's file in it when I uninstalled it and I can't unprotect it even though I'm the administrator. how I can unprotect this and get rid of it?
I try to download a program (for instance u torrent) I dont ever get a dialog box with the run option in it. Instead I get a bar on the bottom of the screen that gives the options of "open", "save", or "cancel". When I click "open" nothing happens. When I click "save" a file is saved in my download folder by the name of "utorrent_exe" with no extention. When I try to run it I get a message that asks what program I want to run it with. Oh yeah, by the way, I am running Windows 7 Premium Home Edition.
everytime i right click on a file my windows explorer is stopped working. With some files it works but 9/10 not.
I have already tried: -deleted .reg files. -disable enable context files with autoruns or shellexview -replace explorer.exe -replace shell32.dll -deleted broken .reg files with Ccleaner.exe
I read somewhere recently that win 7 can create an iso file, just by sticking a cd and right click on the desktop and choose Burn. It suppose to have its own iso burner built in. I did just as that message said and nothing popped up. Now, it could be that it may be only on one of the win 7 versions, mine is the home premium one.
When I used VirtualBox and had system failures and/or viruses, I tried to save it with an antivirus. Sometimes it did not help so I had to delete it and create a new one.Well, I wan't to try the VHD booting on windows 7, but before I start I want to know what happens when my VHD file gets infected by malicious code. Can I just delete the VHD file and create a new one? as I would do with VBox?
I wanted to create a TXT file under the WINDOWS folder and the only thing on the context menu was FOLDER.I get the same context menu for any folder under the windows folder.
I cannot due to the fact I cannot access anything except the f8, f10/alt, f2 and f12 screens which no matter which selection I attempt I end up back to this dreadful blue screen and errror message. I am posting from a nearby desktop computer with hopes you will be able to guide me in using either my Windows operating system reinstallation disc, or a boot/repair disc I have with restore tools included.I have changed the boot order a few different ways, with no luck. I have tried windows debugging and every other option in the f8 menu, with no luck. I have tried the f12 selections, with no luck.As I've learned, the PC is a Gateway NV59C with 4GB DDR3Mem, 320 GB HHD, Intel HD graphics, Intel Core i3-330MHD with Windows 7 and 64bit.
I regularly need to turn off windows 7 GUI settings such as aero, certain services, unload certain apps in memory, all in win 7 ultimate. These settings will always be the same. I would like to know if it is possible to create some sort of file*batch file?) which would turn these settings off, and also a separate file which would turn them back on again when i wanted them all back.
I am familiar with working with simple .bat files, and converting them into .exe's and attaching them to shortcut icons. So my only question is where do i find examples of how to write lines of code to manipulate the windows interface.
I have FLASH DRIVE with seven setup inside,I have (WINDOWS 7 x86 and windows 7 x64)in one Install.wim.and i have too (windows 7 & active@diskboot)in one Boot.wim.now.so how i make.or create menu in BOOTMGR ((i don't using GRUB))so that i can called sevenx86-setup, sevenx64-setup, and active@diskboot with ONE BOOTMGR?
